Casa Pacifica (4 bedrooms, up to 10 people) WITH POOL

& Casita Pacifica (2 bedrooms, up to 4 people) NO POOL

- rented separate or together

Casa Pacifica is a luxury beach house offering a prime location 200 yards from one of best beaches in Costa Rica. The house is on a large private property just steps from two incredible beaches (Playa Samara and Playa Carrillo) and you are walking distance to the towns of Samara and Carrillo for a real taste of real Costa Rican culture. This is a perfect place for an active family vacation or just a relaxing, casual getaway. Samara Beach (200 yards from our door) is widely recognized as one of the safest and most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica.

This four-bedroom home has two masters and a great living area which opens up to the kitchen and a large covered terrace overlooking the pool. The pool is surrounded by a lush garden, and you can expect to be visited by monkeys, iguanas, land-crabs, red-tailed squirrels and scores of other lizards and birds. Samara Beach is known to be one of the safest swimming beaches on the west coast of Costa Rica but is also great for surfing too.

There is also another smaller house on the same property, Casita Pacifica. If you want a total of 6 bedrooms you can ask about renting both houses for your stay. Otherwise, both houses have their own entrance, driveway, terrace and parking and the pool and backyard are completely private to the main house.

Boats can pick you up right at the beach (200 yards up the road) for world-class sport-fishing, turtle & dolphin tours or just a tour of the beautiful coastline. Included with the house are two kayaks so that you can tour the safe waters or go visit Isla Chola and have and entire island to yourself. You can learn to surf in Samara and catch intermediate waves, and you are only 15 miles away from some of the top surfing breaks in the world.

This is definitely one of the finest rentals in Samara. Our staff is around daily to ensure you have an amazing vacation. Wall-to-wall tile, luxury linens, thick towels & large walk-in showers await you and housekeeping and security is included - all you have to do is enjoy yourself.

About Paul

We are Canadians living in North Carolina with a rental property in Costa Rica. We have 3 great, active and young children and like to spend as much time each year on our property as possible. We hope to someday retire to Costa Rica, but have a long way to go.

Paul purchased this house in 2007

Why Paul chose Guanacaste

We choose Guanacaste on the advice of many Tico's we have met - since it's techically dry forest, it offers many more months of lower humidity, less rain and less bugs - but it still has a great tropical climate. After touring all over Guanacaste, we chose Samara because it's the best family destination. The beach there is protected by the reef and is one of the safest swimming beaches on the West Coast & the town is just big enough to offer everything you need. It also is 'locally grown', made up of a bunch of independently owned hotels and restaurants (no chains at all). It has all the same sights and tours that the larger beach towns offer (arguably the best beach around) - but without the crowds and party element.

What makes this house unique

Our property is on the far end of Samara Beach from the town of Samara. The property offers a lot of privacy, a lot of nature and guests often have most of the beach to themselves. It's close enough to Samara to be convenient to stores, restaurants and bars - but far enough from town to enjoy the mornings and evenings with just the sounds of nature around you. The house definitely one of the finest rentals in the area and our staff is fantastic.

Amazing place for anyone!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely enjoyed everything about Casa Pacifica. Went with three friends and stayed in the big house. Everything was clean when we arrived, the property manager came with us to the house to show us how everything worked and was very helpful. The bedrooms were perfect, the pool was amazing, everything was great. Very close to two amazing beaches, and not too far from Samara if you wanted to walk in there. We took the two bikes into town one day, only took us about 10 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to see a less tourist-centric location of Costa Rica. I know I'll be going back in the future.

Very nice house near the beach

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at the Casa for 1 week. We really liked it! It was very spacious, and it gave us a chance to enjoy our vacation and not feel crammed. There were several bedrooms. Two of them were master bedrooms with bathrooms next to them, so it was very convenient. There was one bedroom with bunk beds. My children had never slept in bunk beds before, but they had a good time sleeping there.

Besides the space, some other good aspects were the Wifi(connection was very good), TV has a ton of channels, the air conditioning was very good(it does get pretty hot in Samara, but the air in the house worked very well). The kitchen was very nice as well--we cooked a couple of meals ourselves, and a grill is available.

The pool area was great, too. My family and I really liked the beaches near Samara, but there were times where it was easier to be home--so we had a chance to enjoy the pool area. It is a fairly large pool and is well lit at night--there is a jacuzzi area as well, and our kids really enjoyed the pool especially.

What I also liked about the outdoor pool area is that it was very easy to just sit outside, listen, and take everything in. We could hear the monkeys and birds nearby somewhat regularly, but it wasn't annoying. It was a nice area to hang out, especially if someone else wanted to nap in the afternoon, or wanted to head in for the night.

A few other positives--there was a cleaning lady that came some of the days--that was very helpful for us. There is also a gate and there was even a guard for nighttime. Of course, safety should be one of the most important things--taking my family to Costa Rica for the first time I was a little cautious, but we felt and were very safe while at the Casa.

Finally, the location is very good. Playa Samara is within a 5 minute drive, and Playa Carillo is about a 2 minute drive. The bank, restaurants, grocery stores, even doctor are in the town--everything is near the house. You don't have to rent a car, but we did--if you are an alert driver and take the necessary precautions, I would recommend that option(for day trips), although we were told that taxis are usually readily available as well.

Our guides, Melissa and David were very nice and very helpful(and patient waiting for us) when we first arrived. They gave us some good pointers--also, if we had any concerns/issues, there was very quick feedback. We are very pleased with everything, and we would consider coming back again in the future.

Stunning home and beautiful, private property

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely gorgeous home, impeccably clean, gorgeous pool and yard. Away from the touristy town, but close enough to make short runs into town to eat or explore. Short walk to a quiet beach, and short drive to Playa Carrillo, as well. Guard at night and very thorough maid service. We had a BBQ one evening, and spent HOURS in the pool and watching the lizards and butterflies in the yard. Highly highly recommend!

What a great home

  • 5 of 5

Three couples stayed in the home last week. We had a great time. The beds are super comfortable, everything was really clean and had pretty much everything we needed.

The housekeeper, Roxy, was super sweet and it was so nice to have someone make our beds for us. We didn't expect it, but it was nice none the less. Originally we didn't invest in the air conditioner for the larger part of the house, but decided the second day in it was worth it. The bedrooms were quite comfortable and when we discovered one of the rooms was not working, they came out right away to fix it.

There is not a lot to do in Samara, so we spent most of our time hanging by the pool and walking to the beach to see the beautiful sunset. Because we were a large group, we did not take advantage of the kayaks in the garage, but would have it if had been just two of us.

I can't think of a thing to improve on here. Since we are kind of new to renting VBRO's, we should have stocked up on some basics (toilet paper) for our stay, but managed to not have a problem with what was provided until we could get to the store.

This is a great home. Paul was really quick on replying as was his property management team. I highly recommend a relaxing week at this beautiful home.

What a great home for large family/friend gatherings!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the home for more than a month, and each week had a different group of family or friends come in to visit. The adjacent casita was great for the two weeks we needed the extra room (yes there were many of us) and the house is perfect for children too. Even when the casita was rented to strangers, we had more than enough privacy - - it is a nice set up. We cook frequently so the large kitchen and table were a bonus. It is a long walk into town, but the bus system is easy to figure out (even easier with the excellent help of Roxie the friendly and competent housekeeper) OR a 3 colones (about $6) cab ride is a also great (we had good luck with father/son Eduardo Taxi). Even better is a quick walk to Carrillo beach. Enough room for private reading or games. Fresh picked grapefruit a real bonus. Can't tell you how much we enjoyed the pool. We've stayed for long stints in Samara for several years now and needed to change rental houses and SO GLAD we did! Great place for gathering of families.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We spent five weeks in this amazing home. Everything was perfect. Rosie, housekeeper was excellent and a joy to get to know. It is a long walk into town. But it was nice to be close to Samara and Carrillo beaches. It is also very quiet. The swimming pool was amazing. We did learn how to take the local bus and found a grocery store that delivered. Paul purchased two bikes which we used often. Both Paul and Mellisa (samararentals) responded to our questions promptly. Loved it so much we rented for a month again next year.
