Excellent location. Sweet little house. Comfortable when there were four of us there, but it would be a little tight for more adults. We spread out through all three bedrooms.
We enjoyed our stay here in Livingston. The location was excellent, within easy walking distance to local shops, coffee shops, and restaurants. The VRBO had many special features, such as books, games, and a nice front porch for visiting and reading.
Great communication with the owner and she always made sure we had everything we needed. Fabulous location that made our lack of multiple cars no problem at all.
The home is clean, comfortable and safe, Just a few blocks to downtown. Kara gave us fishing advice. We loved our few days there and would gladly return.

We were happy to host you and your family. Please come visit us again!
A very convenient location to everything in Livingston walkable and very quiet. This historic home had everything that we needed for our stay. We did have to do some work while we were in town and having a desk and great Wi-Fi was key beautiful place would stay again
Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at this quaint home in Livingston. The property manager was so easy to work with and helped us sort out food issues on a holiday. The accommodations were perfect for my family and we could not have asked for a better place to stay for our family of six.
The place was very comfortable. It was a nice road trip to Yellowstone and we saw plenty of wildlife in the way to and from. It was easy to get groceries and have a meal at a few nice restaurants.
The Elliot Guesthouse was the perfect location for our trip to Livingston! It was about two blocks from the main drag and easy to get to. The house was very clean, had everything that we needed, and Kara was quick to answer the call and come help us when we locked ourselves out. Thank you! Highly recommend staying at her place if you are coming through town!
Very nice property with comfortable beds, great sitting and dining areas, well equipped kitchen. Roomy, quaint, lots of antique furnishings. Friendly helpful owner! Close to lots in very fun town.
Myself and some friends stayed at this home for a weekend of exploring Montana. Kara was super responsive with all my questions! The home was perfect and had many cute touches. Don't pass this place up when looking for a nice and affordable place to stay.
Nice cozy little house. Awesome location. Close to everything! The house was equipped with everything you could need. Maybe a few more ice cube trays would be nice! The house was very clean and well cared for. Would highly recommended!
The stay was good it was warm during our stay only one window AC.there were fans in every room but none turned on took a couple of hours to cool it down. We had everything else in towels, dishes, and other amenities.

The time period you stayed was uncharacteristically warm, near 100 degrees. We do have fans in every room that are fully operable. We double checked seeing your note. We enjoyed hosting you and sorry for your loss!
my sister and i stayed for almost a week ...in Livingston visiting family ... our first impression was... this is granma's house (which is a good thing !)
did not spend a lot of time at the house since we were out and exploring but it was nice to come "home" to a cool house on hot August days (and it was hot). we didn't even have to use the AC
the essentials are provided and comfy beds hot showers and coffee completed ours...
and just two blocks from downtown!!
the only thing it was missing was...
granma.

Liked: Location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
The location was great, walking distance to downtown. However, the furnishings are dated (not historic), mismatched, drabby and there were so many pieces of furniture and others things, it was not comfortable to spend time inside. We spent most of our time on the front porch when we were there but had to clean off the furniture beforehand. The flower boxes have seen better days and block the view of the street. The landscaping is overrun and needs trimming. The bathroom in one of the rooms is too small and impractical. No place for toiletries and a shower that would not accommodate a larger person. And, lastly, really no closets to speak of. We stayed 5 days so being able to hang clothes in a closet and not on a few hooks would have been nice.

The comments expressed by the guest are simply inaccurate and untrue. The furniture and many of the amenities in the home are indeed antiques and historic pieces. Many were owned by my great-great grandparents, dating to the late 1880s and early 1990s. They have been refurnished in period appropriate fabrics. The landscaping as well contains heritage plants, some of which are quite full. As the owner I spend many hours working in the yard. I do appreciate a less highly manicured look, rather more of a natural field effect that many Montanans appreciate. The front porch is open aired. It was cleaned prior to their stay. Winds do bring in debris. I checked in with the guest, as I do all of our guests, and was not advised of any issues. It is unfortunate that this guest seemed to have brought a perspective from elsewhere on her first visit to Montana.

Charming house but not sturdy enough for us.
We don't want to break anything in a house we rent. Being a family with a handicapped child, meant we felt a bit like walking on eggs this week. We loved the neighbourhood and town and Montana. The house was a great starting point for visiting Yellowstone and other attractions. Kara is a good host, but we think the house is in need of some serious maintenance.

We were disappointed to hear that our home did not meet what you were looking for. We checked in with you at least twice to see how your stay was going, and if there were any needs. We did not receive any feedback during your stay alerting us to problems. The Elliott Guest House is kept in excellent condition and maintenance, with current electrical, flooring, plumbing, structural, appliance, and infrastructure. It could be that the level of special needs for your child would be best met in a much more standard lodging choice. We wish you the very best.
This property is in a great location. We could walk to shops and restaurants and the park. Parking was not a problem all 7 days we were there. The three window A/C units were needed because it was in the 90's some of the days. Kitchen was well stocked. The bathroom in the primary bedroom (toilet, sink, shower) is very small but functional. The shower in the second bathroom is a little tricky to use because of the lack of space when the shower curtain is inside the tub. Loved the great supply of books, games, magazines, puzzles. There was also interesting historical information about the area on the walls and in the books. We also had good communication from the host.

About the host
Hosted by Kara Stermitz
Kara Stermitz is a fifth generation owner of the Elliott Guest House. Originally built by Kara's great-great grandmother, Sarah Schultz, the home was an early day boarding home for expectant mothers. Kara's great-great grandmother Sarah, a mid-wife, journeyed in her horse and buggy to outlying ranches to pick up expectant mothers. She pampered Mom and Baby, giving them respite they likely would not have again soon. Nowadays, Kara takes great enjoyment in offering the home to her guests as she raises her four children and works as a Marketing Administrator/Operations Manager for Confluence Consulting, a stream restoration and environmental consulting firm in Bozeman, MT. Kara has strong ties to Park County, as her family still ranches near Yellowstone Park. Kara is an avid flyfisher and can talk with you about many excursions and choices in the area. When she is not busy in Livingston, Kara chooses to travel elsewhere to flyfishing adventures!
Why they chose this property
Our property is well kept and ideally located for ease during your vacation. You will feel the authentic Montana experience when you stay with us. Kara is a fifth generation Montana girl! Our location is within walking distance to downtown Livingston and also Montana's Rib and Chop House. Enjoy your day our sightseeing, fishing, or hiking, and return at the end of the day to a pleasant walk downtown.
What makes this property unique
The Elliott Guest House is uniquely located in close proximity (within a short walking distance) to shopping, art galleries, a fitness center, the Firehouse 5 Playhouse, Blue Slipper Theater, Montana's Rib and Chop House, and other amenities. Within a 5 minute drive lies the Yellowstone River, and within 15-20 minutes' drive are the Spring Creeks. The Elliott House is meticulously cared for. We offer wifi, cable/satellite tv, laundry facilities, a fully stocked kitchen, and an extensive reading library.
