About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Delight in the rustic elegance of this log home near the Bozeman Pass in the Bangtail Mountains. All of the comforts of home await our guests in this beautiful home situated at 6,000 feet among the aspen trees, tall native grasses, and pine forest. The home is fully furnished. The main level has hardwood maple floors, the upper floor is carpeted, and the basement has tile on radiant slab heat. The main living area is heated with the radiant stone fireplace. The outdoor hot tub under the stars is sure to relax after a long day hiking, having adventures in Yellowstone National Park or on the area rivers.

The fully-equipped, tiled kitchen, and adjoining, formal dining room, are also warmed by the radiant stone fireplace. Laundry facilities are available for your convenience as well as satellite TV, satellite wireless internet, VCR/DVD, games, books, and barbecue grill. The master bedroom has high ceilings, two balconies, mountain views, and a tiled Jacuzzi bath.

This secluded and elegantly furnished, four bedroom, 2 ½ baths home, sleeps 8-10 comfortably. Bedrooms include one king size bed, a queen bed, two twin beds, and a combination bunk bed; single above, double below, with a single trundle bed. Other sleeping options include a double hide-a-bed in the recreation room, and if you like sleeping outdoors the tipi has a double futon and a single cot.

Enjoy 45 acres of lush, mountain hillsides with wildflowers, hiking trails, abundant wildlife and a tipi, across the road near the creek. A year round cutthroat spawning creek meanders gently through the property with many hidden springs flowing into the creek.

In Montana we tend to have extreme weather year round. Please prepare for this by choosing to bring a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

About Lauren Kozlow

We built and participated in the design and construction of this home in the mountains between Livingston and Bozeman in 1995 as a place to raise our three children, then ages 9, 11 and 13. They are grown and live in NY, VA and MT. We are now living and working in Billings, making our home available to vacation renters. This is a perfect spot for a quite retreat with a loved one and large enough for a family reunion. Lots of hills to climb and forest/creek to explore, along with a night in the tipi across the road, down by the creek. One night we were wakened by a mama and baby moose feeding in the willows next to the tipi, we watched them in the moonlight for a long time. These are magical moments.

Lauren Kozlow purchased this house in 1995

Why Lauren Kozlow chose Yellowstone Country

We are only 20 minutes from the Yellowstone River and some of the world's best fly fishing and one hour from Yellowstone National Park. Bozeman is a half hour away and Livingston even closer. Bridger Bowl ski area is 40 minutes via Jackson Creek Road.

What makes this house unique

Having the mountains in our backyard and the creek to play in added a unique dimension to our children's lives. One could feel the peacefulness of the area as soon as one started the five-mile drive home after working in town all day. Sitting on the deck and watching the sunset is a moment to cherish. We are still in awe of the great beauty here and are very happy to share our home with our guests. The wildflowers in spring and summer cover the hillsides around the house. If you like bird watching the deck is a great place to sit with a bird book and binoculars. Moose feed on the willows down by the creek, black bear visit occasionally, deer are abundant and a herd of elk may wander through the property depending on the time of year. There is never a dull moment in nature at Aspen Hill Retreat.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We decided to have our annual girls vacation at Aspen Hill Retreat and it has been an amazing time. The cabin is beautiful and well cared for. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place. We saw a momma moose and her baby on hill above the teepee. Snow shoeing, cooking healthy food, hot tubing and most importantly have a cozy beautiful space to escape the "real world" and enjoy each others company has made this a trip we'll never forget!! Happy New Year!

Wonderful place!

We had our family Christmas at this house and loved it. We felt at home. It was decorated for us, the fireplace was cozy, and the house was very clean and well cared for! We stayed busy with sledding and snowmobiling. I would book this house again!

We loved everything about this property! The many decks provided relaxing moments throughout the day. The hot tub was enjoyable. The kitchen was a cooks dream. I was sad when we had to leave!

Ideal gathering place for a family reunion

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful home-away-from home this was for a two week family reunion. We had family members from three continents, with ages from 8 to 80 staying here, and everyone absolutely loved the place. Our home is a small cabin nearby, so it was great for us to have the extra room and the convenience of a large place to gather for meals and telling stories of our days' adventures (white water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, touring Yellowstone Park, shopping in Bozeman and Livingston). Some of the more intrepid younger generation slept out in the tipi for a night or two, although the mosquitoes drove them back indoors eventually. Soaking in the hot tub after the children were asleep, watching the multitude of stars slide by was a highlight.

The home was clean and well organized, with lots of extra linens, blankets, pillows and towels as well as a great laundry room to keep up with an active family. The big kitchen was a delight to use. Lauren and Michelle were very responsive when we had questions. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to stay in their home.

So Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

The home and property were beyond our expectations. Beautiful-would love to come back! We went hiking, enjoyed the jacuzzi, and the kids loved the teepee. Good location in the "wilderness" but not too far from freeway access, Livingston, & Bozeman. Big and roomy for our 2 families. Loved it!

Absolutely Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Lauren for letting us enjoy your beautiful home. It was so relaxing sitting on the top deck enjoying the amazing views all around, waking up to birds singing. The house was much bigger than I thought so there was plenty of room for everyone. Not to mention all the privacy. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a getaway.
