Tom and I met on the West Coast and always wanted a home near the beach, but were unable to pay LA prices. And hated LA traffic. When Tom took a job here in Savannah, we discovered Tybee Island and realized it was just 15 minutes from Downtown Savannah, and we loved the laid back Artsy, non-resort kind of feel. So, we looked for three years for the perfect piece of property - well, the perfect piece in our price range and in the location we wanted. We finally ended up buying a woman's back yard. We had the yard divided into a legal lot. The woman who sold us the lot, still lives behind our home. She purchased the lot our house sits on - 30 years ago for $1500.00! (She made a good investment!)
When we were looking for a bit of land to build on Tybee Island, we knew we might want to use the home as a vacation rental someday, and we wanted to be close to the beach, yet away from the noise. Close to the shops, yet away from the crowds. Within walking distance to all the eating places, and especially close to The Breakfast Club! This lot, seemed to have it all, Location, Location, Location, plus, it was the only lot we could find that didn't look into someone elses house - our lot looks onto a 60 foot tall live Oak tree. And OK, I confess, it was the only lot for sale on the whole darn street. So we bought it.
The large spacious upstairs. The pool. The double convection ovens. The Master Suite that has three seperate sections and a private deck. The pale yellow bamboo floors. The six burner cooktop with the pop up vent. The loft feel with tons of windows and natural light. The THREE large decks - two off each floor. The Air conditioned and insulated sleeping porch, that feels like a treehouse - on the top deck! Location, Location, Location.
Hi Marsha. We're all home safely after a wonderful week in your house. I want to thank you and Tom for all you did for us! You both went above and beyond any VRBO owners we have dealt with in the past. It was a perfect week, perfect house, perfect beach and great lifeguards. (They transported me to and from the beach in the lifeguard jeep.) I wrote a glowing review. If you didn't receive it let me know and I'll rewrite.

From the moment we booked this house - the service and response we received from the owner were top notch! I hosted a Bachelorette party here for 11 women starting 9/28 through 10/2. Marsha was more than willing to offer support on local hot spots, planning advice, leniency when she could on check in or check out times, etc. LOCATION of this home could NOT be beat - location to the beach, location to bars/restaurants, etc. It was a short easy drive into Savannah and/or other shopping options if the Island did not have what you needed. We had 11 women with us and my only comment would be that for everyone to have a real bed and be comfortable with their luggage, etc. in each room that in my opinion having more than 12 adults would start to feel a little cramped. The house layout was perfect, the pool and hot tub were much needed after a beach day and the house literally had everything we could possibly need to include a ping pong room and covered outdoors area(s) to sit and relax in as well.
I would book this house again no questions asked! Do yourself a favor and if staying on the island - just book it; you will not regret it.
I hosted my 40th Birthday here over the week of Memorial Day and we had the best time at the house! My friends and family were all able to be accomodated, and we had ages 2 - 73 at the house all week. The house is perfectly located near the beach and near restaurants on the island, two places for breakfast, one is where all the tourists go and one is no nonsense, delicious and where all the locals are. We rented bikes and could get everywhere we needed to go on those all week long. There are some nightclubs very close by, and the music carries, which was surprising, so just plan on being up a little later than you thought if you want the windows open.
I was worried about feeling like we were all on top of each other all week, but with this house being so large and on so many levels, even the most introverted among us could find a place to be alone for a little while. There are three decks - two of them covered and tons of space to hang out. The pool and hot tub out back are perfect for spending an afternoon after a morning at the beach (while kiddos were napping). This house could not have met our needs better. Marsha was super responsive and helped throughout our stay if things came up - the hot tub wasn't working at first when we got there. She had someone out to look at it immediately. She does drop by sometimes unexpectedly, which surprised us, but it was to check on us, which in the end I appreciate. Stay here! I will for sure be returning to Tybee (loved this island so so so much) and will have to stay at Marsha's place. We loved it so much!
Rented this home on Tybee for a long weekend as a family vacation. Marsha was great and accommodating! The house literally has everything! No need to pack highchairs, cribs, etc. Will definitely be back.
We spent a week at this home and it was perfect. It has all the amenities that are advertised, plus more. The location is great, just steps from shopping and restaurants. The home is absolutely beautiful, and all the outside living spaces are truly an added benefit. The owner is great to work with, she answers questions very quickly and was very helpful as we prepared for our trip.
Eight of us descended upon Tybee Island last month and was surprised to have had wonderful weather during our five day stay in Marsha's rental property. We were within walking distance to most restaurants, shops and the ocean blue. She left a guided booklet in the living room as to the "hot" spots which was helpful when no one knew anything about the area.
She gave us a personal tour of her home upon our arrival and acclimated us to her house. It was a beautiful piece of property in which to unwind while on the Island. What made it a bit more interesting was the film crew on the beach. I guess we may all see "BAYWATCH" the movie sometime next year as it hits the theaters. We were not needed as back-up actresses it appeared, but made for interesting viewing. The area is wonderful and everyone living there was laid back and just happy others were enjoying their lovely island. If you are looking for a perfect location to lay your head down for a few nights this is perfect for you.

We made use of all 22 sleeping areas when my very large family came to Tybee Island to celebrate my husband's graduation from medical school. It was so lovely to be all together and still have enough room for personal space! We would definitely stay here again. Our experience couldn't have gone better. Location, location, location!
