Holcroft is a private, 65-acre country estate on the Hudson River in Columbia County, offering old-world charm and elegance, as well as spectacular sunsets over the Hudson and the Catskill Mountains. It provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend a weekend, a week, or more in a secluded and country mansion, relaxing with family and friends.

The house is located 7 miles from Bard College and is a perfect accommodation for families attending Bard College Graduations.

Accommodations include a master en-suite, a guest en-suite, and two bedrooms that share a full bath. Additional rooms upon request.

Kitchen with gas range, and views of the Hudson River; pantry with dishwasher, washer/dryer. Large, 800 square foot drawing room with period furniture and portraits plus a fireplace, and a formal dining room with seating for 10.

Porch with marble table and outdoor shaded seating for 10, plus incomparable views of ocean-going and smaller watercraft on the ever-changing tidal currents of the Hudson River. In-ground, fenced pool with views of the Hudson and Catskills. Expansive lawns for croquet, frisbee, wiffle ball, and other outdoor pursuits. Professionally landscaped gardens throughout the property, walking paths to explore, including the mile-long driveway.

Lovely Hudson River views with a nice lawn and pool area. Holcroft was a convenient home base for exploring the region. Close to Tivoli and Germantown with deliveries available from Hannaford to spare you the grocery store drive. Tucked in the woods you will see wild turkeys and deer. Owners were near by to address any issues.

The property and house are absolutely gorgeous, and the history in the house is amazing. The owner and groundskeeper were also extremely generous and pleasant; went out of their way to make us comfortable with our infant daughter!

Wonderful stay, as idyllic as it seems!

Our family stayed for three weeks in the summer—me, my husband, and our three children (7,4,2)—and had such a lovely time. The house is beautiful, and with so much history! The home’s library includes many books on historic homes on the Hudson, so you can read more about Holcroft while you are there! It is a special experience. The grounds are incredible. Deer and turkeys in the fields every morning, the pool sparkling and clean each day, plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. The sunsets on the Hudson were my favorite part. Less than 10 minutes to Germantown or Tivoli, 15 to Red Hook and Hudson, 20 (maybe 25?) to Rhinebeck, so perfect location. The home has everything you need. Linens, towels (even pool towels), and a stock of items that makes it feel distinctly like a home and not a rental home. The caretaker for the property is second to none. He takes such great care of everything and provided us with some excellent recommendations. If only every VRBO had a caretaker like him! We are excited to come back to Holcroft and experience it in all of its seasons.

What makes this property unique

With a mile-long driveway, one can feel like they are in their own world, secluded from all that is going on. A 5-minute car ride and one can enjoy the quaint villages of Tivoli and Germantown. Drive 15 minutes more, and you can visit Hudson or Rhinebeck. Or, you can choose to read on the porch, swim in the pool, and watch the boats go by on the Hudson River.
