Bring your family group or friends to this beautiful Ca. bungalow in the heart of Lodi and wine country. This home has been beautifully restored with antiques throughout. This craftsman style bungalow built in 1922 has hardwood floors and wood paneling and is over 2600 sq. ft. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a large front room, formal dining room with built in leaded glass sideboard, family/game room, den/office, atrium, and reading nook. The kitchen has been completely remodeled with granite counters but still has the remarkable 1926 Fridgidaire ice box that is perfect for storing wine. The sunny kitchen and dining area is surrounded outside by camelias which are by most of the unique windows that fill the house with natural light. They also allow for beautiful views of the tree lined neighborhood and the park across the way in this prime location. You can also enjoy reading in the cozy nook or the private plant filled atrium. The huge fenced backyard offers a patio for enjoying a cup of coffee or having a group get-together for a barbeque. The patio table seats 8 and there is additional wicker furniture and a picnic table with benches for larger groups. The Merlot Bungalow sits across the street from a popular kids park and is 2 blocks away from downtown Lodi which offers many wine tasting rooms, restaurants, art galleries, shopping and theaters. In addition Lodi offers access to over 80 wineries with award winning wines for your wine tasting pleasure. Also within walking distance is Hutchins Street Square which hosts many events and weddings. You may also want to go to Lodi Lake and nature center with its beautiful park , picnic area and water activities. Near-by is historic Micke's Grove with history museum, zoo, golf, and Japanese Tea Garden. North of Lodi is the skydiving center, airport and restaurant. Just west of Lodi and Lodi Lake is historic Woodbridge.
We have an antique and estate sales business and had come across this house in disrepair. We had known the owner and this house for a long time and had admired it's architecture. We couldn't pass it up in such a beautiful location. It is close walking distance to everything! We have spent almost a year lovingly restoring it. We have just added another new central heat and air upstairs for the summer months.
The wine industry has grown so much in Lodi, but very few places are available for rent for the wine events. We have are own connections to the wine industry and we have a vineyard of merlot grapes, thus came the name 'Merlot Bungalow'.
We stayed for two nights with family and friends and celebrated my mother's 90th birthday with a brunch at the house. The house was perfect for this visit and event. The kitchen was spacious and modern allowing me to prepare a brunch easily for a group. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable and allowed easy talking and visiting. The guests were impressed with the historic house and renovation. The upstairs bedrooms were clean and attractive. Thank you so much for the extra touches such as the bottle of local wine, seasonal flowers and the delightful Holy Cow cheese from a local cheese shop in Lodi.
This was the second time my family and I have stayed in this beautiful house. We were able to fit 7 people comfortably. The beds are very comfortable and all of the amenities were exactly as listed. The property is extremely well kept and very clean. We even got a compliment on the house when we were walking out one night by some people walking by. We received excellent customer service--the landlord is very prompt and accommodating to the needs of the patrons. I would definitely recommend this house to any family who is visiting the area--whether it be to Lodi or wanting to stay outside of the big cities surrounding it. It is in perfect walking distance of a shopping area and movie theater in a very family friendly neighborhood. If we get the chance to come back, we will definitely try to stay here again.
We loved staying here. This home was carefully and generously appointed. Communication with the host was excellent. We'd certainly stay here again.
My friends and I love this house, and this was our second return as a group. It is beautifully restored and decorated. One can find many things to do in Lodi. We love to combine bird watch with wine tasting. However, I should add that the rooms in this house are so well configured for socializing that we also like to cook for ourselves and just hang out and socialize despite the fact that great restaurants are within walking distance. We have plans to return.
Three girls enjoyed our three night stay at the Merlot Bungalow in Lodi, CA. It is approximately two blocks from downtown Lodi which has great restaurants and a number of wine tasting rooms as well as Lodi Beer Company....if you prefer a beer amongst the best Zin Country we've ever been to! Upon arrival we were welcomed with a nice bottle of wine along with cheese and crackers in this mature, yet renovated, home. The house was just perfect for accommodating the three of us with three nice sized bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a great kitchen, living area, nice backyard. Maurie, the owner, was so helpful in suggesting restaurants and wineries we should hit. Parking is provided if you have a car, in a very safe neighborhood, we would go back next weekend if we could! Highly recommend!!!!
The home was so cute and charming. The little community of Lodi was also very cute. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much for letting us stay it was perfect for our family.
Lodi is a huge area for tasting some of the best wines in the state, with over 80 wineries and events.
