Beautiful Getaway!

Relaxing stay in SW Colorado. Beautiful house. Great for families! Very convenient for a trip to Mesa Verde National Park. Other attractions close by are Hovenweep National Monument and Canyons of the Ancients. Cortez and Dolores are short drives from the property and have many good restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed Beny's Diner, Burger Boy Drive-in, Once Upon a Sandwich, and Dolores Brewing Company.

Spectacular Retreat

This is an outstanding property in a spectacular setting. The main level is the upper one and it is easily capable of allowing 10 or more people to cook, dine, relax, and entertain each other in refined southwestern comfort. For the cooks, there’s at least one of everything you would hope for (including sharp knives!), and several you wouldn’t. The location feels remote, but it’s really quite close to everything you’ll need. In particular, you’ll only be 20 min from the visitor centers at Mesa Verde and Canyon of the ancients. If those are sites you’d like to explore we can highly recommend Durango River Trippers who offer private and group tours. They are very knowledgeable and gave us a much more expansive and deep appreciation of the ancient puebloan culture than we ever could have get on our own.The master bedroom suite is an elegant oasis and the three guest rooms are very comfortable and have their own kitchen and breakfast table. The linens and bedding are first rate and we found the pillows comfortable. We would love to return some day!

Lovely house and location.

Didn't realize from the description that the property allows pets. It was a bit of a problem in that some of our members are alergic. The property is described as having air conditioning, which is really a stretch. Only one bedroom had an AC unit, and it's so laoud there's to possibility of running it an night while trying to sleep. There is also an AC unit in the kitchen/dining room, but it is hopelessly undersized and has little effect.

The house was perfect for our family and quite HUGE! The only thing that was we did have to drive a little further to the ski resort for our kids to enjoy sking at Purgatory Resort.
