Hear the call of the loons on this private lake in southern Maine! This recently renovated, open concept, year round home has the amenities you need for a getaway including a dock and outdoor fireplace. Enjoy peaceful mornings canoeing on the lake or sipping coffee on the dock or your deck. Watch the water skiers, pontoon boats and sailboats adorn the lake on the weekends. Enjoy kayaking or bring your own SUPs or other non-motorized watercraft. (There is no public boat launch for motorized water craft.) Play some ping pong when you need a break from the water or build a fire in the outdoor fireplace. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings in the fall and winter.

With one bedroom/bath on the main floor and one bedroom/bath downstairs in the daylight basement, this house is perfect for two couples! The kitchen, with its live edge wood countertops, is a beautiful place to cook a meal. Or, have our nearby local fish market steam some fresh Maine lobsters for you. Less than a half hour from the Old Port in Portland, Freeport, and the Portland International Jetport (PWM), you get the best of both worlds-lake living and easy access to tourist spots! This is a close knit lakeside neighborhood on a private wooded camp road and your host lives nearby, as well. Come and experience lake living!

Beautiful location and views with everything you could possibly need. The house and grounds were spotless and well maintained. Great communication with Paula regarding check-in and check-out. I never wanted to leave the property and had the most relaxing vacation.

Relaxing lake vacation spot!

My husband and I had a wonderful week's vacation at this lovely lake house! The owner was extremely responsive, very kind and the house was super clean! Great location close to Portland and Freeport and other small towns. The lake was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed kayaking and fishing.

Perfect Location

This property has been completely remodeled and everything is brand new and clean. It is spacious and offers fantastic views of the lake. We even saw an eagle come very close to the house. I highly recommend staying here.

Lovely Lakeside

My husband, adult daughter and I spent a week at this wonderful house. It is comfortably furnished with a modern kitchen, and beautiful views of the lake. We enjoyed kayaking, canoeing and fishing right from our dock. Paula was a perfect host and answered any questions we had promptly. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything we wanted

Very clean and well stocked. Perfect for family vacation. We floated in the lake, paddled the kayaks and fished from the dock. Super relaxing and quiet. Excellent communication with the host, Paula. 30 minute drive to downtown Portland.

Our hosts work hard to make this home special. And indeed it is! They pay attention to details from night lighting on the outside picnic table to providing firewood. The kitchen is roomy with all the needed pots, pans, and utensils. This home lacks for nothing. And, oh, did I mention the loons?

Our stay at the cottage on Forest Lake was wonderful! We felt at home the moment we walked in the door and were greeted by a bouquet of beautiful wild flowers. The home was perfectly clean and had everything we needed! Comfortable beds, every possible amenity, beautiful wood working and the view was unsurpassed, right on the shore. Quiet, peaceful and gorgeous. Paula was the the perfect host. She answered any question promptly and was always there if we needed anything. I wish we could leave more than 5 stars.

We had a great week staying at this house. House renovations were top notch. It was very clean and uncluttered. Communication and responsiveness from Paula was awesome. Swam in the lake every day. Had fun using the provided kayaks and ping pong table! House had everything we needed for a great week.

Perfect Maine Lake Escape

What a great escape from the hustle and bustle of life! My husband and I loved the cottage on the lake. Everything was beautiful from the kitchen to the views to the quiet setting! Our host was tremendous and went out of her way to make us feel welcomed, even leaving fresh flowers for our arrival. The location is ideal. We did day trips to Freeport and Portland and came home to the sit on the deck and watch the . I highly recommend this tranquil escape!!

Forest Lake, Gray Maine

This property is wonderful! We arrived to an impeccably clean house. There were welcoming touches left for us. The kitchen is well thought and stocked with good quality houseware. The beds and living spaces were very comfortable. The views of the lake are stellar - we had an added bonus of there being a full moon to appreciate. We highly recommend this property and intend to return.

Perfect lake vacation

This was the perfect lake cabin for my husband and me and our daughter and son-in-law. They were delighted with the lake access just outside the door and took advantage of swimming and boating almost every day. My husband and I enjoyed the gorgeous view and quiet reading time. We did a few day trips in the area as well. The cabin was exceptionally clean and provided all the linens, kitchen supplies and boating needs we could want. The interior has been recently remodeled and is very comfortable for four people. We enjoyed our stay and would book again if in the area.

Wonderful Vacation on Forest Lake

The property was fantastic. The inside of the home was very clean with beautiful water views of the lake. We spent most of our time sitting outside at the dock or on one of the balconies. The weather was perfect and warm enough to go in the lake. My husband enjoyed fishing!! Paula is a great host and communicated with us several times during our stay, even on the long journey back to our home. Would love to return again next year. You can't go wrong with this place!!

Lake house stay in Maine

The property was in great condition and very fully and attractively equipped. We didn’t even get around to using all the amenities. Having kayaks available to use on the lake was appreciated, and the lake is so close that you feel like you’re right on the water when you’re sitting in the living room. We also appreciated that the owner made it easy to recycle. Communications were easy and the owner was very responsive.

dreamy, quiet, perfect lake getaway

we had a truly relaxing and wonderful time at this gorgeous property. we thought we would scoot out to beaches or portland- both close- but why leave when the gorgeous lake are in the backyard. we grilled on the new grill, enjoyed the beautifully renovated kitchen, kayaked, canoed, swam, and rested deeply- which was possible because of the sweet location. we were sad to leave and can’t wait to return. paula and joe were hands off but available but we didnt need them. everything was blissful.

A Week on Forest Lake

Our experience in Maine was outstanding. Paula communicated clearly so that we knew what to expect. The house was clean and prepared with everything needed for a week long retreat. The kitchen had everything needed. We had access to a canoe, kayaks, life jackets and paddles. The fishing was excellent! Paula even had fresh-cut flowers and coffee waiting for us. Couldn’t have been a better experience.

Do not hesitate to book this quiet, lakefront property

Do not hesitate to book this quiet, lakefront property. It is even better than described. The house is extremely clean and it has everything you need for an easy getaway. Paula, the owner, is quick to respond to texts. Highlights include multiple windows overlooking the lake, nice towels, plenty of pillows and blankets and a comfortable bed. There is also plenty of hot water. The property is nicely landscaped with a balcony, deck, outdoor fire place,and a private dock. Two kayaks, a canoe, and life jackets are available to explore the lake. We loved swimming in the lake and there is a drying rack in the basement for wet swimsuits.
