Mountain Getaway Cabin

Enjoy your stay at this private mountain cabin located in the Arrowhead community off Hwy 50. This cabin is located in close proximity to national forest land. Activities in this area include: hiking, hunting, trout fishing, wildlife viewing, skiing, snowmobiling, ATV/UTV riding, and many more... Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have. The cabin is well stocked with linens/towels/kitchen supplies. There is a full sized bed in each of the 2 downstairs bedrooms, and the loft area houses one king, one queen, and two twin beds. A gas grill is located on the porch. The kitchen is equipped with stove/oven, mixer,blender, coffee maker, garbage disposal, and microwave. The living room has Dish network TV, DVD player, CD player, board games, and a few dvd's. There is a fire pit located outside with plenty of wood for burning. Awesome cabin

Great location, loved the cabin, enjoyed UTV riding in the forest. The Arrowhead Lodge had really good food and the people there were friendly. Overall it was a really good stay!Great place to stay! Thank you!

Always a great stay!

We always have the most fun staying here.Games, campfires, walking the roads, and going to the lakes. This section of colorado is beautiful and peaceful. This year wild strawberrys and old mans beard was everywhere. Two years ago the dragon flies at the lake were beautiful taking flight. The area the cabin is in is peace. Definitely a privilege to stay at this cabin with my family.

Great cabin in the woods

Great cabin with lots of room. Great area for trail ridding and seeing nature. Lots of Elk, Deer and other game. Roads to the cabin need work and Hwy 50 is still under construction and will delay your travel. The Lodge is a great place to eat and talk with the local’s . Over all rating 4.5. When roads are fixed 5 stars for sure.

Mountain Gate Cabin

This was a great place. They had everything you needed for your stay and then some. The cabin was perfect for what we needed. There was plenty of room and it was nice having the dish satellite t.v. There were board games and puzzles to play. There is forest all around the cabin that makes for a very scenic site, and it is very quiet. Plenty of wildlife around. Deer and chipmunks walking around the property. Driving to and from the cabin to go to blue mesa reservoir we saw more deer, coyotes, yellow bellied marmots and even a beer. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to other people, we would rate this place 10/10

Adult occupant

Good place to stay. Way off beaten path if your looking for solitude. There is a 7 mile dirt road you must travel but it is well maintained. There were plenty of extra goods in the house to use. One thing to note and this didn’t affect the house or our stay. Hwy 50 is closed certain times of the day and this can make travel very difficult if you are coming from Gunnison. Check COTRIP.ORG and this will tell you status of HWY 50. The house was good just plan your trip with this road construction in mind.

Arrowhead resort area

We enjoyed the space and accommodations this cabin provided. We were not aware of the lack of WiFi before arriving even tho we specifically asked for information about it. We had plans to visit Black Canyon and hike around this area, making plans based on distance/weather while at the cabin but were unable to access any information on our phones which left us very frustrated. No heads up about road construction either which left us traveling on a treacherous back winding dirt road that really needed a sport utility vehicle to maneuver. It was very scary!

Base camp for exploring and fly fishing

The cabin was more than I needed. I travel with my cocker spaniel so this was very spacious. The weather was excellent. Lows of 43 in mid July compared to my hill country Texas home with it still being 90 at 9 pm. Take the Alpine Plateau road all the was from 50 south to 149 and Lake City. Beautiful. The cabin is in a very nice neighborhood with an interesting layout of 1 acre circles. The Arrowhead lodge is very nice the food there was great and the people were very friendly. I look forward to coming back. I was disappointed with Colorado DOT. Last year 50 was difficult to travel between Montrose and Gunnison due to construction. This year it was worse because they closed the bridge over Blue Masa basically completely. The day I tried to make the trip CDOT even closed the detour.

Great vacation stay!

My husband and I and our three dogs enjoyed the sights at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Montrose, Ouray, and the surrounding areas. The cabin was centrally located and in a beautiful area - so peaceful and great for walks with the dogs. The cabin was clean and well appointed with plenty of linens, games, books, dishes and cooking utensils. It even had a small stock of canned goods and there's a lodge nearby if you don't feel like cooking. However, there is ongoing work on Highway 50 and traffic becomes one-way and alternates directions. This affected our entering and exiting the little mountain community. Average wait time was about 30 minutes. And the highway shuts down at 7:30pm-6:30am (but not weekends) so we had to make sure we made it back to the cabin before the road closed. That was a bit inconvenient but, all-in-all, the cabin was perfect for us.

Peaceful Getaway in The Woods

The cabin is exactly as advertised, clean, comfortable and well-stocked. The Arrowhead development is somewhat remote, and is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The forest is amazing, with tall trees and lots of wildlife. It is out of the way, so bring plenty of groceries. Cell phone service and internet are spotty, giving you plenty of opportunity to unwind. The restaurant at the Arrowhead Lodge serves lunch and dinner, and the food and service are good. It is very casual, and they have Wi-Fi. There is a small store with the basics in the restaurant. The lakes are fun to fish, with hungry small trout to hit your fly. For a woodsy and quiet getaway, this is a good bet.

Great location, perfect for family of 6 plus a friend

Plenty of blankets, extra towels, well stocked kitchen with dishes and cookware. House was very clean. There were a few pieces of trash in and around the fire pit, but otherwise everything was great! Games, cards, books for all ages.

Amazing Cabin 2nd stay this year.

Again this cabin was amazing! We agreed that this year it was cleaner, more well cared for, and still reasonably priced. We hiked to the lakes around Arrowhead and had a wonderful time. We tried to rent a side by side from Arrowhead lodge this year. It was out of our budget with their current price. However, if you bought your own it would definitely add to your trip. The road construction left more to be desired, but still worth the inconvenience. We will definitely try to return next year if our budget allows.

Heavenly

If you long for peace, quiet and the beauty of nature, this is the perfect place. We really didn’t want to leave. *However, there is one caveat: Construction on Hwy 50 is a major inconvenience, making it difficult to come and go as you please. But if you plan ahead, have all your food and supplies with you, you won’t want to leave. Ever! P.S. Another recliner and strategically placed grab bars would be a nice addition for seniors. 🙂

Weekend away

We had a great time at the cabin! It's a very nice cabin in a beautiful part of Colorado. The fall colors were still on the trees, which made it extra beautiful. There was a light dusting of snow one night, but the cabin stayed nice & warm & comfortable. I'd love to go back again!

Quiet Getaway

Great cabin, it had everything we needed! It was in a great location in a beautiful area with lots of wildlife, and we appreciated that pets were welcome as our dogs came with and we all had a great time! Want to stay again!

Beautiful, private, comfortable. What's left to say? LOL There just wasn't enough time. My grown children came up for a couple of days and it was so nice to have plenty of beds. I really liked the ease and efficiency of asking the owner questions. The electricity went out for a couple of hours and I text Ralph questions about it. He answered back quickly and calmly. Really helped us.
