About Marne Simpson
Marne Simpson with Bridges to Home, is our Rental Manager. She owns her own vacation rental in Downtown Lodi and manages a variety of quality vacation homes in the Lodi area. She has lived in Lodi most of her life and loves sharing the wonderful area with visitors. She will prepare Alicante Acres for you with all of the comforts of home and more, and ensure a wonderful stay. She is available to help plan your trip and will be the main contact before and during your stay and is happy to answer any questions you may have about the home or the Lodi area. As brothers and the home owners, Ron and Kathie and Jerry and Ronda Mettler, were fortunate to be left the home and acreage by our parents who built it in 1959. Although we have personal attachments to the house, we have homes of our own in Lodi and chose to remodel this house to be enjoyed by others who visit the Lodi area.
Marne Simpson purchased this House in 1959
Why Marne Simpson chose Lodi
Our father was born one half mile south on Locust Tree Road in 1916, and our parents were lifelong farmers. We grew up on the farm surrounded by vineyards, fruits trees and wild life. While visiting, you will see numerous bird species and possibly cotton tail rabbits in the yard. We have resident Mocking Birds and Scrub Jays along with many other species that visit daily. Keep and eye out for the Killdeer bird eggs camouflaged to look like rocks on the ground at the vineyard's edge. To the south Red Tail Hawks and Great Horned Owls often nest in the tall Deodar Cedar. Bring binoculars if you enjoy bird watching. While much has not changed in the surrounding community and many of the farms have been in the same families for generations, we have also seen many changes. Local families have started wineries and offer tastings of prize-winning wines made from grapes produced in their own vineyards. They grow grapes in compliance with Lodi Rules for sustainable management of the environment and customize vineyard farming practices with a focus on producing grapes that will make the best wines. We think you will agree when you visit nearby wineries. We chose the house name based on the Alicante Bouchet grape, a red variety we grow a country block to the south. Today this grape is relatively rare in California, but has a strong history, being widely cultivated since 1866. Although our careers took us off the farm, our roots are here and we hope you enjoy your visit.
What makes this House unique
Escape to the quiet, restful countryside with miles of open views in every direction. Watch the sun rise from the front porch and the sun set from the back patio each day. A starry sky like you can't see in the city lights will lull you to sleep each night. Enjoy the fire pit and soothing water fountain as you BBQ with friends and dine al fresco in the mild Central Valley climate all year long. See the source of the local winery production and watch the farmers at their craft, perfected over many generations. There are many things to do while you are here for all ages and interests, from active outdoor activities to historical tours and museums. Stay local or use the home as a base for your day trips to explore the surrounding areas. Lodi has many annual festivals and events and we hope to have you join us for the fun!

This home was even more beautiful than the pictures show. Everything was exceptionally clean and in perfect condition. It was exceptionally well equipped with kitchen supplies, linens, games, etc. Beds were very comfortable and all linens were top quality. It is located just 5 minutes east of Lodi. The property manager responded quickly when we had a question. I would highly recommend this home.
familiy time in beautiful Lodi
I could not have wished for anything better. The outside landscape was immaculant, both front and back. Lighting and fountain and firepit included! We spent many hours out back. All you hear are birds, and an rare occasional car pass. Big horseshoe driveway with plenty of room for parking.
The inside was super clean and modern. Everything you could ask for. It's as if someone lives there and removes their clothes when out-of-towners come in. The kitchen is quite large, with a huge side-by-side fridge. The bedrooms were spacious and, again, super clean.
I kept in touch with Marie several times via text and she was prompt in getting back to me. They even had a nice bottle of wine waiting for us.
We come up this way a few times a year. We would love to stay her again. Thank you for opening your home to us.
Beautiful stay house
I’ll be back. Enjoyed it very much.
Beautiful and peaceful
From the moment we arrived to the vacation home and until the day we left. Marne, the manager was amazing! Anytime I would have a question about anything. She was very quick to reply. The property itself was beautiful. When we drove up. We weren’t even sure if we had the right place. I had trouble unlocking the code to get into the house. But, that was a quick fix! I called Marne and she showed up right away to assist us. Once we got in. We took a tour of this beautiful home. It was amazing! The house was clean, organized, well stocked, and beautiful. The backyard was so relaxing and also beautiful. At night it was more beautiful! We turned on the fire pit , the fountain, the backyard lights, and sat and enjoyed how nice, peaceful, and beautiful it was. Plus, the price was perfect. The next time we come back. We will definitely be renting this beautiful home again. Thank you so much Marne for always responding and the owners for this beautiful home!
