This large, beautiful, Hawaiian home is located in a prestigious east Honolulu neighborhood. It is a huge, tropically-landscaped lot with a heated, tiled, blue bottom swimming pool. The house is fully furnished as the owner lives there part of the year. All amenities are included. We provide all your soaps, shampoo, cream rinse, laundry soap and dish soaps. We are trying to save you money on baggage so you don't have to check your luggage.
We are in Hawaii Kai close to Hanauma Bay. We are about 20 minutes from Waikiki and about 30 minutes from HNL. The Koko Marina is a block and ½ away and has an 8 Plex Movie Theatre with Stadium Seating, Foodland Grocery Store, Starbucks, Subway, 24 Hour Fitness and a number of other restaurants and shops. Costco, Safeway, Longs and Ross are also close by.
The house easily accommodates two families with separate living areas. The house has 2 living rooms, one downstairs with a queen bed and one upstairs with a king bed. The master bedroom has a king bed and a large separate dressing area and bathroom. One bedroom downstairs has 2 queen beds, two others have one queen bed each and another has a twin day bed with a twin trundle. We also have a full size crib and a pack and play.
The swimming pool is heated by solar panels and is beautiful. Half the pool is quite shallow so it is the perfect pool for small children. The pool is fenced and attached to the house for
your private use.
We have 4 televisions and DVD players. There are games for the whole family, cribbage, dominos, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, and others.

Why Melanie Fox chose Hawaii Kai
We love this area for it's beauty and access to the ocean. It is so close to everything we need yet tropical and remote feeling. Hanauma Bay Beach Park is .4 miles from our door. It is the most popular visitor attraction on Oahu. It is always a fantastic day of snorkeling there. The bay in front of our house is perfect for Paddle Boarding and Kayaking. The Koko Marina Shopping Center is about 2 blocks away (walking distance) and has everything you could need. There is a Foodland Grocery Store, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, 24 Hour Fitness, Gas Station, Nail Salon, and Movie Theatre. There are are a 1/2 dozen Restaurants too.
What makes this House unique
You will love the sounds of morning birds and the smell of Plumera Blossoms when you wake up here. And you can grab a Mango from the tree for a Tropical Smoothie. Take a leisurely walk on the beautiful quiet streets in the neighborhood with the most incredible view of Diamond Head.

Melanie, your home was just what we expected and more. It was clean, comfortable and good location.
Well we have been home for a week and experiencing snow flurries and temps in the 30s. Sure do miss your hot and humid weather! Our family had a wonderful time in Honolulu. So much to see and do, or just relax on a beach. We have great memories!
You and your brother were very helpful and accommodating. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Wonderful Family Vacation
We stayed for 1 week at Melanie’s vacation home. The property is in a lovely location close to grocery stores, shopping, Hanauma Bay and many great hikes. Only a short drive into Waikiki for those wanting a bit more action. The pictures posted are accurate and the home & kitchen were extremely well stocked. The beach towels, snorkeling gear & boogie boards were a nice inclusion. Melanie was extremely helpful and easy to work with. We had a great time!!
Great property, location and management
My family, 10 adults, 3 children had a dream vacation in Oahu, Hawaii Kai, Portlock Road property.
We celebrated Christmas and New Years in paradise.
Melanie and her team provided a clean fully equipt house in a great location. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood close to grocery stores, restaurants.
We would certainly rebook this house if we were to return for a reunion vacation on Oahu.
Thank you Melanie for making our 4 generation family reunion vacation a memory we will all cherish and hopefully do again.
Terry Prychitko and family
I sure hope you can come come back! It was wonderful to meet all your family and I would love to see you all again!
Our family was looking for a special place to celebrate a 50th anniversary. We found it in this house. It was located so conveniently to all the places we wanted to go, right around the bend from Hanauma Bay, only about 15 minutes from Honolulu and Waikiki, depending on traffic, and within walking distance to a beach where you could watch the water and the sunset. There were a couple of shopping areas within a quarter mile so getting groceries for a group of 9 ranging from age 10 to 73, and with divergent tastes was a breeze. For truly unique pizza try Sophie's.
As to the house itself, there was plenty of room for all of us, the house was very clean and neat when we arrived. The bedrooms are set up to accommodate couples, singles, and children easily. Although there is air conditioning in every room, we found the breezes blowing off the ocean were enough to keep the temperature very comfortable, day and night. There is a covered patio by the pool so we were able to sit and relax even when there was a short-lived rain shower. Plenty of dishes, utensils and pots and pans made cooking easy. There were plenty of beach towels and other beach supplies for all. There is even snorkeling equipment available for guest use in the pool or at Hanauma Bay. To top it all off, when we arrived at the house Melanie, the owner, greeted us with snacks and drinks to temper our hunger after a long flight.
The owner has a home at the rear of the lot but Melanie was never intrusive and it was handy to have her available for questions or advice about where to go and what to see. We bumped into her a few times coming and going and shared our plans to get her reaction/recommendations.
All in all, the family was very happy with the house, the location, and our time together in Paradise.
Thank you Melanie
Thank you so much for staying in my home. You and your family were such wonderful guests and I enjoyed meeting you so much!
Fully loaded house and great host
We stayed at Melanie's place during August 2017. The house is fully loaded with everything you possible need. (pots, pans, plates, spices, laundry detergents etc.) . The house is very clean and Melanie was a great host. Very accessible. Quick (driving) access to all the beaches on the east coast. Also very close to restaurants and local groceries. Great location for those visiting Oahu for the first time, you can easily access all the urban sites (Waikiki, Pearl Harbor etc) and then very easily all the beaches and sites on the east coast.
The house has very ample sleeping space, we had a group of 14 and everyone slept comfortable. The house has 3 bathrooms so the bathrooms can get a bit crowded with a larger group but totally manageable. We did come across a few local insects inside the house but this is to be expected in Hawaii. Overall we would visit again and wanted to thank Melanie for being such a great host.
Great location, great size
We stayed in the house for 7 nights with 11 people in our group. It was in a great location, not in the really busy, congested areas but was really close to grocery stores, food places & inbetween the major things we wanted to see & do. We had 9 adults & 2 kids in our group, the pool was great & we enjoyed all the games that they furnished at the house that we could all play together. If we ever make it back to the island we would not hesitate to stay at this same house.
Here are some of the things we suggest for you to do on Oahu. PEARL HARBOR – PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE TO MAKE RESERVATIONS ON LINE FOR YOUR TRIP. HANAUMA BAY STATE UNDERWATER PARK (MUST DO) Fabulously beautiful beach with a calm inner reef and tame tropical fish. The outer reef has coral gardens, green sea turtles, and reef fish. The bluff above the bay has a great new visitor center which educates visitors about reef life. Closed Tuesdays. KAILUA BEACH & PARK (MUST DO) One of the world's top-rated beaches. KAHALA RESORT This is a beautiful Hotel with a DOLPHIN EXPERIENCE that is recommended for adults and children. The dolphins live in a lagoon on the property.
