Hi, I have lived in Tucson since 1987 in West University neighborhood. It is a very vibrant place, lots of fun and exciting things to do all within walking distance. Besides hosting new and interesting people, I am a blown glass artist, co-own a restaurant called Mother Hubbard's-great food!, and a Mom.
I love to swim, practice yoga, river rafting, go for long walks or hikes, and work on new glass pieces when I can. Life is full and fun, especially with my daughter who loves the performing arts.
Being a host has allowed me to meet lots of wonderful people, some of them becoming good friends. I am always happy to share my knowledge of Tucson, my favorite places and anything else that will enhance my guest's stay in the ol'Pueblo...
Debra purchased this apartment in 2000
I have always loved and lived in older homes. The construction is solid, unique, with great detailing that you don't normally find in newer buildings. I love the challenge of renovating places with good bones, preserving the old, and adding something new. This is a great neighborhood, West University, one of the oldest in Tucson!
The proximity to everything Tucson is a major plus. You can walk to most venues, and the rest are a short drive to get there. Easy access to I-10, walkability score of West University neighborhood is very high.
Our stay at Casa Amarillo was great! Very clean; close to shops on 4th, Tucson Visitor Center and the university; coffee, shampoo, body wash, conditioner and blow dryer provided along with lots travel brochures. A future stay in Tucson will include this charming casita!
Fit our needs perfectly for family weekend. Close to downtown and 1 mile from U of A. Debra was great! She met us on the property when we arrived even with our delays.
This was the second time that I stayed in Debra's adorable bungalow, and it was just as warm and hospitable this time as it was before. On this trip, we rented both of the bungalows, they are both equally as charming as the other. Debra, the host is lovely and greets you to make sure that you are comfortable. Having coffee in the unit is a big plus for me, and saved me having to go out for my morning dose of coffee. The beds are really comfortable and the units are quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend staying in either of Debra's darling bungalow's!
The casita was secure, comfortable and has everything I needed--hair dryer, toiletries, coffee, filters, and more. I would stay there again. Owner Deb was flexible and easy to work with.
I had a wonderful 2 week stay in the east casita while I was in town working at Centennial Hall on campus. At a mile door to door it was an easy commute. The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Debra was great to deal with and her restaurant had fantastic food!
I stayed in the west apartment for a weekend to attend my nephew's graduation from the UofA and had a wonderful time. The apartment is airy, clean and comfortable with a real "home" feel. It was a short walk to 4th Street and a short drive to the UofA campus. The area around the apartment has vintage houses which made for great picture taking opportunities. Deb was wonderful to work with and I will definitely stay here again! On another note - try Mother Hubbard's for breakfast - it is operated by Deb, is just down the street and has great food!
A great pedestrian neighborhood, great local bus service and now the streetcar construction is complete, up and running! In close proximity to the University of Arizona, 4th Ave. Shopping District, and Downtown Tucson, which offers many music and great dining venues, wonderful natural food coop within walking distance , nightlife, and entertainment, lots of excitement, lots of fun!
