Welcome to Hilo Hale Kaumana! Minutes from Downtown Hilo, this home has everything you need for that getaway to the Big Island. Sleeps 6

This fully renovated and beautifully decorated 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is the relaxing retreat you’ve been seeking. The quiet neighborhood in part of historic Hilo backs up to a greenbelt on a dead-end street. Rainbow Falls is just a short drive, as is downtown Hilo and Bayfront.

The kitchen is easy to work in and of course has all the amenities that you’ll need to cook up those scrumptious island meals. Eat inside or dine outside on the screened-in lanai!
The living room is comfortable with a smart TV for streaming (no cable), and the house does have high-speed wireless internet through Spectrum.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and ensuite bath with tub/shower combo, and the guest bedrooms have a queen and a full/double bed. There’s also a full guest bath also with a tub/shower combo. Both bathrooms have combination tub/showers.

From this convenient location, explore old Hilo town with its great farmers market, historical museums, wonderful restaurants and more. Don’t miss Richardson’s, Carlsmith or Onekahakaha Beach Parks! Also discover beautiful Akaka Water Falls Park, the 4-mile scenic loop at Onomea Bay, and the Old Mamalahoa Highway - the original highway built back in the 20’s that took you from Hilo town to the beautiful horse country of Waimea.

Sweet little house up the hill from town and beaches, nice and clean and quiet. Note there is no AC but with fans supplied and cool night air it was ok, just a little stuffy mid-afternoons.

Explanation for my 4 star rating

My family and I were very impressed with this home. the reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating was because the yard needed to be mowed, and weeding needed to be done especially around the entrance and front yard. Also, there was a little musty smell in the house. Everything else was excellent!

Beautiful Neighborhood

Loved the area! House was clean. Funny part was when a neighbor asked if we seen a goat running around. I guess someone lost their pet goat. Would definitely stay at this property again!

Very Recommended

I highly recommend this place for your vacation. They have everything you needs and the house is clean. They even have grill for those who love bbq. My love ones want to come to this place again. Lovely house and neighbors. Big Mahalo to the owner and agent. Very professional how you handle all the process.

we enjoyed our stay, enjoyed the neighborhood. It was a peaceful and comfortable home base for exploring the big island. Minor note to the management people: There is a leak from the roof in the lanai by the door (over the rug).

Wonderful stay

A perfect home base while we settled our son into the dorm at UH Hilo. Quiet neighborhood and close to everything we needed. Already looking forward to a return trip!

Excellent for a short time stay. Nice quiet neighborhood.

A pleasant Hawaiian type house. We loved it, but if you want TV and air conditioning, this is not your place. Inconvient to have to take trash because of an early morning flight.

It is located in a quiet neighborhood and is close to downtown Hilo and several beaches. It is also very easy to get to Volcano National Park.

It was fine.

It wasnt filthy, but it could have been cleaner. Everything was neat & tidy. There were cockroaches, like a lot of them. We kept no food out. But for example after washing the dishes and letting the drain there were tons of roaches on the counter in the sink on the dishes that were just washed. Other than that it was decent. Was in a convenient location to the places we were visiting, nice quiet neighborhood. Wouldnt recommend really cooking due to the roaches.

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at the Hilo Hale Kaumana during our recent trip in January 2023, to visit family members who live nearby, and still have our own place with other family who came with us. It was great to have 2 full bathrooms along with 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen w/dishwasher, oven, stovetop, microwave, washer and dryer (right in carport) and lanai. Very nice place to stay, close to downtown Hilo and nearby beaches, and other sites. Would definitely rent this house again! Mahalo! :)
