Family beach week

3 generations for a week at the beach, 8 adults and 2 toddlers. Great beach for the little ones with a tidal pool at upper tides. Perfect access to beach. Very close to aquarium, which we visited twice. House was perfect for us with large kitchen/dining table/living room all together.

A Beautiful house and location! The views are awesome. We enjoyed our stay. The house is very well equipped, very clean, and the property manager was very responsive when needed( which was only once for a tv channel find). Definitely plan to visit again and soon.

Wonderful ocean view and great location

We had a great stay at Retrouvaille. The home is handicap friendly and the elevator was very helpful as the spacious main bedroom, kitchen and living space are all on the upper level. It is in an ideal location and the views from the large porch are spectacular. The owners were responsive and checked in with us while we were there to make sure our stay was going well. We will be back.

An amazing seemingly private beach getaway

A lovely home on an isolated (even over the 4th of July )stretch of the Atlantic,. Set up to handle large groups, with dining seating, dishes and etc. 2 refrigerators, 2 hammocks, an incredible deck with loads of seating, the best outdoor shower ever and very comfy beds. Jeff was also great to work with.

Wonderful location in PKS. Breathtaking views of the ocean. Key for us with old folks and toddlers, easy ocean access, and an elevator. Overall we had a great time and loved the area and the house. It was very well suited for our family. The house was extremely well stocked. We planned to eat in each meal and did not have any issues with the supplies stocked in the kitchen. The manager was very responsive. The area itself was extremely quiet. Great Family Vacation

Retrouvaille at Pine Knoll Shores was the perfect beach rental for us grandparents (late 60s), three grandchildren (ages 7,6, and 5), and their parents (late 30s, early 40s). We can't wait to go back! The house is lovely and obviously well taken care of, with plenty of room to spread out, comfortable furniture and beds, and a well-equipped kitchen. We can hardly wait to go back! Jeff, the owner, was prompt to respond to inquiries and deal with internet issues (weather-related) that arose. He is definitely a super host!

Incredible beach experience

We had a fantastic stay at this property. The house overlooks a beautiful private stretch of beach with great views from the living area and an expansive covered oceanfront porch. The house itself was very comfortable, extremely well-equipped kitchen with large butcher block island, every utensil you might need, blender, mixer, keurig. Super comfortable bed and spacious master bedroom and bath. Nice hardwood floors. Property manager Monique was very attentive. Only suggestion for improvement might be to make the living area a little cozier- leather sofa needs repair (bummer!), maybe an area rug. But those are small issues, the house and location are great and we would happily visit again.

The photos are deceiving. The hammock is ancient and infested with some type of insect. There is retro and then there is not taking care of a home. The basement was gross, the mold and mildew smell suffocated us. The crib was ancient and the mattress was so old, I would not want a mangey dog to have to sleep on it. The floors were filthy and the living room was crammed with oversized peeling fake leather furniture. You couldn't move around and who wants to sit on dust mite infested old furniture. The home needs a major cleaning, new furniture and new comforters to just be acceptable. The outside furniture was covered in dirt and pollen. We had to clean it just to sit on it. PLEASE BE AWARE that the photos are not what you get!!!

Perfect for travelers with mobility issues

We had a wonderful week at Retrouvaille! The main reason we chose this specific home was due to accessibility concerns; the elevator was crucial for allowing us to bring our whole extended family to the beach including my in-laws who have significant mobility issues. The house is fully accessible to those who have issues going up and down stairs. The path from the elevator to the main living area may be a bit tight for a wheelchair user due to the size of the dining table but would probably be manageable if you temporarily moved some of the chairs and scooted the table to one side. For people like my mother-in-law, who can walk but uses a cane and cannot do stairs, it was perfect. The en suite in the upstairs main bedroom has grab bars which were also helpful. The other two upstairs bedrooms each have a queen bed and share a bathroom with a double vanity. My husband and I stayed in the downstairs main bedroom, while our 4-year-old twins were thrilled to stay in the bunk bed in the rec room (which also has a private bathroom). The location was awesome, directly on the beach with a beautiful view from the upstairs deck. It was such a thrill to sit on the deck and watch dolphins swimming right in front of the house! Everything was in excellent condition and was exactly as it appeared in the pictures. The space was large and had plenty of room to spread out, which was nice for traveling with extended family. TVs with Rokus in every bedroom also meant we could spend some quiet time apart when we needed to, but come back together in the living area or on the deck. We had a very minor, non emergency maintenance issue which popped up on a Sunday afternoon, and the owner quickly responded to my text and had a handyman at the house the following morning. Overall I would enthusiastically recommend Retrouvaille to anyone traveling with a large-ish group (we had 7 adults and 2 children), or anyone with mobility issues that make stairs a challenge. I will note that the private beach access to get from the house to the beach does require the use of stairs, as well as walking up & down a sandy dune/hill which was challenging for me as a person who is able-bodied but quite out of shape but I honestly don't know if you could find any better in the area. The handrail on the stairs leading down to the sand was also pretty weathered and splintery which made me a bit nervous for my young children but they were fine. We had a wonderful stay and would 1000% book again!

Pine Knolls Shore- Retrouvaille

Location was beautiful since you are literally on your own private beach. The street itself was very cool how each of the houses fit into the ecosystem. The house was privately set on a really wide beach. Especially during the COVID pandemic you could have easily 300 feet between yourself and the next closest person on the beach. The tide would get low enough for small kids and had large enough waves to keep the big kids busy. The 2nd floor porch is the highlight of the house. It has a hammock, two rocking chairs, benches and seating for the entire family with shade and a view to die for. The house had plenty of room. Technically 5 bedrooms if you counted the playroom. The playroom was fun for the kids and kept the adults entertained with some ping pong. All the bedrooms were spacious and most of them had their own bathroom. The kitchen was large enough to cook in and eat in. If you are a coffee drinker than bring your own. The coffee maker was terrible. The upstairs has two large dining room tables with one in the kitchen and one in an additional foyer type room. They are both perfect for a large family or small family. Very nice quality. Tons of tv's so plenty of ways to watch your shows. All the tv's, cable, and wifi were up to date and perfectly modern. The living room upstairs was super comfortable and had an amazing view. i could sit there all day long. The sliding doors out of the living room and the master bedroom to the upper deck were rusted and didn't lock. you would use a wood plank wedged in the sliding door slot to lock the doors. i guess the area is safe enough to do this, but having actual locks on the sliding doors would be better. we didn't cook, but tried to use the grill once. It could use a good cleaning, so we decided to order in. The shower in the master bathroom could use an updating so we just used one of the other ones, but it has a nice big hot tub in the master bedroom. Unfortunately, during our stay we had to let in a plumber and allow some workers to drop off carpet in the garage. . It wasn't a big deal and Monique the property manager was super nice and apologetic about it, and Jeff the property owner got back to me when i had some questions. So i didn't feel like it was a big deal. Overall its a beautiful location, big fun house and so many memories can be made there.

Wonderful Beach House on the Ocean

We have stayed at at least 10 different properties on Emerald Isle over the years, and this was by far the best. Well stocked and well maintained, I can't say enough good about the property. Beach access was easy -- not nearly as many steps as other places we've stayed, and the indoor elevator was a blessing to us older folk, as we brought our luggage up to the bedrooms. Best beach house ever

Everything was wonderful about our stay. The house itself was spectacular. It is well furnished with solid wood dining and bedroom furniture. Deck furniture seemed well made as well and the hammock on the top deck was awesome. Views from the deck were wonderful - so close to the ocean. My 97 year old mother spent most of her time just sitting there and watching the waves. The elevator is what made it possible for her to go with us, and it worked well. The house was spotless, and the kitchen was well equipped. The beach was beautiful. There were other people around but it was not at all crowded. We saw dolphins on our last morning! The communication with the owner and his representative Debbie was great. Debbie was proactive about getting us settled in and even found us an elevated toilet seat for my mom to use while we were there. When we broke a coffee carafe one morning Debbie was able to get us another coffee maker to use the same day. We had a great stay in this house! It is the nicest beach house we have ever stayed in!

Amazing Week

This beach house was great for our extended family. Jeff was quick to answer any questions we had about an issue and followed up to make sure everything was fine. The location is beautiful and the house is well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed a week full of wonderful memories!!

Great place

Great place.Everything about 119 Pinewood was perfect for our group. The downstairs king suite and nearby large play room, which housed bunkbeds and a crib, was perfect for my son, his wife, his two-year-old, and his four week old. The two queen bedrooms upstairs worked well for my daughter and her husband and for extra stuff. The king suite upstairs worked great for my wife and me. But the best thing about this house is its location, which couldn’t be better. It is close to the ocean, the views are spectacular, and the open spaces are more than sufficient. And for us, the elevator was a requirement and made all the difference. We definitely will consider a repeat performance.

Perfect!

We've been coming to Pine Knoll Shores every year for about 20 years. The view from this house was the best we've ever had. When we weren't on the beach, we were sitting out on the deck overlooking the ocean. The house was very clean and well equipped. There was plenty of space and the whole group enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend this place! You won't be disappointed!
