We are pleased to offer you our condo-The Briggs Suite- for your stay on PEI. The Briggs Suite is ideal for two adult couples, two business travelers from the same company or a family of four, each having its own queen sized bedroom and its own separate bathroom. With all of the amenities we include, plus a fabulous downtown Charlottetown location on the waterfront, plus a reasonable rate when shared between two couples, two business travelers or a family of four, we think you will find us to be of incredible value compared to the cost of two hotel rooms. We have been given a 4.5 star rating by Tourism PEI, the highest rating given to any other condo in the area. We are within a very short walking distance of the new Charlottetown Convention Center, the Charlottetown Events Grounds and Confederation Landing Park.

We are directly on the waterfront with harbor views from every window. Two decks overlook the water and Confederation Landing Park and are complete with patio furniture for afternoon tea, cocktails, sunset viewing and barbecuing. We are a short walking distance from the new Charlottetown Convention Center, the downtown Charlottetown Indoor Mall and the Charlottetown Events Grounds. Live theater at the Confederation Center of the Arts and outdoor bistro dining on Queen Street and at Victoria Row are less than a five minute walk away.

Getting Here....

Prince Edward Island is accessible via Air Canada year round and from a US gateway during the summer months.

Charlottetown can also be reached easily by car from Boston (11 hours), New York (15 hours), Toronto, Montreal and Quebec via the impressive Confederation Bridge which connects PEI directly to mainland New Brunswick at Tormentine.

Directions from the Eastern US:

Take I95 through Maine to Houlton, ME/Woodstock, NB. Then follow the Trans Canada Highway (Route 2) across New Brunswick passing Fredericton and Moncton to Tormentine. From the PEI side of the bridge, follow the TCH (Route 1 on PEI) into Charlottetown. Take the bypass around Charlottetown into the waterfront district. We are at the junction of Water Street and Hillsborough Street directly next to the Water Street Visitor's Center and Founder's Hall. The exact address is #1 Stan MacPherson Way in The Roseport building.

Directions from Toronto, Montreal and Quebec:

Pick up the Trans Canada Highway (Route 2) at Edmundston, NB which is at the Quebec border in Western New Brunswick. Follow the directions above to The Roseport. Travel time from Fredericton to Moncton is about 2 hours and from Moncton to Charlottetown is about 3 hours.

Please note that the Confederation Bridge is a toll bridge with the toll only being collected upon your departure from PEI. The present toll is $46.00 CAD.

About The Owner

Miriam and I are both 'washed ashore' from the states having grown up in New York and coastal New England respectively. Miriam received her undergraduate degree and MBA from Columbia (NYC) and Jeff graduated from Washington & Lee University (VA). We both are professionals. Jeff is a retired commercial banking VP from New York and Miriam completed a long stint as a marketing executive at one of the top IT companies in the world. She is looking forward to greeting guests to the island. We both like to travel ourselves (having done all seven continents) and know what we like when we get somewhere in terms of a first class experience. We believe we are offering one here with this harbor front property. Thanks for your interest and we hope to hear from you....

Why The Owner chose Charlottetown

Miriam and I chose to purchase rental property here because Prince Edward Island offers a remarkable vacation experience with its quaint fishing villages, rolling hills resembling those of Northern Switzerland and its pristine beaches. It is much like Cape Cod in many ways but without all the most places on this island the word 'traffic' does not even exist in one's lexicon! Additionally, visitor's to PEI will find a friendly welcome from almost everyone and there exists a spirit of community that is very real here. The Scottish tradition of Celtic music and step-dancing still lives on here on PEI and summer CEILDH's (Celtic music concerts) abound in almost every larger community during the summer months. Weather-wise, there actually is a real summer here (despite the more Northerly latitude) with temperatures in late June, July and August topping out at about 73-76 degrees Fahrenheit (about 23-24C). On most days there is an offshore breeze and air conditioning (while we offer it) is not usually necessary. Temperatures do cool down to the low 60's on most nights in summer and at the end of August it can feel like a September evening would feel on Cape Cod. I guess to sum it up, this place is a just a great spot to 'unwind', 'smell the flowers' and 'relax for a week or two' before resuming the daily pace of life that probably exists in your hometown.

What makes this condo unique

If I were to pick a few phrases to describe our Roseport location, these would be among them: Location, Location, Location and Views, views, views and more water views! Elegance and first-class amenities... Walking distance to just about everything - the new Charlottetown Convention Centre/theatre/shopping/antique stores/outdoor bistros/great restaurants (e.g., Sims Steakhouse, Olde Dublin Pub). The availability of first class entertainment at the Confederation Centre of the Arts; It's all here and all of it is within a 5 minute walk from your doorstep!

Your attention to detail is perfect, this is truly your home that you so graciously welcome guests into. We loved everything-2 nights dinner at Claddagh couldn't have been better, plus $1 oysters upstairs-w/ music!!! Blue Mussel on North Shore was an amazing find (in North Rustico). Perfect food, loc, owner.

Cell phone coverage is excellent from The Roseport. Other en-suite features include washer/dryer laundry, iron/ironing board, commercial clothes steamer, heated bathroom floors, desired kitchen appliances such as coffee maker, toaster, blender and food processor. Two decks offer direct views of the harbor and Confederation Landing Park each with patio furniture, one with an electric grill. Views of the Charlottetown waterfront can be seen from every window. Live theatre, many fine restaurants, antique stores and shopping are within a short 5 minute walk away. The building is handicapped and wheel-chair accessible with a high-speed elevator. Coffee-lovers take note - there is a Starbucks within a 5 minute walk of the condo. Great Indie movies are available at the City Cinema which is also a short walk away. Last, a popular hot yoga and spa establishment is within a 1 minute walk.

Perfect Locations; Owners Provide Every Detail

Owners Jeff and Miriam have thought of everything. Not only is this condo beautiful with a fantastic view, it is equipped with everything a visitor could possibly need. That includes all supplies and a completely operational internet connected workstation with printer and fax. The condo is laid out beautifully and appointed with superb style. The owners took the time to show us around the condo and explain how everything works. There is a binder in the living room full of attractions and restaurants. The location of the condo is perfect for two reasons. First, it is central to PEI for exploring the island in every direction. Secondly, the condo is right in the center of the best part of was so easy to walk to all the beautiful attractions and the best places to dine. Everything about staying at this condo was convenient. We hope to return to PEI again and hope we will find this condo available when we do.

Luxury Condo!

Our stay in Charlottetown could not have been more perfect! From the beautiful, well-furnished, spotless and well located condo to the gracious hostess, Miriam. Miriam and Jeff have thought of everything that you could possible need. We enjoyed watching the ships come into port and being able to walk to Peakes Wharf, many restaurants and shops. Restaurants that we would recommend: Peakes Quay, Lobster on the Wharf, Water-Prince Corner Shop, Leonhard's Café & Restaurant, Yolk Breakfast & Lunch, and Pizza Delight.

Be sure to sample Billy Timber Ice Cream at Peakes Whart. Tours: HippopotaBus, Prince Edward Island Brewing Co., Canadian Potato Museum, driving to Cavendish and Eastern Shore lighthouses. All-in-all, we had a memorable vacation on Prince Edward Island!

This is as close to perfection as you will come!

We had a fantastic stay at the Briggs Suite - right from the start, booking (from the UK) was made easy - Jeff was so helpful and friendly, and when we arrived early, Jeff and Miriam were very accommodating. The apartment is just lovely - luxurious, well and beautifully furnished, and so much thought has been given to making visitors feel welcome and to meet their every need - including emergency supplies, internet access & printing, basic needs (coffee, tea, etc) and fab laundry - so useful when travelling away from home for weeks on end! The condo is excellently placed - an easy stroll into town for the restaurants, pubs, etc, and a stone's throw from the wharf where evenings can be whiled away over a drink or an ice cream. Our stay there was perfect. We loved it and if we ever come back that way, we would definitely stay there again. Thanks Jeff and Miriam for being such charming, thoughtful hosts.

Ideal Vacation Retreat

This was our second time staying at 'The Briggs Executive Condo' and it was excellent in every way. The owners and gracious hosts, Miriam and Jeff, welcome you and make you feel right at home and you know from the start that this is going to be a special vacation. Their well-appointed, super clean condo has everything you could possibly want......full appliances, utensils, dishes, wine glasses, condiments tea, coffee, lush towels and linens etc. They have everything covered; even if you might have forgotten is well stocked! Air conditioning is a plus for those hot days and nights. As well, 2 beautiful decks, one off the spacious master bedroom and one from the living room provide amazing views of the ever changing harbour front landscape. This is our first choice of places to stay when visiting the Island!

Home away from home

Thank you very much Jeff and Miriam for welcoming us into your home. Beautifully decorated, well stocked condo with all the amenities of home. I loved sitting on the deck with my morning coffee and watching the activity on the dock. Being from Saskatchewan it was a bonus for us to wake up to a tanker one morning and a cruise ship the next. Thank you for the warm welcome and the bottle of wine. We will happily recommend your condo to our friends.

Overbearing Owner

Our interaction with the owner, Jeff Briggs, started our holiday in PEI on a sour note. Jeff and his wife met us at the condo for check-in and Jeff proceeded to read us the riot act with a complete list of DON’Ts, like we were his teenage children who he was leaving home for the weekend; certainly not paying customers. He really upset me. I have travelled internationally since I was 4, lived throughout Canada and the US and have never been spoken to so condescendingly by an accommodations provider.

My partner and I paid the Briggs a hefty fee for 3 nights, plus a significant damage deposit, to rent their property and Jeff made it explicitly clear to us the condo is “his home” and to “take good care of it” verses our rental and enjoy. For the next 30 minutes Jeff proceeded to tell us his rules and show us in painful detail how to use just about everything in the condo, like we were born under a rock, to the point he actually displayed how to open the shower door, as if it was brain surgery. “Do not pull the door open, it slides open”. To avoid wasting more time with Jeff’s overbearing and patronizing ways, my fiancé smiled and nodded and I bit my tongue while having very unpleased body language. We were so unimpressed.

The condo itself is lovely, however on a 24 hour working dock which is noisy especially in the mornings. Miriam gave us the challenge of finding something they didn’t have and we only found coffee whitener, bottled water as it is suppose to be 4.5 stars and a garbage bucket in the second room missing. Otherwise, it was very well equipped. My brother, a local RCMP officer, told me the developer is having a hard time selling the condos because of the location on the working dock. Otherwise, it’s great, close to shops, restaurants and pubs.

On the morning of check out at about 10:57 am we had a knock at the door from a women, perhaps their cleaning lady, surprised we were still there (though it wasn't quite 11am and she must have been able to hear us). We informed her we'd be out in a few minutes. We left and down on the main floor, to no surprise, were Jeff and Miriam waiting for us to vacate.

In our opinion, Jeff should not be renting “his home” as he didn’t seem to have the personality to appropriate handle the risk of others stay in it. You cannot treat paying customers like you are doing them a favour, or morons, and expect a good review. The amenity of the condo was not enough to swallow Jeff’s disrespect. I wish I had a better review.

Owner's Response: 13 July 2015 Obviously, we are disappointed to receive this review; especially when we go out of our way to give our clients a warm welcome, assistance with their luggage and take the time to explain the key features of our property. We also provide helpful suggestions orally and in writing in a specially prepared guidebook that Miriam prepared highlighting local restaurants, places to visit and things to do. It is unfortunate that in this case our clients did not appreciate the time taken to do this and viewed it as "overbearing". It is noteworthy that Ann Marie failed to mention that a few days prior to her arrival date on the island, she emailed us to cancel the last day of her stay which, according to the terms of the rental agreement she signed with us, authorized us to charge her for that portion of her stay - which we graciously decided not to enforce as a courtesy to her and family. We of course were unable to rent space for this last day and accepted gracefully without comment what was obviously a financial loss to us. There was no good reason provided for the cancellation of the last day - it was simply indicated in an email sent to us. Our home is indeed a home in which we reside in the off season and it is furnished with elegant furnishings and some antiques. We do make polite mention of this to our clients as well as a few recommendations to ensure the property is properly looked after - which helps us to avoid possible unnecessary damage and protects our clients and their damage deposits as well. We regret these suggestions were received as "overbearing" as this clearly was not our intention. Here at PEI Vacations we have successfully rented to well over 100 happy families whose reviews can be seen here on our VRBO page. We are saddened that in this case we were not wholly successful in our efforts and look forward to our next opportunity to welcome folks into our home. A very wise man once remarked: You can please some of the people ALL of the time You can please all of the people SOME of the time. BUT YOU CANNOT PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME! Again, we regret that this one did not work as well as we may have hoped it would. We cheerfully accept this criticism, however, and look forward to working as hard as we can to provide our clients a memorable experience going forward. A signed rental agreement is required prior to check in. This will be provided as part of the reservation process.
Cancellation Terms/Refund Policy:
When given at least 14 days prior to the beginning of your reservation, your deposit will be refunded less a $50 Canadian service charge. If less than 14 days notice is given, but we are able to re-book your reservation, your deposit will be returned less a $50 Canadian service charge. If we are unable to re-book the reservation, then the full amount of your stay will be forfeited. Early departures will also be charged for the full length of stay unless we are able to rebook the entire reservation.

A 50% deposit of the total stay amount is required at the time a reservation is confirmed; plus a $375 (refundable) security deposit. We accept deposit payments via PAYPAL. The 50% balance due amount and final cleaning fee is paid via PAYPAL not later than 7 days prior to your arrival date. Your $375 security deposit is refunded to you by PAYPAL or mailed check within 3 days following checkout.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
