Sweet By and By... Your Escape to the Beauty of Smith Mountain Lake

This two-bedroom, two-bath cottage offers the ambiance of gentler times with all the comfort and luxury of the present! Sweet By and By is a quaint and peaceful home located on a very quiet street directly across from the entrance to the State Park. The setting is beautiful in the spring and summer, and even lovelier in the long, warm Virginia fall. Yet, the wooded lot, fireplace, and hot tub make Sweet By n’ By very private and cozy, and also the perfect place for a long winter weekend getaway. This home is truly wonderful during anytime of the year and the ideal place for one or two couples, or a small family.

The one-level cottage style home is located on the Craddock Creek channel of beautiful Smith Mountain Lake. The cove offers deep, wide water that is great for swimming, boating, or cruising around in its five-person pedal boat or canoe. The home has central air, a laundry room, and a kitchen that is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs. Appliances include a full-size refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, toaster, waffle maker, crock pot, and blender. The kitchen is also stocked with dishes, glasses, flatware, pots, pans, and cooking utensils. The hot tub and gas grill are located under the carport, so they remain functional even in the event of inclement weather.

In the living area, a 50” HDTV is connected to cable TV with an expansive HD programming package, a DVD player, as well as a Netflix subscription. High speed wireless internet and a wireless Printer/Scanner/Copier office machine afford the opportunity to extend a weekend stay and work remotely if needed. A gas fireplace is available (except during the summer) to take the chill out of the morning air and provide a cozy, romantic setting in the evenings. Additional 40" and 32” HDTVs and Blu-ray DVD players are available in the bedrooms, as well as Netflix service.

Looking out to the lake is a sunroom furnished with a rocking chair and lounge chairs, which are ideal for enjoying morning coffee or quiet evenings. It is a perfect way to appreciate those great lake views or to relax with a good book. The room opens to a lighted walkway. Off the top of the walkway is a fire pit equipped with a cooking grate and tools to enjoy campfire cooking. The walkway leads to a porch swing situated on a landing by the lake. The landing area can be warmed by a second fire pit. At the end of the walkway is a large dock with a sun deck. The dock’s amenities include: electrical outlets, lighting, a covered boat slip, a hoist that is designed to accommodate either one V-hull boat or up to two jet skis, and a floating dock that is outfitted for mooring boats. It is a great spot for swimming, fishing, waterskiing or just kicking back and enjoying the sun! After enjoying a day on water, spend a leisurely evening around the warmth of the fire pit or pitching horseshoes, if you are looking for some friendly competition.

An RV port (w/ water and electric) is available near the entrance of the property. The property is also conveniently located near Mariners Landing Golf Course and would be ideal for a foursome interested in a golf weekend. The 5th hole at Mariners Landing, a par 3 over water, can be seen directly across the cove from the property.

Comforters, blankets, pillows and mattress covers are provided; however, sheets, pillow cases, and bath towels are not provided. Rather, the cleaning fee has been set at a modest rate to account for this and information for local linens services will be provided. This allows each guest to choose the convenience and price point they prefer.

The house is prepared with a starter supply of paper products and trash bags, but not an unlimited supply. The house is also stocked with dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher pods, kitchen towels, and dish sponges.

Included in the nightly rate are administrative fees covering a Registration Fee and a Damage Waiver Fee. The Damage Waiver Fee provides $1,000 in accidental damage protection.

Dog are welcome with a $30/night pet fee. If applicable, to make the disclosure and ensure the fee is included in your reservation, please click on the Travelers option to expand the screen and check the box indicating you will be traveling with pets.

There are discounts for weekly stays during the summer that are built into my pricing which are not reflected in the nightly rates shown on the calendar. You will see the discounts after entering your dates into the "Total Pricing/Availability" tool.
