  • Nothing short of magical...

"I honestly hesitate to write a review, because I want this to be my own little secret:) I actually grew up spending all my summers on my grandparents farm further up Brushcreek & we lived with them in my middle school years when Papaw became ill. I have a long family history in Fairview so full disclosure, I am partial..for very good reason. You just don't get childhoods like that anymore..picking buckets of blackberries that Meemaw turned into cobblers & jams, roaming hillsides only comparable to The Sound of Music and fetching dinner from the lake. I've always dreamed of the day I'd get to bring my kids back to see the slice of heaven called my childhood..but didn't know how, being that my grandparents have passed away and their beautiful property long sold. When I went on VRBO, it was nothing short of a hair raising God thing that I came across this sweet stone cottage (my grandparents farm house that he built with his own hands was stone as well) ON Brushcreek..I thought it was too good to be true! Even my mom who was born and raised there, didn't know about this precious stone cottage up the sweetest dirt road at the end of the circle. I was a little disappointed that we didn't make it there before dark being that my husband isn't quite acquainted with country living:)..but as we entered the gate into this precious property, the night scene had a heavenly glow all it's own. My city boy husband instantly understood all my sentiment. The fireflies lit up the night & the goats and horses welcomed us with their sweet songs..and there was something magical about mysteriously hearing the creek babble before getting to see it in the morning. The next morning I couldn't hold the kids back from bursting outside in their pajamas, so I followed suit in mine with coffee in hand:) We were soon greeted by these special owners..Barbara was up in the barn tending to a new horse & so graciously allowed us to watch and pet. In our time there, I was able to easily explore all the surrounding land that me & my siblings, my mom, grandparents and great grandparents roamed as children..with my own kids, husband & mom..but looked forward to returning to this precious real working farm each day! I am forever grateful for our divine meeting with this special couple & that they so generously share their hearts and home with others..allowing me my up most precious memories with my kids to date. Thank you Barbara and Tom, from the bottom of my heart, thank you."

  • Beautiful Bachelorette Setting

"The upstairs of the house was absolutely perfect for our fall get-away! Sleeping easily 8 girls, with plenty of bathroom space for us all to get ready. The house was very well crafted, and stocked with appliances. However, it was not stocked with cleaning supplies (dishwasher/washer/dryer) fire wood for the outdoor fire pit, salt/pepper. Iris, the manager was very helpful and took very good care of all of my questions. Uber drivers made it great with a GPS (however, were pretty pricy for a week night $60 for a one way trip into Asheville). I would absolutely stay here again if the time arrises!"

  • Quiet

"Cute cabin located in the mountains, but a short drive to east Asheville. Close to antique stores, mall shopping, hiking, a nature center, the VA and also to Black Mountain, which is a nice little town with small shops. People are very friendly and helpful. View from the cabin was nice, since leaves were off the trees, so I could see the mountains. However, there is a house near by that I could see from the hot tub and the living room. So it's not as secluded and private as I expected. The road was bumpy and narrow, but perfectly fine for cars. I would recommend this for anyone that wants to be 'away from it all' but close to activities. Great location for that."
