Highly rated, well equipped Mountain cabin retreat is tucked between Gunnison and Montrose, amidst the towering trees and beauty of the San Juan Mountains, Uncompahgre National Forest and Gunnison Basin in the Arrowhead community. Perched at a cozy elevation of 9,500 feet, you will experience the authentic charm and simplicity of nature as you unwind by the crackling fire while savoring the peace and serenity that surrounds you. Whether you yearn for quiet contemplation or thrilling outdoor adventures, this cabin will beckon you to rediscover the great outdoors. Enjoy two private lakes that do not require a fishing license to fish. Hunters and dirt bikers, we are in GMU 66 and COBDR 3.
Soak in the fresh mountain air and wildlife on the roomy deck, accessible with stairs or convenient ramp for guests needing mobility assistance. Our cabin offers comfort for up to 8 guests, with two bedrooms on the main floor, featuring a queen and king bed, along with a bathroom. There is also a large loft area with a queen and a full bed upstairs and bathroom with a toilet and sink. Warm up by the wood-burning stove as you gather in the inviting living space, stocked with indoor and outdoor games. Whip up meals in the fully equipped kitchen, stay connected with complimentary WiFi for working while you play, and unwind with your favorite shows on the Smart TV or enjoy a movie night with the DVD player. Whether you seek relaxation or adventure or are here to fish, hunt, snowmobile, x-country ski, snowshoe, ride the COBDR trails, our cabin offers the perfect home base for your memorable mountain getaway.
Things to know: We are not ADA compliant. We have taken steps to accommodate a wheelchair traveler and recommend there is also a companion for assistance. This cabin has a ramp Spring-Summer and larger bathroom. There are also limitations for accessibility and I am happy to answer specific questions before you make your reservation. The cabin is about 1 mile off Alpine Plateau Road and 6.5 miles off Highway 50.
Spring/Summer and early Fall: Guests enjoy fishing at private mountain ponds, abundant scenery with nearby COBDR trails, ATV routes, hiking, and biking trails. Since the lakes are private property you will not need a Colorado fishing license. Guests will also enjoy wildlife viewing and stargazing next to the fire pit or on the large deck.
On Saturdays during the Summer there is live music at the restaurant which also offers great food. Hours fluctuate depending on time of year.
Winter: Winter is very special at Arrowhead as the internal community roads close to vehicles once there’s adequate snow. This is typically 12/1 - 4/15 and depends on the weather. Internal cabin community roads are open only to snow machines, x-country skis, snowshoes and foot travel. There is transportation services available in the community that guests can independently arrange. When the internal community roads close, guests will park in the Winter parking lot and use a service or your snowmobile, skis or snowshoes to scoot to the cabin. The cabin is about 1 mile (approx. 30 minutes to snowshoe) from the winter parking lot. The internal roads and winter parking lot are typically groomed but often covered with fresh powder snow. We recommend at least AWD for travel in winter from Highway 50 to the winter parking lot due to snowy conditions.

The Mountains are our Happy Place!
Why they chose this property
We love the Arrowhead community as each cabin is on it's own acre of mountain bliss. There is a volunteer fire department, restaurant, many trails and breathtaking scenery. It is also 1 hour from Montrose or Gunnison and central to everything outdoors Colorado offers. The cabin works (with some assistance) for a family member that is in a wheelchair.
What makes this property unique
We have strived to keep the cabin simple yet cozy. While we want all the comforts of home we also recognize that being in the mountains has its own joy that comes from experiencing something new and different from home. We know that some guests will need to work while on vacation and have provided wifi. If you want us to turn it off for your stay just let us know!
