About the property

Farmhouse, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-8)

Are you looking for something different? Then take a break from that congested city life in the quiet, beautiful Hood River Valley. The Columbia Gorge is known for its wide range of outdoor activities in the Pacific Northwest. There is something here for everyone. We invite you, your family and friends to stay on our 40 acre farm for some rest and relaxation time.

Our cottage sits on our 40 acre WORKING farm. During the summer and fall months many people from around the world visit the farm stand to pick fruit and take in the beautiful views of Mt. Hood and surrounding cottage gardens. During the daytime hours, the yard will be shared with many tourists taking pictures of the mountains, farm and flower gardens.

What ever you desire Hood River Valley has something for you. Activities that are on site or nearby include: Windsurfing in the Columbia Gorge, Skiing on Mt. Hood, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Biking, Golf, Tennis, Fitness Center, Fishing, Hunting, Horseback Riding, Shopping, Restaurants, Cinemas, Museums, Sightseeing, Swimming, Boating, Sailing, Rafting, Downhill Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Wine Tasting at local vineyards, Brew Pubs.

In the winter enjoy some of the best ski and snowboarding in the state, at Cooper Spur (15 miles) and Mt. Hood Meadows (25 miles). If it’s sledding you desire, Little John Snow-Park is 20 minutes away.

In the summer spend the morning and afternoon exploring the Columbia River Gorge. You may choose to take a tour of the beautiful Hood River Valley by train, explore the fruit farms and wineries (on the fruit loop map) by car or take up some windsurfing lessons at the river. You may just want to hang out on our farm and feed the animals, pick your own fruit or just enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Hood on our swing.

This farm home features: A breath taking view of Mt. Hood. Four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps eight with three queen beds, and one double bed, has a full kitchen with dishwasher, laundry room, large family room with beautiful over-sized furniture, a cozy wood burning fireplace, and a dining room that seats up to eight. Satellite TV, DVD and phone are also included. All linens and cooking utensils are provided.

Please respect and treat our house as your own. Also be mindful of turning off lights and helping to keep the electric bill manageable. Though our home is picturesque for parties, weddings and reunions, we do not allow such events at our farm house. No smoking or drugs of any kind is allowed in our home. Pets are not allowed.

About Theresa

Theresa Draper has been running the farm since 1982 when our grandpa Roman and grandma Ann passed the legacy over to her. Farming has always been in her blood, as she would follow Roman's every footstep. She has made a lot of good changes along the way to the farm but has always kept grandpa's vision in mind; people first. Now all the daughters help run the farm. A few years back, Theresa and her girls decided to fix up the farm house they all grew up in, and turn it into a vacation rental.

Theresa purchased this farmhouse in 1982

Why Theresa chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

Located at the base of Mt. Hood with spectacular views, the Draper Girls' decided it would be the perfect vacation area. It's only twenty minutes from the town of Hood River, twenty-five minutes from Mt. Hood Meadows, Cooper Spur and Little John Snow Park. If skiing, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, biking or windsurfing is your thing the Columbia Gorge is the place for you.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The farm house sits on our forty acre working farm.

Guestbook comments from the owner

To come from Australia to attend my grand daughters wedding and find this tranquil place to stay has given such pleasure. The Mt. Hood scenery will stay with me as a special part of America. My young grand daughter have had a great stay and with cats, strawberry picking, the swing have felt much at home. Thank you for your kindness!

Incredible View! Comfortable Home!

  • 4 of 5

The first impression is the incredible view of Mt Hood and the beautiful flower gardens around the house. The home is charming and served our needs very well. The beds are all comfortable, the second bathroom does have a shower, and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes etc. to make meals for a full house. It would be nice to have a full curtain between the two bedrooms that join or add a door for privacy. We enjoyed a morning breakfast outside looking at Mt Hood and the gardens before the visitors from the fruit stand began enjoying the view too. Evenings are very private outside to enjoy the yard after the fruit stand closes. The pygmy goats in the front yard were fun. It would be a wonderful place to stay in the winter too!

Fantastic Farmhouse.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time in the most picturesque setting. Being on a working farm was a fun experience, and the views of Mt. Hood were absolutely stunning. The house as comfortable and well stocked with everything we could possibly want or need. We shall almost certainly return.

Farm house, orchards, Mount Hood

  • 5 of 5

A comfortable and clean farm house on an active orchard with animals and a fruit stand right outside - all framed by a spectacular view of Mount Hood. Twelve miles from Hood River. Perfect place for a family or friends.

Keep coming back year after year

  • 5 of 5

The Draper Girls Farm house is the best location we've ever found for our annual girls get together. Big enough for 8 sleepers, cooking great meals, enjoying food and talk around the huge table, relaxing in the family room or enjoying an incredible view of Mt Hood in a beautifully landscaped yard with tons of fragrant and colorful flowers. With the fruit stand next door we can always count on fresh produce for our meals. Plus I love their freshly made Tart Cherry juice.
