Why stay in the same old cabin or condo when you can stay in our beautiful, clean and unique A-Frame surrounded by trees and abundant with wildlife.
The location of this home is perfect for your Estes vacation. It is located in a very quiet collection of a few cabins just a few minutes hike into Rocky Mountain National Park or the the YMCA property and a 1.5 mile drive to Downtown or the Beaver Meadows entrance into RMNP . You can also walk to the very popular Dunraven Italian Restaurant (the one off Hwy 66).
You will have a marvelous Rocky Mountain vacation in this clean, quiet, fully appointed vacation home. We have two bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a balcony where you can hear the Big Thompson River through the trees. The second bedroom has a full size bed. Downstairs is tastefully decorated with newer furniture with a pull-out queen and pull-out twin bed. Downstairs is great for kids to sleep in while the grown-ups sleep quietly upstairs.
We have a brand new remodeled full kitchen w/ gas stove, dishwasher and microwave. We also have a newer full sized washer and dryer too.
You can relax and read a book by the wood-burning stove, watch DVD's on the TV (we have a large selection of DVD's stocked), play classic Atari video games or sit on the front or back porches and watch the elk, deer, bears, foxes, coyotes, wild turkeys, rabbits, hummingbirds etc. that are frequently seen on the property.
If you want to hike, this is the location for you. You can hike into Rocky Mountain National Park along the picturesque boulder strewn Big Thompson River and be in the Moraine Park area (prime fishing and elk viewing area) in about 15 minutes. You can also hike along Glacier Creek for more fishing and beautiful trails. The YMCA has numerous trails where mountain biking is allowed. We are close to quite a few restaurants, shopping, horseback riding, fishing, miniature golf and all that Estes has to offer on Highway 66 (Tunnel Rd) into downtown Estes.

Why Andrea or Stephen Velasco chose Estes Park
We fell in love with this house the moment we saw it. We have always loved Estes Park, and wanted our own little piece of it to enjoy. We love being able to easily hike into the park. The wildlife in the immediate area is abundant. The balcony off the bedroom is fantastic for sitting outside with a cup of coffee listening to the roar of the water nearby. We have always loved the unique look of an A-Frame. It's like owning a Harley or an Airstream. Why have a home like everyone else!
What makes this Chalet unique
Walk into the RMNP Morraine Park area. Walk to the best restaurant in Estes Park - The Dunraven. Enjoy local wildlife.

Perfect Honeymoon Stay
This was the perfect location for our honeymoon. We loved the views and wildlife. It is packed away just enough for privacy but not to far from town. This is the ideal location to disconnect from a busy life and just get away. We can't wait to come back.
So glad our home was perfect for your honeymoon. We would love to have you back.
We stayed two nights at this adorable hidden A frame. There were five of us and it was perfect. Everything we needed was there for us and to get into town was easy as well. The best was that the entrance into the Rocky Mountain National Park was right down the road and along with that came plenty of animal sightings. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Andrea and Stephen!!
Thank you for the great review. We would love to have you back!
Nice Location - Very Clean
The A-Frame is in a very convenient location for accessing both the National Park (Beaver Meadows Entrance) and Estes Park for restaurants or shopping. You can be at each within 5 minutes or so. The house was very clean and everything that we needed was provided. There seemed to be adequate pots/dishes although we didn't cook any. The beds were comfortable and there were adequate linens and extra blankets provided. Very little noise at all other than some road noise from the main road but it was quiet at night so we slept very well.
Be aware that the spiral staircase is a little tricky and in my opinion not good for large or very tall people. I am 5'9 and had to duck my head each time to get downstairs. The bathroom is downstairs so you will have to navigate those stairs at night if you need to get to it. The shower is also a little low (for me) so someone who is really tall may have an issue with that. There are no real doors on the 2 bedrooms, there are wicker like accordion doors (somewhat see through) so not a lot of privacy in them if that is what you need. The property does have several houses within sight and the closest one seemed to be closed up and in disrepair with no trespassing/keep out signs on it. The view of the mountains from the balcony or front deck was somewhat ruined by a commercial type trailer that was parked directly in view the whole time so if you are looking for privacy or pristine mountain views this may not be the best choice for you.
The property was good for our needs as we were out in the park during the day. There is a tv but no service provided and no internet (as stated) but there were quite a few DVD's to watch and books and board games there for entertainment. We did have cell service with both Verizon and AT&T although the signal was a little weak at times. We saw elk on the road each morning on the way to the main road to the park but nothing at the property itself during the time we were there. The road/driveway may be challenging for a very large SUV or Truck as it is not very wide.
Overall the property was good and met our needs well and I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the property.
Great base camp for all of Estes Park
We really enjoyed the cabin and it was great for getting around Estes Park. It was especially useful being close to the YMCA and RMNP.
I would have preferred some form of wifi as the data connection was intermittent at best, but other than that it was a good place.
My kids loved watching Spy Kids! :)
Hello, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. We purposely don't have wifi as we want to keep our house as a place of disconnect from technology and a place to connect with nature. I know in this day and age everyone wants wifi and we are holding out as long as we can :) - Andrea
Nice place to stay away from the busy town of Estes
The town and RMNP were really busy while we visited. Getting through town and going anywhere in the park was very challenging. We were very glad to have our little A-frame out of the way of the majority of the crowds of people. The cabin was well-equipped and cared for, provided a comfortable place to eat and sleep, and we greatly enjoyed the wood stove on cool evenings and mornings. We will definitely consider staying here again and will recommend to others. Thank you!
Great location, good price
If your primary reason for staying in Estes is to visit RMNP, than it would be hard to find a better location. Because it is situated just to the west of Estes Park, you will not need to fight through the traffic to get to RMNP. It is also very convenient to the Country Market (small grocery store and deli), gas, and restaurants and activities. The cabin does have several close neighbors, and the property itself is quite small. We made friends with a neighbor who welcomed us to walk up his property more on the side of the mountain - you would want to be sure to have permission first. Cowpoke Corral is literally down the road and my daughter and I had a fun one-hour horse back ride there. The house was extremely clean. The upstairs front bedroom has a comfortable queen mattress - firm, which I like. The other queen bed was pretty squishy/springy, which did not bother our 6yo daughter, but may not be right for some. Our 9yo son slept on the pull-out love seat. He was perfectly happy there, but it would not be suitable for most adults. Our children appreciated having games available in the closet. They also enjoyed seeing an elk and several mule dear, in addition to a mama bear and her cubs (don't leave food in your car, and keep your car LOCKED at ALL times - we learned the hard way). The kitchen is equipped with basics (but don't expect condiments, spices, and the like - we did find sugar and oil). The coffee pot is small, so we found that we had to make a few pots every day. The bathroom is spacious, although the shower head was quite low, which posed a challenge for my 6'5'' husband. The bathroom would benefit from a small shelf above the sink - there is nowhere to place toiletries except on the clothes dryer, which is also located in the bathroom. The bathroom would also benefit from towel hooks - it appears there used to be one on the back of the door. As it stands, we had to drape our towels over doors, etc.
It would be handy if the owners/property manager would put a telephone book in the house.
The spiral staircase was fun for the kids, perfectly manageable for me, less great for the tall husband.
Overall, the price for a very expensive area like Estes Park seemed very fair - a good value.
Thank you for your feedback and for choosing our property for your Estes vacation. We will look into your shelf suggestion. There should be a phone book or two in the home but we will replace if they are no longer there. Thanks again!
