Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)
Come and enjoy this cozy cottage in the land of dolphins and pelicans! Enjoy the sounds of gentle breezes blowing in the palm trees outside your window, and the surf rolling up on the beach. You'll love the natural beauty of the still-unspoiled area of North Florida. You can walk along a peaceful, uncrowded beach and just relax, or pick one of the many activities nearby: para sailing, deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, boating, cycling, bird-watching, hiking or golf.
Historic St. Augustine is only two miles away, Jacksonville 45 minutes away, and Orlando is a two-hour drive.
This quaint, historic cottage was part of a group of houses built in the 1930's in this area of Vilano Beach. Originally a fishing village, the area was constructed by an aviator named Reiss, a colleague of Charles Lindbergh and founder of the St. Augustine airport. Used by military families during WWII (a German spy occupied one of these cottages), it later became a motel called the Pagoda.

Why Owner chose Vilano Beach
The first time we traveled to St. Augustine and visited friends who had a cottage on Vilano Beach, we fell in love with the area. It was so different from other places in Florida in that it was less developed and more relaxing to us. The beaches are so beautiful and Vilano is not crowded. There is so much closeby - the historic parts of St. Augustine, which maintains its original architectural style; Guana State Park, where there are many trails for easy hiking; a gorgeous scenic drive up A1A North; and the beach is just 100 yards from our door.

good, inexpensive place to stay
Clean and comfortable. Outside and yard needs a lot of work.
Cozy, well appointed cottage close to everything
We loved our stay in this cottage. Even though the weather was awful, we felt safe and warm in this little place. Everything that we could have needed/wanted was provided in an appropriate manner. It was only the two of us but it didn’t feel too big at all, and I could also see how it could easily work for 4 people. The beach was a short walk and just what we were hoping for. Great for shell hunting, walking, or just sitting. The grocery store is a 1/2 block away so we got some breakfast and snack provisions. 5 mins to Old St. Augustine and 10 to St. Augustine Beach. Excellent location.
This place was perfect for us. The space was useful and décor was fun and interesting. We all enjoyed the outdoor spaces the most, and the short walk to the beach. AC worked great, we didn't even turn the second one on in the side bedroom. We were able to settle in quickly and felt like island residents for a couple nights (not long enough)! Thank you, thank you!
Perfect place. Traveled at the last minute for some surf fishing for a friends birthday and the cottage was perfect for what we needed. Great location and a Very short walk to the beach. We will definite back. The outside decks are great to hang out on and enjoy the breeze after a nice day at the beach.
The property is amazing!! When booking, the owner is very informative and quick to respond. The property is fenced in so it has great privacy. We loved the hammocks and the grill!! It has great air condition the whole place got cold! The kitchen is stocked with utensils, microwave, oven and fridge! It's a short walk from publix for groceries and the beach! We love how the cottage is on a island so you have the relaxing laid back feel of the beach yet if you travel right over the bridge about six minutes is down town st Augustine with a ton of sight seeing! We can't wait to plan our next trip here!!
Starting the New Year right!
I booked this property to get away for a few days with my fiancé for the New Year. The owner was amazing with a speedy response when I first inquired. She ensured I had several ways of contacting her before, during and after.
The property itself was very comfortable inside for us. As others have stated before, it's charm is the fact that it was built in the 1930's. You can see there have been some updates. The property was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The outside of the property does need some TLC, but aside from that, I have nothing negative to say.
Highly recommend to rent here. We have some great memories to cherish :)
