We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with the neighborhood, as we find Cardiff-by-the-Sea to be a safe, quiet, and relaxed coastal community. We wish we had been able to better help mediate the situation that arose due to your dog’s behavior. Following the first night of your stay, we were notified by guests in our adjacent property that your dog had been barking loudly since 5:30am. We attempted to reach you via text and phone but received no response. Following up in person later that morning, we informed your husband of the complaint and the local noise ordinance. In the following days, we received additional noise complaints from our other guests and two other neighbors. We again attempted to address the situation directly and suggested measures to reduce the noise such as ensuring the dog was not left alone. We were bummed to have to ask the dog to be removed from the property, as we generally love accommodating our guests’ pets.
