About this property

ONE MILE FROM HEART OF HISTORIC FLORENCE, STUNNING 5BD-5BA VILLA W/ HEATED POOL!

This fabulous 5 Bedroom - 5 Bathroom Villa dates back to the XVIIIth century and lies on the hill of "Poggio Imperiale", one of the most exclusive residential areas of the city of Florence. Being only one mile away from Porta Romana square, a renowned "gate" into the heart of the historic district of the city, the villa is ideally located to visit Florence and its Tuscan surroundings at their very best!

Set within a 3 hectare (7.4 acres) estate, this delightful villa is flooded with sunlight and has recently been extensively and carefully renovated by the owners to the highest standards. All of the original charm and architectural features have been strictly maintained and are highlighted by the wonderful Tuscan landscape, second to none for its striking beauty.

Each living space has been exquisitely appointed to create a sophisticated and cozy atmosphere making the villa a truly unique gem, within just a few minutes from the very best that the city of Florence has to offer. The breathtaking views of the surrounding hills together with the tranquility of the estate create a relaxing, and peaceful atmosphere.

The property provides its guests with a unique blend of indoor and outdoor living, perfect for a family reunion, a group of friends traveling together, or an anniversary party…with its 5 wonderfully decorated bedrooms and bathrooms, the villa offers the ultimate accommodation for your dream luxury holiday in Florence!

The Garden.
The beautiful typical Tuscan landscape of the villa’s private garden, full of fruit and olive trees, roses, century-old cypresses and pine trees, can be enjoyed throughout the villa.

The garden also looks out onto the beautiful Florentine hillside as well as Villa del Poggio Imperiale – from 1737 to 1860 this was the residence of the "Lorena" family, the Austrian Grand dukes of Tuscany. And the Arcetri observatory where Galileo Galilei continued his astronomical research after being called to Florence in 1610 by Cosimo II dei Medici can be seen as well.

The Private Heated Pool.
The wonderful salt-water infinity pool sits right next to the villa’s terrace and garden and comes with a full set of comfortable sun loungers.
Being wonderfully exposed to the sun all day, the pool’s water gets really warm (around 31-32 Celsius/88-90 Fahrenheit) during the summer months, while it is heated during the Spring and Fall.

The Location.
The villa’s location is without any doubt one of its most unique and important features. While immersed in the beauty and quietness of the typical Tuscan landscape it is located just about a mile away from Porta Romana square (where the old city walls begin), and represents the beginning of the historic district of the city of Florence. So, all of the cities’ main points of interest can be easily and quickly reached in just a few minutes either by car, taxi, bus or even on foot.

Just to name a few examples, world-renowned Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) and the Uffizi museum (the very “heart” of the historical district) are only about 1.9 miles away, while the main train station (Santa Maria Novella) and Piazza Del Duomo (Main cathedral) are only about 2.5 miles away.

The nearest grocery stores, restaurant/pizzeria, pharmacy, bakery, cafes are located just within a 6-7 minute walking distance. At this same location it is also possible to take the bus that goes right into the heart of the center in just a few minutes.
Taxi service works perfectly as well, as taxis usually reach the villa within 3 to 5 minutes from the time they are called (nearest taxi station is only about 1 mile away).
Furthermore, from the villa it is possible to easily reach the road leading to the nearby Chianti villages (such as Greve, Panzano, Gaiole), the freeway to places like San Gimignano or Siena, and to the A1 Highway (to reach Rome, Milan, Naples or other places in Tuscany such as Pisa, Lucca).

The Layout.

Exteriors:
The outdoor area features a large terrace covered by an automatic awning and comes with a large teak wooden table and a full set of chairs (seating up to 12 guests). To the right of the terrace there is a small laundry room, equipped with a washer and dryer.
The private garden develops to the left and in front of the terrace, while the private pool is just below it. The whole outdoor area is immaculately kept at all times and is full of colorful flowers, rosemary and lavender bushes, as well as century-old cypress trees.

Fabulous
This is a fabulous property, wish we could have spend more time. Beautiful area, the backyard is overlooking the valley with Tuscan hills. We found the location superb, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but close enough to get a taxi for 10 Euros to be within the city in 10 mins. Please do not walk to the main square, as the roads are narrow and the traffic is fast. the host is exceptional, cleaning service comes every day, cleaning the pool every day. The house is decorated very nicely with all the essentials in the kitchen. The bathrooms are updated with marble floors and walls. This reminded me of home. We will love to visit back and stay for 2 weeks here. Thank you letting us stay at your house and making our stay memorable.

Wonderful
The property was great. We used Tommisio the whole time to drive us. Great to be picked up and dropped off at property. Also had a recommended chef come in for a cooking class, which was wonderful. The owners provided us with great information prior to our arrival.

Great Tuscan Stay for Family - Close To Florence
Overall, my family and I had a fantastic experience staying at Villa Le Fontaine. Marinella was great at recommending activities and many restaurants. Guido was also incredibly helpful with making sure we had groceries, and the entire cleaning team was wonderful. The room accommodations were also comfortable (everyone had their own bathroom) and we were very close to town! There were however a few things left out of the listing that we didn't find out until we arrived. For example, there are multiple properties under this management & we did have one person living above us. My family did not feel like it was a "private villa" as cars were in the driveway and whoever lived up above could see us at the pool if they were home. And there were last minute costs such as security deposit, tax per person and cleaning bill (all needed in euro) that we found out about 48 hours before arriving. These were not cheap costs so it would have been helpful if we had more notice. They did make the checkout process seamless, and deposit was paid back in full!

OMG it was fabulous
The picture don’t do the property justice. Alexandra was a delight to communicate with. The booklet she supplied before you check in was exactly what we needed. It provides a slew of information for the neighborhood...like a variety of stores, cab companies, chefs... I would not hesitate to rent from Alexandra again.

Wonderful
Beautiful villa with large doorways that overlook a classic Tuscan landscape, breathtaking views. All communications were easy and with prompt reply. This was my 50th birthday that I shared with 9 other adults and we were all comfortable with our accommodations although I will say the living room is a bit small but its ok as we spent most of our time outdoors. The location is perfect as its a quick taxi ride into Florence and a 6 min ride to grocery store. You could technically walk into Florence but as others have stated the road is not conducive to pedestrians. Taxis were easy to call and they spoke English. I highly recommend Hiring the driver Tomasso for airport transfers, Sienna & San Gimignano tour and Chianti wine tour which stopped at a quaint little trattoria for lunch in Pazzano where I had my favorite dish of the trip (spaghetti with fava beans, pecorino and mint). Also recommend Alessio's services. We did a drop off dinner with wine for our arrival night, a private dinner outside on my birthday and a pasta making class one afternoon. All the chefs were so lovely and the food was delicious. The kitchen is fully stocked and we ended up cooking dinner most nights because we were enjoying the villa and didn't want to leave to go into town for dinner although I wish we had gone at least once. The rooms were clean and well appointed, the pool was lovely and the grounds were spectacular. Having coffee and looking over the olive groves and seeing the other villas in the distance was a special sight that I will not forget. Highly recommended.

Peaceful countryside
The property is a beautiful tuscan villa in the hills southwest of Florence. It is an easy drive from the rental car, minus traversing Florence inner city, to the property. Galluzzo is a charming small town with cafe for cappuccino and bakery as well as a lovely clothing shop for men and women. The villa is clean and well cared for. The information presented by Olivia is extremely thorough and the Manuel of the house allows for quick reference of all restaurants, shops, groceries, driving directions, parkings, small town visits, activities and areas of interest. Communication was wonderful, needs attended to, questions answered quickly, and help provided as needed. The bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms were clean. The grounds and pool were meticulously maintained by a gardener daily. I cannot say enough about this property and would absolutely return.

Beautiful!
Beautiful. Full Accommodations. We spent 5 days and it was great! The only downside was the roads are narrow with no pedistrian walk so we needed to taxi (family of 10) a lot to the inner city (50 min walk).

First Rate Experience!
We are a family of 5 that travelled to Italy for holiday in January form Austin, TX. Working with Olga and her staff from the booking process through the final walk thru was easy and delightful. Upon booking, I received a 33 page detailed primer answering any and all questions about the property, things to do/see and recommendations on chefs, cooking classes, drivers etc. The information was better prepared and more helpful than any hotel website I have ever used. Upon check in we were greeted by Marinella who was instrumental in helping us round out our plan for the week. She was personable, enthusiastic and very efficient! Our family had a lovely and memorable time at this beautiful villa and very thankful that these folks are willing to share their little slice of paradise. We hope to return one day!

Wonderful place to stay
We enjoyed our stay at the villa. It was just as described on the website. We had 7 adults and everyone was comfortable. We had Chef Novella come one night to cook for us and the food was amazing. When we arrived we were met by Marinella and she was so helpful and we felt like we had known her forever. She can help with all your tour needs as well. We would recommend the villa to anyone wanting to be close to Florence and not have to stay in the city.

The perfect retreat!
Beautiful villa that felt like home away from home. Cozy, comfortable and tastefully appointed. Easy access to Florence City Center. I’d recommend downloading a local Taxi App as they can be a little challenging to secure. The team that supports the villa was lovely. Our trip was that much better because of our stay here.

Perfect vacation spot
Property was beautiful and even better than expected. Furnishings are lovely. Kitchen and bathrooms were first rate. Can’t really walk too many places because there are no sidewalks and it’s a winding road but easy if you have a car and easy to call taxis. We were 3 generations and it was perfect for us. Owners were lovely and very helpful. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful view and property - but car is a necessity
My family and I rented this home for a week this past July. House was beautiful and views were amazing. However, despite the claim that Florence was "walkable" we very quickly realized that a car was necessary. The house is located on a busy country road which we found to be treacherous to walk on. Also, the town in which it's located is not geared for tourists. Tuscany has an abundance of beautiful homes in beautiful towns with hospitable hosts willing to help you acclimate to this most beautiful area of Italy. Unfortunately, this one isn't one of them.

Lovely Villa in Heart of Tuscany
Our family of 5 -- 2 adults and three 'tweens -- loved staying in this beautiful, serene home located on the outskirts of Florence. The villa is beautifully decorated, immaculately maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. Garden is charming; flowers spill out of terra cotta urns, and the pool area is adjacent to a rambling orchard. We loved being able to while away the hottest hours of the day on the terrace with the kids in the pool. A highlight of our week in Tuscany was the cooking class we did with Chef Alessio Sedran at the villa. He and his assistant, Judith, were not only incredible food pros, but they were also so wonderful and patient with the kids. The meal we prepared together was outstanding, as was the "delivered meal" we arranged through Chef Alessio for our first night at the villa. Highly recommend this wonderful property!

Wonderful Time in Tuscany
We can not say enough about our visit. The villa and the gardens are just lovely and as shown in pictures. Olivia is a wonderful to work with and a very good communicator. Her recommendations for shopping, transportation, cleaning and other services were all very good. We hired Chef Alessio Sedran to cater our event and he and his team were professional, friendly and the food -- tasty!

The best of the best
We rent a Villa Le Fontanine house in September and October 2016 for 8 weeks. As our family is large we split our group into two parts. It was the first time we have renting a house outside Brazil and from this experience we decided to repeat it every year. The villa is beautiful, cozy and calm. Everything is clean and organized with great taste. A village has a huge outside area behind the house with an orchard full of fruits and a lovely vegetable kitchen garden. Every day the children had fun picking apples, plums, grapes, tomatoes, etc. Antonello is a very attentive person, he answered all my messages very fast and with a lot of patience. We hired a cooking chef, Lorenzo, to prepare our dinner every night because we were with two kids and we didn’t want to leave the house at night. Lorenzo did all the shopping for us without even having to think about the menu. Our only work was geve him the weekly money. I didn’t have any situation or something that we could complain or regret. On the contrary, this trip opened our minds to a new way of traveling. Renting a house you can really live the place you are. Joining in a day of locals and trying the their way of life is priceless. At first we rented a car to travel around, but very soon we realized that as we loved to much drinking wine and we would like to travel all together, we returned the car and we had the entire journey by train. In the morning we woke up and decided where to go. We called the taxi and in 5 minutes we were at the train station. It was very easy. Firenze has trains to everywhere at all times. We also did bike rides where the guide picked and left us at home. We knew beautiful bicycle routes and tasted local products like wine and olive oils. Anything I say to relate our experince will be insufficient to describe our wonderful moments and feelings at Villa Fontanine. Thank you Antonello for our lovely times. For sure we will never forget it.
