This comfortable and secluded log cabin with stunning, rare panoramic views is situated on 15 private acres, half park-like with winding grass trails, half forested. Family-friendly, chef-friendly, reader, writer, and bird-watcher paradise. We have relocated to the Netherlands and are opening our beloved cabin for others to enjoy and to experience.
Perfect for families traveling with children who like to travel light as the cabin has bedrooms comfortable for kids to stay in (including crib, junior bed, futon bed, 2x twin beds). High chairs, toys, books, and games are available, there is a sandbox and a sports field on the property.
The house is on the top of a hill overlooking a valley to the north (John Burroughs’ Woodchuck Lodge is right across the valley!), with gardens wrapping all around it. There is always a sunny or shady spot to find and fresh mountain breeze to enjoy. The house does not have AC as we haven’t needed it because of the setting, even during warm summer months.
Easily accessible from a town-maintained road that gets snow ploughed in winter.
On the ground floor, you will enter through the mud room (handy for boots, skis, summer gear) to the living-dining area. Large, well-lit dining table that comfortably seats 8 adults. Mountain views from the dining table. Two Stokke kids' chairs available. Kitchen that opens to the living room. Kitchen was renovated in April 2021 and is equipped with everything a chef may need, including KitchenAid large stove, KitchenAid stand mixer, KitchenAid food processor, KitchenAid glass water kettle with adjustable temperature setting (perfect for formula and teas), Smeg fridge, coffee grinder, Nespresso coffee maker and milk frother, French press, bread toaster, Le Creuset bakeware, Kohler tap with cold water filter, and variety of other kitchen tools and equipment.
The living room has a Jotul wood stove, 3p sofa, kids' kitchen, Sony music player (CD/radio/Bluetooth) and speakers, access to the wrap-around deck.
Main bathroom has vintage wash bin, full claw tub, and separate shower. Asko washer and dryer, Stokke baby tub, Keekaroo peanut baby changer, iron and ironing board, double laundry hamper, scale.
Master bedroom has a queen bed, cedar wood walk in closet, desk and chair, night stands and bed lights, with beautiful views on the garden and access to the deck.
Upstairs you will find one bedroom with two stackable twin beds, Stokke crib sofa, stunning view. Second bedroom with queen bed, wardrobe, desk and chair. Third bedroom has a queen bed, desk and chair, drawers. Fourth bedroom has a Stokke junior bed, twin sofa bed. The house has 5 bedrooms: the master downstairs , 4 upstairs.
Upstairs bathroom has nature stone shower, sky light, plenty of space for toiletries. Towels available. Toiletries provided from Public Goods (shower gel, shampoo, lotion, hand soap, hand sanitizer).

Opus 40
• Constructed by this one man, using dry-key stone techniques adapted from the Mayans, Opus 40 is made from millions of pieces of indigenous bluestone, laid by hand, creating a labyrinthine world of finely fitted stone, swirling with ramps and terraces constructed around pools and trees and fountains, rising out of bedrock a half mile deep. One can walk through, around, and over it, from the deepest recesses of its subterranean path¬ways (16 feet below ground) and up to the nine-ton monolith that is the epicenter and summit of the sculpture (three stories above ground). Opus 40 is a breathtaking blend of artistry and landscape. Opus 40 has been designated A National Historic Place. May 19 thru October. 50 Fite Road, Saugerties, NY 12477
