Stunning ocean views from the lanai, ocean front from the bedroom, the sounds of the surf on the rocks, and the spirit of Aloha welcomes you to our home in Hawaii. Kona Makai is a beautiful oceanfront complex with well maintained gardens, swimming pool, hot tub, gas barbeques, two tennis courts, covered parking, and access to snorkeling and scuba diving. The condo includes a full kitchen, washer and dryer, TV, DVD player, stereo/CD, and air-conditioning. The town of Kailua (shopping, restaurants) is a short walk, as are beaches and the Ali'i Garden Marketplace.

2017 note: Kona Makai will be undergoing a roof and solar project from March 20 - June 1. As of May 8, Building #1,2,3 and 6 roof work are done. Building #4 and 5 are scheduled to complete in May, with all roofs getting solar panels attached in June.

Who owns 1-202? We are a family of 4 who love Hawaii. The kids have amazing memories of the black crabs, the honu, the surf, and Kilauea. When we are not on the Big Island, we are happy to welcome guests to Kona Makai. 2017 is our 12th year renting to guests, and we are proud to have so many return guests year after year.

We comply with all Hawaii taxation and transient accommodation rental rules. Hawaii registration identification # W53666141-01 has been updated to GE-053-524-4800 and TA-053-524-4800 as of December 2016.

Welcome in advance to Hawaii.

Outstanding Condo and Location

We loved our stay at Kona Makai 1-202. It was one of the most well equipped condos we've stayed in and the views of the ocean from the lanai and the bedroom, and sound of the surf, along with the well-groomed garden were a delight. It has everything you'd want.

Great Location, Everything We Needed Was Here

We loved the location of this unit and enjoyed eating our breakfasts and dinners on the lanai overlooking the water. The sound of the surf through our bedroom window lulled us to sleep. The grounds are beautifully kept up and the owners are easy to reach if needed. They are also very organized and provided lots of information ahead and in the room. The wifi is great and the unit has everything one needs for the beach and for cooking meals. We had a wonderful holiday, enjoying this well-maintained, well-equipped unit at the Kona Makai and exploring the Big Island.

Amazing view

Great view, great location and great price! Loved hearing the waves crashing from the bed! The only downside was we only stayed 8 days :(

A heavenly retreat

As a former resident of Kailua-Kona, I periodically return to visit friends and plug back in to the Kona vibe. I am so thrilled to find my new retreat for those visits! Kona Makai (most especially Building 1) is as perfect as it gets...breathtaking views from the lanai of the gorgeous tropical grounds, the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean with daily dolphin shows, and the magnificent Hualalai. My soul is restored every time I'm here, and I'm so at peace that I actually forget there is a world outside of Kona Makai. From the minute I walked into the condo, I felt welcomed and at home. Jon and Suzanne have thought of practically everything to make your stay feel homey, from a comfy and cozy bed to a superbly well-stocked and tidy kitchen. The Good Lord willing, I will definitely return next year!

We love this place!

We have stayed in this condo several times. It provides a great landing place after a day's adventure on the island. Available are beach chairs, cooler, umbrella, boogie boards, basically what one needs for a day at the beach.

We also appreciate the view of the ocean. Every morning we saw dolphins while having breakfast on the lanai.

Grilling out on the patio and watching the sunset makes for the best evening.

It is a comfortable well kept condo. We will be returning.
