To make it easier, we provide wagons and backpack beach chairs, and many guests also rent bikes, with parking available right at the access. Beautiful, Relaxing Location

Go your own Wave has everything you need to have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. The home, pool, and hot tub are well maintained with everything you need to enjoy your stay as well as enjoying days on the beach. The location is quiet and the public access to the beach is a short walk.communication with the owner was fantastic from booking to checkout. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!

Great place/great location

The place was plenty big to accommodate our group and had a beautiful deck and screened in porch that I enjoyed. The pool was excellent and the proximity to the beach was exactly as listed. It was very close to the public beach access and a short walk. We had a wonderful time on our first trip to Corolla in the Outer Banks. Megan was very easy to communicate with via the Vrbo app.

Professional, Clean, would definitely come back!

This house was a great find for our friend group. Multiple floors, all with attached bathrooms so everyone could have their own space. A great spot if you have babies as they are equip with a good amount of baby related items. The best pool closet, we recommend!

Beautiful beach Oasis

This property is prettier than the pictures show. There was so much space for everyone in our party. The pool was perfectly warmed for our chilly April visit. The kitchen was out of this world full of everything you would need for cooking, the aqua back splash was so pretty. Megan checked in and was available if needed

Exactly what we needed

Go Your Own Wave was a fantastic property for our two families. We had more than enough space and everything was exactly as shown in pictures and described. All our questions were answered in less than 24 hours, everything was in working order which made our trip very relaxing! We would love to come back again next year.

Wonderful week

We had a relaxing and fun time at this house. There are so many small conveniences around every corner, so it feels like home away from home. The location was a short walk to the beach and close to shops and restaurants. The heated pool and hot tub were so nice, and the amount of pool floats and kids toys made it so enjoyable. The very best part was not having to bring a crib, high chair, baby monitor, outlet covers, etc because the owner thought of everything. We had such a nice time and would love to go back again.

Perfect family OBX vacation

House was clean and in good repair. SO many extras provided. Kitchen is very well stocked and bedrooms are spacious and so comfortable. Beautiful decks with great safe access for small children and dog. Pool area was a great hit and also had safe gates for young ones. Excellent family home rental for young ones and a pet. Easy beach access, beautiful neighborhood with a great beach! Would stay again in a heartbeat with my family! Owners are amazing and take great care of their beachhouse.

Great Thanksgiving Memories

We loved our latest stay at Go Your Own Wave! The host, Megan, was great to work with and made us feel as though this was our home away from home. The house is well-maintained and stocked with everything we needed to enjoy our Thanksgiving. We noticed many upgrades since our last visit two years ago. Our favorite was the pool heater! The water was so warm, and the kids and adults had hours of fun splashing around. We also loved that it was just a short drive to the 4x4 beaches, so we could air down and see the wild horses. Many happy memories made. We look forward to returning!

Perfection!

The communication with the property owner was fantastic, never had any issues and my questions were always answered promptly. As far as the house goesโ€ฆ it looks exactly as listed! Which in and of itself itโ€™s a great thing. Itโ€™s in the perfect location, a few minutes walk to the beach and around the corner from multiple grocers and little shops. This home has everything you need (coming from a family that traveled with an infant) to ensure you can pack just a little bit lighter! I highly recommend this stay to anyone whose looking and I canโ€™t wait to come back!!

Wonderful!!!!!

Beautifully decorated home for a relaxing family vacation. There were a dozen of us. We had plenty of room for sleeping, eating, and gathering. The home is supplied with EVERYTHING you would need or want. The owners are very thoughtful and very communicative which was appreciated. We prepared 3 meals daily and were grateful for a kitchen very well stocked. The boardwalk for the beach access is visible from the front yard. The pool water temperature was perfect making the pool area very enjoyable. We would recommend Go Your Own Wave to all :)

Great property close to the beach

The house was wonderful. We were impressed with how clean it was on arrival. The owner was very helpful and nice. They seem to have done a lot to update the home, and the pictures don't really do it justice to how nice it is. My kids LOVED going in the color changing hot tub each night. The neighborhood and proximity to the beach were outstanding. We loved all the decks. We could feel the stress melt away as we sat out there and enjoyed the view and peacefulness of sunrise and sunset. This was our first time vacationing in OBX and this experience convinced us to return in the future. Overall and easy and fun New Year celebration!

Perfect for family of all ages

We were all impressed with the details throughout the home. From the very well stocked kitchen to the sound machine in the bedrooms to the night lights in the bathrooms. It met all our needs and exceeded our needs with regards to making sure the home was safe for the littlest family members. They had outlet covers, a crib, two high chairs which got used and also gates for the stairs! Highly impressed. Saving the best for last - our host told us she would let us know if we could access the house earlier and she ACTUALLY DID let us know! Great home Megan!

BEDBUGS!!!!!!!

My family and I traveled 12hrs for our Thanksgiving celebration just to be greeted with BEDBUGS! After the discovery the owner didnโ€™t contact us back for several hours and had Zero empathy when told about the situation. She kicked us out of the property stating she wanted pest control to come. Megan gave us 2hrs to get off her property or she was going to call the police. VRBO was very nice and gave my family and I 3 hotel rooms. Megan never even apologized! DO NOT STAY IN THIS PROPERTY THE WHOLE BOTTOM LEVEL IS INFESTED!!!!!!

We took this allegation seriously and had two inspections immediately performed. Neither pest control nor a property maintenance company found evidence of bedbugs or any other infestation whatsoever. Despite our requests, we also received zero evidence to support this complaint. Out of an abundance of caution and to reassure future guests, we had pest control apply a broad-spectrum treatment to supplement our routine preventive services. As hosts we pride ourselves in providing our guests exceptional service and a comfortable stay. A review of this nature is certainly disheartening, but we hope that future guests will read our prior 40+ reviews as an accurate representation of the quality of our property and hosting style.

A Gem in Corolla

Our family was lucky enough to spend two wonderful weeks at Go Your Own Wave! What a marvelous find! From the moment we arrived, the house was so welcoming! We were greeted with a fun gift bag of goodies and a very generous free dozen bagels from Lighthouse Bagels for each week we stayed! How yummy! Megan did a wonderful job communicating with our family and frequently checked in to see if there was anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable. The house was so well stocked with everything imaginable! Megan did not miss anything! Our family stayed during an extremely hot week in June and thoroughly enjoyed the pool when it was too hot to venture onto the beach. Our family enjoyed morning and evening strolls on the beach and the distance to get to the beach was just amazing! We even were able to see a sea turtle's nest one evening. It was a very special two weeks, and we could not have asked for a better place to spend our vacation. When you book Go Your Own Wave, you will be treated to a wonderful oasis! We loved the views from the decks and the ample seating throughout the house. The beds were extremely comfy and everyone enjoyed their stay!! Thank you so much!! We will be back!!

Vacation

House was dirty. Dog hair everywhere, trash filled when we got there as well as recycling. found broken glass on floor in living room. bubblegum stuck to headboard. Lots of clothing tag trash through out house. No shades in living room. Kitchen pans were old and hard to cook with. no toaster just toaster oven. Some of our party arrived at 3 oโ€™clock, an hour early. Pulled into the driveway and the cleaning crew pulled in behind them. they cleaned whole house in one hour. Bedroom tvs had child hand smears all over them. Beds have very hard mattresses. definitely will not be coming back to this house.

Buyer beware - and worms all over the first floor

We have done same trip w/VRBO & other sites. I have the highest ratings & treat rentals like my own. The Outer Banks NC is known for larger houses and people travel with groups. This owner has a requirement very outside of the norm and it is NOT clearly called out in the VRBO listing. Buried in a 10 page contract it states family by blood or marriage only. The owner watches the cameras very closely - creepy. You can't even have another family over for lunch. I put 10 adults and 4 kids in my request but didn't realize friends weren't allowed, only my husband and I are drinking age so no parties or noise complaints. We had to get a lawyer engaged and rent a 2nd house last minute while down on vacation. It was my mistake for not noticing this requirement in the contract but I don't normally feel I need legal review for a 1 week rental. I was honest and said there were friends, offered higher security deposit, offered to add a new person to the lease, offered to move most to another location, owner clearly wanted the house back for themselves this week and would not work with us at all. VRBO tried calling her to explain contract is unexpected and the type of renter I am, she was unwilling to cooperate. Her property mgmt co were shocked when asked to come inspect and saw our calm group. If planning to bring anyone who isn't officially your family (even 1 person) RENT A DIFFERENT HOUSE!!! Also tons of worms on 1st floor. Many others to pick from!
