IT'S SUMMER AT THE FARM!

O'KELLEY'S FARMHOUSE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL LOCATION TO GATHER AND ENJOY THE COMPANY OF FAMILY & WONDROUS BEAUTY OF THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS. WE ARE LOCATED JUST AT THE FOOT OF MOUNT PISGAH & THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY. A SHORT 20 MINUTE DRIVE TO DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE.

A memory making vacation is awaiting you nestled in the heart of the upper hominy valley where you will find an 'antique retreat' at the O’Kelley farm house. Renovated in 2008, the farm house is over 100 years old. Situated on 16 acres, the home is adorned with memorabilia from the O’Kelley family along with interesting novelties and antique accents.

Our home is located just moments from the Blue Ridge Parkway and only 20 minutes from Downtown Asheville, where you can find just about anything to do that your heart desires. Or, you can simply enjoy the farm for its own unique charm. May we suggest passing your time by: rocking on the porch, sitting under the outdoor pavilion watching wildlife, building a bonfire and toasting marshmallows, listening to the nearby creeks, or just enjoying the magnificent view of Mount Pisgah. Walking trails are also located nearby.

To add to the unique charm of the home, we have updated the matresses, but kept the original iron beds and many other pieces of the history that have made this home so special. We have tried to renovate in a way that adds modern conveniences and comforts with old time charm. The home, complete with a large kitchen and a spacious dining room that will seat up to 10 people, is a perfect place for an old fashioned family gathering.

This old farm house is so dear to our family. We hope that you and your family will come here and spend time making memories of your own. E-mail us today to plan your old fashioned family vacation.

NOTICE! We rent to families and responsible adults only. No house parties and No Pets! No Exceptions!

About Julie Burnette

Barbara O'Kelley Burnette & Dan O'Kelley

Julie Burnette purchased this farmhouse in 1900

Why Julie Burnette chose Smoky Mountains

This home belonged to our Grandparents Frank and Texie O'Kelley. It has been in our family for over 100 years. We wanted to be able to share it and let others enjoy a little bit of history.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We are very convenient to Asheville & The Blue Ridge Parkway. Easy to access but still far enough out to get away from it all. 16 acres of pasture to roam around in.

Property was as described - if you love antiques you'll love this place!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 stayed here for 2 nights while in town for a weekend trip. The house is just as pictured on the listing. Decorated with lots of antiques and old photos. The majority of the sleeping space is in the attic area and it can get a bit warm and stuffy in the summer. Fans and opening the windows after the sun went down helped to cool it down. It was a beautiful property that has a huge backyard leading to a forest. Was a little disappointing to realize the house sits on a road that had a lot of cars/motorcycles driving up and down. I wouldn't call it a busy road but the sounds were distracting if you're looking for a quiet sit on the front porch. There were horses next door that were fun to watch. We were sad to learn on arrival that they no longer have the goats that are described in the listing. It is in a good location - not too far from grocery, downtown Asheville, the mountain drive. House was stocked with everything we needed to cook there and it was clean. We enjoyed a campfire in the backyard fire pit. We brought our own wood but later realized there was some there we could have used. We would stay again if in the area and would recommend it - take note that the beds are full size so 2 people per bed is cozy!

Besutuful, peaceful, serene farmhouse! Loved it!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this lovely, peaceful farmhouse. It is so comfortable and beautifully decorated, yet with all the conveniences you need...well-furnished kitchen, cable tv, and wifi. The porch is wonderful and a great place to relax and rest, and the yard is beautiful and serene...horses to watch and a picnic area with a covered shelter, gas grill, and plenty of seating. The short drive to Asheville is scenic and doesn't seem long at all. This is so much better than a motel in the city! This country girl loves it here, and would stay again. I highly recommend this property.

Like going back in time, staying at Great Grandmom's farmhouse for a summer visit.

  • 5 of 5

Very well maintained property, fun place to stay. Horses and goats on the property, wildlife roaming the farm. The property sits in the valley just below the Blue Ridge Parkway, with beautiful views. Close to downtown Asheville. Looking forward to going back for another visit.

A very cute authentic cottage in the mountains but close to town

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The cottage was super cute and while it was definitely out in the mountains, it was still pretty close to downtown where we spent most of our time. The goat was especially cute. Nice accommodations, everything you need for a little mountain trip. Everything was clean and felt very homey.

Lovely home and property

  • 5 of 5

I had an idea of what the farmhouse would be like from the VRBO site and reviews and it did not disappoint! Lovely, quaint, and clean the home was filled with history and personality. Beds and linens all very comfortable. Kitchen fully equipped and the big dining room table was perfect for both meals and games. The property was beautiful too. We had a big fire in the fire pit and enjoyed the very visible night sky. The horses, rooster, and expecting goat were all fun to watch. Location very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and a quick drive to downtown Asheville. We will defiantly stay here again! Thank you!
