ONE MILE FROM CENTER OF HISTORICAL FLORENCE 5BD-5BA VILLA WITH STUNNING POOL!

Property type villa

Overview

About the property

Villa, 5 Bedrooms, 5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Only one mile from Porta Romana square (Piazzale di Porta Romana), a historical gate into the heart of the city of Florence, this beautiful Villa is located on the hill of 'Poggio Imperiale', immersed into the beauty of the Tuscan countryside surrounded by olive groves, gardens and fruit trees. The property looks out onto the beautiful Florentine hillside as well as Villa del Poggio Imperiale - from 1737 to 1860 residence of the 'Lorena' family, the Austrian Granddukes of Tuscany - and the Arcetri observatory where Galileo Galilei continued his astronomical research after being called to Florence in 1610 by Cosimo II dei Medici.

Location details: The villa is located only about one mile away from where the historic district of the city of Florence begins (Porta Romana square). The city center is thus easily and quickly accessible either by bus, taxi, rental car or even on foot. The 'heart' of the city center, such as the world renowned Ponte Vecchio bridge and the Uffizi museum are only about 3 km (1.9 miles) away. The main train station (Santa Maria Novella) and Piazza Duomo only 4 km (2.4 miles) away.

The nearest bus station is within walking distance as it is only about 0.4 mile away from the villa. At the same location of the bus station there is also a few excellent grocery stores, take out places, restaurant/pizzeria, pharmacy, bakery, cafes, etc.. Taxi service works very well too, as it only takes a few minutes to come and go from the heart of the historic district of the city to the villa.

The Villa estate has recently been fully renovated.

Rooms description: 5 double bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms (of which 3 are en-suite), dining room with large table seating up to 10 people, fully equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace and 48' LCD TV with SKY satellite channels, office room, laundry room (with washer and dryer), terrace with awning overlooking the pool and garden with new outdoors rattan furniture chairs and teak (wooden) table.

On request there is also a full bed available at the villa for an 11th guest.

The best of the best

We rent a Villa Le Fontanine house in September and October 2016 for 8 weeks. As our family is large we split our group into two parts.

It was the first time we have renting a house outside Brazil and from this experience we decided to repeat it every year.

The villa is beautiful, cozy and calm. Everything is clean and organized with great taste. A village has a huge outside area behind the house with an orchard full of fruits and a lovely vegetable kitchen garden. Every day the children had fun picking apples, plums, grapes, tomatoes, etc.

Antonello is a very attentive person, he answered all my messages very fast and with a lot of patience. We hired a cooking chef, Lorenzo, to prepare our dinner every night because we were with two kids and we didn’t want to leave the house at night. Lorenzo did all the shopping for us without even having to think about the menu. Our only work was geve him the weekly money.

I didn’t have any situation or something that we could complain or regret. On the contrary, this trip opened our minds to a new way of traveling. Renting a house you can really live the place you are. Joining in a day of locals and trying the their way of life is priceless.

At first we rented a car to travel around, but very soon we realized that as we loved to much drinking wine and we would like to travel all together, we returned the car and we had the entire journey by train. In the morning we woke up and decided where to go. We called the taxi and in 5 minutes we were at the train station. It was very easy. Firenze has trains to everywhere at all times.

We also did bike rides where the guide picked and left us at home. We knew beautiful bicycle routes and tasted local products like wine and olive oils.

Anything I say to relate our experince will be insufficient to describe our wonderful moments and feelings at Villa Fontanine.

Thank you Antonello for our lovely times. For sure we will never forget it.

A spectacular comfortable villa in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

choosing a villa from photos is not easy. But this one was all we expected and more. From the beauty of the property to the amenities...real strong hair dryers in each bathroom...unheard of...air conditioning which we did not need, a gorgeous pool, a fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities.

Tomasso, the driver the villa uses, was fabulous and we did a wine tasting with him one day. Olivia was available for anything we needed.

The only glitch was the need of a taxi for the 6 of us...all women...it is not an easy walk into town for the local bus. so we spent more money on taxis than budgeted. Yet, it was a short 10 minute ride.

Tomasso and his driver Marco were always available to take us places...including San Gimignano.

I would highly recommend this property. when you look at the main photo, our villa was to the right and not a part of this larger one shown. We felt it was like our home and easily adapted to it.

Perfect luxury estate in Florence

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful, charming villa was absolutely perfect for our large family vacation in Florence. We dream of returning soon! The location was outside of the city but a very short taxi or drive to the center. The pool was a great bonus for our toddler, who played in it regularly. Gorgeous grounds, wonderful dining areas and many lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. We had a cooking class in the kitchen from a chef referred to us by the owners. Amazing! It was a wonderful base from which to enjoy Tuscany, including a daylong trip to the Chianti area, enjoying wineries, cheese makers and olive oil producers. Florence of course is filled with all the activities you could desire, and we hope to come back soon. Thank you for a perfect trip.

Home Away From Home...

  • 5 of 5

It sure felt like home to all 9 of us during our 2 week stay in Italy. The owner of the estate, Alexandra, was extremely helpful from start to finish through the rental process. Her children, Olivia and Antonello are incredible hosts and were there for us upon our arrival and departure. They couldn't have been nicer or more attentive - they were a text or phone call away if we needed them which was very comforting.

Our family of five siblings (four of whom had spouses with) stayed for two weeks in this picture-perfect, ideally located, comfortable home. Five bedrooms and five baths allowed for each person to have ample personal space in addition to the inviting family spaces for gathering and conversation at the end of our days of touring. Located in close proximity to Florence, it was easy to maximize our Firenze Pass for our first three days and hop on trains to our overnights in Rome and Venice. We took our rental van on sightseeing day trips to beautiful Modena, Assisi, Cortona, Cinque Terre, San Gimignano, Volterra, Montepulciano and Sienna!

We packed a lot in so it sure was nice to come home to Villa Le Fontanine - it was everything we dreamed of so we hope to be back someday...

Grazie!

beautiful retreat (Aug 19-26th)

  • 5 of 5

We were 8 Canadians staying at this beautiful villa and did not feel cramped at all. The pool is a great asset for sure along with the stunning views! My advise is to rent a car, even just to get to supermarket, as it is not great walking on the narrow streets and very far. Also we used the driving services of Tomasso that also set up 2 private vineyard tours for a day. His service was very reliable and costs about 40 e/hour. We also took the bus into Florence, which is very close. We did a dinner at the villa with a chef that was recommended by the Villa, and were completely satisfied as the food and service was incredible. The owners daughter (Olivia) was really nice as well, giving us some fresh tomatoes and lettuce from their garden. The pool is cleaned daily and the chemicals are checked too. The grounds are stunning and well taken care of. Thanks to all at the villa for making our stay so memorable!
