About this property

Riverfront Cabin on the Madison! 35 minutes to Yellowstone Nat'l Park!!

Our custom built, 1600 sf cabin, which we affectionately refer to as 'The Fishing Shack', was completed in the fall of 2008. An additional 350 sf studio apartment was completed in 2013. The property is located on the Madison River, known for its majestic beauty and world class fly fishing. The cabin is a gorgeous, 35 minute drive to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park and about an hour to the winter hot spot, Big Sky Ski Resort. With its fabulous location, reclaimed barnwood floors, custom kitchen, 3 flat screen TVs, a Jotul wood-burning stove, and floor to ceiling windows, it is a magical vacation spot.

The primary suite has a queen bed with pillow top mattress, Smart TV, French doors opening to a 5 person Jacuzzi Tub overlooking the river, and a custom built pebble shower with dual shower heads (including a rain head). There are two bedrooms upstairs, each with log bunk beds (twin on top & queen below). Open the windows and let the smell of the mountains and the sound of the river lull you to sleep. The open loft has a cozy seating area, a third TV with DVD player, and game system for the kids (and the kids at heart). Directly on the river, you will find a large fire pit perfect for staying warm and making s'mores while watching the fishermen in your family catch that big brown just feet away.

Our cabin is located 30 minutes south of Ennis and 35 minutes from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It is situated in a friendly residential community with about six other homes and delightful neighbors. It is across the river from a Forest Service campground and a short walk to the world famous 'Grizzly Bar & Grill' (you must sample their delightful wine selection).

Fill the long summer days with activities such as fishing from the property, floating the Madison, exploring Yellowstone National Park, hiking beautiful mountain trails, horseback riding, listening to live music while sipping local wines and soaking in the Norris Hot Springs, experiencing an authentic Montana rodeo or riding the antique railway in historic Virginia City.

The house was very welcoming, extremely clean, and just a lovely riverfront cabin vibe. It was wonderfully stocked with all the necessities from steak seasonings to toilet paper and paper towels, and things that normally you don’t find. My family hiked in Yellowstone and fly fish in the evenings. And had coffee on the deck with warm comforters in the morning.

We just returned from staying a week at the “Fishing Shack” and absolutely loved everything about this cabin! The pictures of the cabin are great but wait until you see it for yourself, the owners really put their heart and soul into every detail and it showed! The sound of the Madison each night is something special. We loved the location as we could drive into the park or go the opposite way to Ennis and Virginia City. Amazing place!! We hope to return and definitely stay here again!!

Absolutely gorgeous view and beautiful home on the Madison River. Some days my family wanted to leave Yellowstone to spend time at this home, so that says a lot. Easy and pretty drive from the West entrance and a short drive to Historic Virginia City (mining town). Listening to the river and soaking up the mountain views from the spacious deck or hot tub made for a relaxing and comfortable trip. Hands down one of my family’s favorite vacations and this home played a big part in it. Definitely recommend it!

What amazing home and location! We had the most relaxing and fun trip! My husband keeps asking when we’re going back! The home has everything you need and the location is great, especially if you’re fishing. We spent a day in Ennis (30 minutes away), and went to Yellowstone which was about 40 minutes. My husband caught a rainbow trout close to the house. You’re not close to much but I think it made for a perfect trip. There is a restaurant in walking distance with great food and service (we’re from New Orleans so we think our food is the best but this was delicious)!Please note there is no a/c in the house but with the fans we were fine. We will definitely go back!!!

Beautiful cabin! . Very well stocked. Beautiful views. Loved listening to the river. The beds were so comfortable!! It was a bit far to drive to Yellowstone. It takes about 45 minutes. Ennis was a quaint ittle town with a great butcher shop. Owner was very responsive to an issue that we had. I would definitely stay again!

The cabin was amazing, the river was great, the communication with owner was great. Only negative was online it showed it was IN west yellowstone, its actually 40 mins west of west yellowstone so it was a LOT more driving than expected. The location is misrepresented on Vrbo
