About Andrea Lievens

Jean and Jim Lievens purchased this property in 1991. They first started with the infrastructure and later the farm house on a site which captures quite a view. Jean loves this special area and has decided to share this lovely spot with other travelers and friends. Though the farm is not yet developed, a plan is in place to create a botanical garden. Guests and friends will enjoy watching this verdant land come alive. This property is managed by Brian and Andrea Lievens.

The property is very clean and well maintained. Modern conveniences in a lush quiet environment. The owners went out of their way to make us comfortable. Providing a pack-n-play for our 8-month grandson. Our 5-year-old grandson enjoyed being able to explore and play without fear of bothering neighbors. The views of the ocean, the foliage, and the volcano is spectacular. We loved hearing the coqui frogs sing at night and the cool breezes. We highly recommend this property for a vacation retreat.

Our Big Island Getaway

This is not our first time at this Property and it won't be our last. The soothing sound of Coqui Frogs at night and now O'Malley the cat has friends! While Akaka Falls is a couple miles away, no traffic. Well kept property.

Private Nest Above the Treetops

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful home perched high on the mountaintop. Totally secluded and private, yet close to everything. The sweetest and ripest fruit came from the nice folks with the fruit stand at the entrance to the road. Delicious local Hawaiian fare at the Low Store in Pepe'ekeo; giant array of tasty jams and spreads to go on fresh bakery from Mr. Ed's Bakery in Honomu. Favorite friendly lunch spot was Papa'aloa Country Store & Cafe. The house is wonderfully appointed that after exploring and lunch out during the day, we'd be happy to hurry home for the sunset and to listen to the frogs and night sounds and dine evenings at home, followed by some time in the hot tub under the stars. Total relaxation. We hope to return again soon!

We recently spent 5 days at this home and it was just what we needed. Our elderly parents were able to sit on the lanai and enjoy the spectacular views while we made day trips to Volcano National Park, Waipio Valley, and Papakolea Beach. This home is close to many wonderful site-seeing opportunities, yet remote enough to be peaceful and relaxing. The frogs singing at night and the hot tub on the lanai were added bonuses!

The house was clean and had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant.

If we ever make it back to the Big Island, we would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Akaka farms property for 5 nights. The property is beautiful and the house is very well supplied. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. They even had a cooler and umbrellas available. The location was great for exploring Hilo, Volcano Park, and the surrounding areas. I wish we could have stayed longer.
