We had a grand time at Firehole 418. We were busy in the Park most days, but the few meals we prepared at the cabin were easy to handle. There was quite a joke when we cut up a watermelon. All the kitchen tools were on hand, even a melon baller. IF you are used to the bare basics of a motel "suite" kitchen, you will be impressed with the supplies here.
Our family had plenty of space. We liked the dining table for ten, plus the 2 small tables and the picnic table. Always room to sit down and visit. There is a deck/porch on the front and the back.
It was great to have a dishwasher with soap, a washer/dryer with soap, and 2 coffee pots with coffee on hand. There are two refrigerators, so you can cool all your drinks. There are six bedrooms with a total of ten beds. We didn't need them all, but we enjoyed the space. Parking is right by the door, grocer and cafes are a few blocks. Only a half block from this cabin is a bakery. It has gluten-free bread if you need it. Also the old faithfull INN dining room had several choices for allergy.
The three bedrooms on the lower level stayed cool. The three bedrooms on the main level had fans provided. Each morning -- we were there in July, the temp was about 47 degrees. So there is no A/C. The afternoons were up into the 80s, so the early evening was warm inside.
We were happy to see big piles of towels. Having four bathrooms was good. The staff came by each day about noon to take away our trash. IT goes into the Bear-proof garbage trailer. All the trash cans in town have bear-proof lids. We didn't have any repair calls, or any problems with system functions. Another family member rented a small cabin in this group and it worked out well too.
