About the host
Hosted by Todd Christensen
I was raised in Southwest Michigan and grew up on Lake Cora, located just 20 minutes from the "Other West Coast" of Michigan. Coined, "The Other Great Lake." I grew up with an appreciation for nature, the land and with a respect of Mother Earth. I spent my career pursuing dual paths in both the US Army reserve and as a Police Officer for the City of Kalamazoo. Retiring from both careers by 2012 and 2014 respectively I now live in wonderful Palm Springs.
I've been visiting SoCal since 2003, when I first experienced Palm Springs. I FELL IN LOVE with PS right away. The blue skies, fresh air, mountain views and desert, coupled with the vibrant "village feel" of Palm Springs made me feel welcome and right at home.
For fun, I'm a published Author and I enjoy bartending, collecting rocks, identifying birds and recently took up surfing.

Why they chose this property
When I walked in the door the very first time and saw the view of the mountains and then discovered the detail in the complete remodel of this fully furnished and decorated to the nine's condo I fell in love! My first impression though were the friendly neighbors I met as I walked along the pool taking in the views. I immediately felt welcomed and the other residents were excited for me too. I made an offer the very first day and within exactly one month I took ownership of unit 1 and a dream came true. I was a real "Snow Bird!"
What makes this property unique
There's always something to do here in the Coachella Valley. From total relaxation to the exciting downtown shops, restaurants, night clubs, supper clubs, upscale resorts and spa's, casinos and the HUGE music festivals such as Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival, White Party Palm Springs, Club Skirts Dina Shore Weekend, and so much more!
Need an escape from the heat? In just under two hours you can be lounging on Newport Beach and explore the coast.
Another great adventure is Idyllwild, CA. See those mountains with HUGE pine trees on the top ridge? It's just an hour drive and you can be in the cool weather or the snow! Even quicker is the Palm Springs Tramway on the Northside of town off Highway 111. Joshua Tree National Forrest is only 40 minutes away and along the route you get to enjoy Yucca Valley and a quick detour takes you to Pioneer Town where some of America's classic western television shows were filmed on what is still an active movie set. I enjoy an annual trip to Landers, CA just North of Joshua Tree (The desert drive is truly a unique experience) and you must visit the Integratron for some great "Alien" history and you may even have an out of body experience inside the structure as you enjoy a sound bath. Check it out!! Hiking, Golf, Tennis, Exploring to Museums and an amazing Air Zoo museum right here in Palm Springs. Just two blocks way is the Moorten Botanical Gardens.
There's so much to see and do. For me, I most enjoy just lounging at the pool and exploring a new hike in an area I've never been. Download the All-Trails app on your smart phone and a whole new world will open up for you. If you're a Veteran show you VA I.D. Card or military I.D. at both Indian Canyons and Tahquitz Canyon entry points for free access and of course Joshua Tree is a National park with free access to military veterans.
