Historic 19th century building with modern loft living ... vaulted ceiling, sky-lights, spiral staircase, roof-top deck. Large open-space living, dining, and kitchen space with two bedrooms, a full bath, and a 1/2 bath on the second floor, and one bedroom (sleeps 4) on the 3rd floor. Views of Stonington Harbor and Fishers Island, NY from 2 of the bedrooms. 3 short block walk to the Harbor, Small Boat Ass'n launch area (launch your kayaks at this free public launch space), children's playground, & Fishing Docks. Shopping and restaurants on Water Street, Public Library (1 block), Old Lighthouse Museum & DuBois Beach at the end of the Point (approx. 12 blocks - 'The Borough' is a peninsula).

Just ten minutes from the Mystic drawbridge lies Stonington Borough, called “the most beautiful seaside village in New England.” Because the Borough is a narrow, mile-long peninsula pointing into Fisher’s Island Sound and Little Narragansett Bay, nothing is more than a short walk from your car or boat. From “The Point” you can view three states--CT, RI, & NY-- or see the last remaining commercial fleet in the state bring lobster and famous scallops and flounder to the Town Dock. The Borough is a major yachting center with all the amenities and our beautiful harbor boasts boats of all types and sizes. From The Borough, you can visit Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Watch Hill RI, the RI beaches, and either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Casinos .... all with only a 10 to 30 minute drive.

perfect location and very spacious

6 adults and 2 children stayed in this apartment for three nights. We were in town for several wedding events. The location could not have been better! And the apartment was very spacious. We had plenty of room! The apartment was very clean and ready for us. The deck was a very nice spot. The owner made our stay very easy and enjoyable. She was very helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better stay!

Wonderful Vacation Rental!!!!

I spent a week in Carolyn's apartment with my 10 lb dog and had visits from various friends and family throughout the week. The apartment was charming and clean. Carolyn was very pleasant and helpful. I really can't say enough about this wonderful experience. The location was perfect: close to restaurants, shops, beaches and museums. I completely fell in love with the Boro and did not want to leave. I will definitely be back!

The Perfect Spot to Connect with Family

My two adult children (+ one fiance) and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend. Our host greeted us warmly and was very helpful with directions, too! It was the perfect spot to re-connect with my adult children who live on the East Coast. The apartment is clean, spacious and well located. Plenty of seating to watch TV and the kitchen was well stocked for when we wanted to cook (note the coffee shop is across the street!). We just loved the town--cute restaurants within walking distance, farmer's market on the weekends and just very picturesque. This was my first experience with VRBO. After such a positive experience, I look forward to more vacation rentals by owner!

Great place in a great location

My family of four, plus our dog, had a great week in the Borough. The apartment is incredibly convenient to many activities, including walking distance to the beach, restaurants, a local brewery, and even lobster fresh off the boat. Heck, I literally could have crawled to a coffee shop. Hop in the car, and it's a short drive to everything in Mystic.

The apartment is very comfortable. It's not a rundown beach house. Although it's on the main street in the borough, we never heard a peep through any of the walls and the street quieted down easily at night. While doable for a family with small children, it was great with our tweens, who were thrilled to walk to the nearby general store and get candy on their own. I think we still have jolly ranchers left over. The owner was available (but not intrusive) and reasonably accommodating.

We're back!

This is our second stay here. Since our goal is to retire to the Boro we couldn't ask for more. Carolyn';s apartment is why you come to the Boro. While it is usually just my husband and myself here we have accomodated any and all of our 5 children and eight grandchildren for visits. We love it. Just walk out your door and wander the Boro, eat lunch or dinner, sightsee, shop, go to the library, go to the beach. You can take a walk 24 hours a day if you choose. It is safe, affordable, fun and our home away from home. We are thinking of trying a winter stay this year! Paula and Hal Oberg

Look before you leap!

This apartment was in need of an inside & outside paint job.

The floors also needed refinishing.

A professional interior designer is needed to redo/update this apartment.

The future professional designer will need to edit the contents of the apartment.

Manager of the "Heart of the Boro" rental was not helpful.

Staying at the apartment was not a positive experience.

It was a disappointment.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry they didn't enjoy staying in my apartment, but I feel that their criticism is due to me not being pleased with the “re-decorating” this renter (who happens to be a “professional designer”) did while she was staying in my apartment. When the cleaning gals went to prepare for a short turn over to a new guest, many things appeared to be “missing”. As it turned out, decorative items were shoved into cupboards, dried flower arrangements put into corners under tables (+ damaged), & many things were just moved around. It took extra time to prepare the apartment for the next renters, causing a delay in their checking in, which was not fair to them. I do agree that the exterior is in need of a paint job & that’s planned for next spring. As for the interior, I was in the process of painting when this tenant stayed at the apartment. She was bothered by (& requested to remove) some paper covering a small wooden beam near the ceiling … because it was not pleasing to her eye. At least she asked me & respected my wish to not to remove it, so the painting process could be continued as soon as the apt. was unrented. The floors are not perfect, but they are not that bad either. I keep them waxed. If I were to refinish the floors, I would not allow dogs to stay in the apartment. This tenant had requested to bring their dog, & I said yes, even waiving the Pet Fee. They didn’t bring their dog after all, & then she asked me for a refund of the Pet Fee… the one they had not been charged. Mid week, they asked how much I would deduct if they left a day earlier. According to the R.A., there are no refunds for cancellation or change after 2 weeks before arrival date. But, I did offer to give them a $100.00 reduction. They decided to stay the last night. When we negotiated the original rental details, they asked for a late check out. I told her “no” because of the 3pm check-in & we needed time for cleaning. So she asked if they could leave their food in the refrigerator for an extra hour or so. I agreed, figuring the cleaning gals could do the refrig. a little later … not a big deal. I feel that I was very helpful & accommodating to these tenants in every way, except for allowing her to climb on a ladder to take down the paper from the beam. I am sorry that it spoiled their vacation. For future … look at the pictures on the web site. If you don’t like the interior design, rent a different place.
