About Lauren Kozlow

We built and participated in the design and construction of this home in the mountains between Livingston and Bozeman in 1995 as a place to raise our three children, then ages 9, 11 and 13. They are grown and live in NY, WA and MT. We are now retired and living in Livingston making our home available to vacation renters. This is a perfect spot for a quite retreat with a loved one and large enough for a family reunion. Lots of hills to climb and forest/creek to explore. One night we were wakened by a mama and baby moose feeding in the willows next to the tipi, we watched them in the moonlight for a long time. These are magical moments.

Lauren Kozlow purchased this house in 1995

Why Lauren Kozlow chose Livingston

We are only 20 minutes from the Yellowstone River with some of the world's best fly fishing and one hour from Yellowstone National Park. Bozeman is a half hour away and Livingston even closer. Bridger Bowl ski area is 40 minutes via Jackson Creek Road.

What makes this house unique

Having the mountains in our backyard and the creek to play in added a unique dimension to our children's lives. One could feel the peacefulness of the area as soon as one started the five-mile drive home after working in town all day. Sitting on the deck and watching the sunset is a moment to cherish. We are still in awe of the great beauty here and are very happy to share our home with our guests. The wildflowers in spring and summer cover the hillsides around the house. If you like bird watching the deck is a great place to sit with a bird book and binoculars. Moose feed on the willows down by the creek, black bear visit occasionally, deer are abundant and a herd of elk may wander through the property depending on the time of year. There is never a dull moment in nature at Aspen Hill Retreat.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We decided to have our annual girls vacation at Aspen Hill Retreat and it has been an amazing time. The cabin is beautiful and well cared for. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place. We saw a momma moose and her baby on hill above the teepee. Snow shoeing, cooking healthy food, hot tubing and most importantly have a cozy beautiful space to escape the "real world" and enjoy each others company has made this a trip we'll never forget!! Happy New Year!

Our Spring Vacation was awesome.

  • 5 of 5

There was 14 of us and our dogs too. I was wonderful being able to take our dogs. My son is a disabled vet and has a service dog and he would not of attended if dogs were not allowed. Loved having the large dinning area for meals, crafts and games. We also enjoyed the hot tub, it was pretty cool being able to smell the trees while we were sitting out side! Much nicer than a motel. Thanks again for a wonderful trip. And a special thanks to Lauren Kozlow, she was awesome and answered all of our questions, and even mailed back the dog food that we had forgotten.

Great Place to Play and Relax

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here 12/31/2017 - 1/3/2018 and had a blast.

This is a very quiet location tucked away in a quiet canyon filled with trees and big open blue sky. The home is 3 levels with a LARGE master bedroom at the top, 2 bed rooms on the second/main floor just off of the kitchen and the 3rd room on the ground/lower floor. This gave our family lots of privacy but the large kitchen/dining/living room on the second/main floor was a great open space where we could cook/eat and play games together. We had 8 adults and never felt crowded. The place is fully stocked with everything you will ever need from every size of pot and pan, to dishes, utensils, hot pads, games, kid toys, movies, and even a spotting scope to view the wildlife. There is a wood fireplace, hot tub, and plenty of bathrooms to accommodate your stay. The location is great as some of our group went to explore Yellowstone while another couple decided to snow shoe just out the front door. The rest of us sledded in the fresh snow or sat on the balconies enjoying the crisp mountain air. Our hosts were awesome, very clear instructions and super-fast and clear when responding to questions. House rules were not overbearing and appropriate. We had a wonderful time here and truly enjoyed the solitude and the beautiful home and location for our family retreat. We would highly recommend the Aspen Hill Retreat for anyone who wants or needs to get away from the rat race!

Such a nice, sunny and warm, cozy, clean place!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time staying at your mountain house. There was plenty of room for sleeping. The master bedroom was huge. It was just the 4 of us. Our daughter and her boyfriend live nearby so it was nice to have a diner party with their local friends. The toddler toys were appreciated. The kitchen was great for cooking and the living room had an awesome wood stove/fireplace with plenty of wood and comfy couches. The house was always warm from the fire. We saw lots of shooting stars while soaking in the hot tub. The views were beautiful and we saw a buck on the side of the house as we drove up the driveway. We went to Bridger Bowl snowboarding on opening day. It was an excellent mountain for all levels. Also went snowmobiling, hot tubing at Boiling River and Chicos, hiking to Pine Falls in Yellowstone, fishing and shopping in Bozeman and Livingston. Thanks for making our vacation fun and relaxing by sharing your beautiful home.

Amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a getaway and ski trip to Big Sky. The location is perfect, it is close enough to town (Livingston) but remote enough to feel like you are away from it all. We loved the cabin, and the hot tub was amazing! Lauren was very helpful!! Highly recommend this cabin!!

Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

This property was one of the best maintained and stocked VRBO locatione we’ve ever encountered!

Property owner was responsive and accommodating.

We had fantastic weather for late November. Heads up for other winter users that the road to this property may require chains on your vehicle depending on weather.
