Very nice cottage

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great week at the cottage. Very quiet, well kept cottage. Would recommend anyone to stay there and may do so again ourselves. Owner was very cooperative when we had questions and easy to deal with.

All the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

My family absolutely loved our stay at this cottage. Beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. Every detail is thought of; from throw pillows and blankets, to a well equipped kitchen to games and videos. Plenty of room to spread out around the house, including a lovely deck, nicely maintained yard and fire pit area. We loved the lake and private access for our kayaks and fishing. The cottage is located in a great area for day trips. We went to Ludington and Traverse City. My husand was able to fish the Pere Marquette and other local lakes. The county park beach located on Rose Lake was a big hit with our daughter, a park and beach all rolled into one, and ice cream too!! The golf cart was a nice bonus, but the area is very nice for walking. Our exchanges with the owner were very pleasnat. He was very helpful in answering all of our questions, making suggestions for activities and making himself available if we need anything.

Great place to get away

  • 5 of 5

A group of 4 of us rented the cottage and went ice fishing for a few days at Rose Lake. The cottage was within walking distance of the lake. Having a garage to pull all of our fishing stuff in over night was a huge plus. We caught a lot of fish, and everyone had a great time.

We cooked all of our food in the cabin. Kitchen was well stocked with supplies. They do have a nice selection of DVD's to watch. We would throw one on while we were making dinner. The cottage was clean and neat. We were very surprised at how well the snow was managed. In past trips to the area at other rentals snow was piled up everywhere. At this rental the deck was even cleaned off, which was nice.

It is a great place to get away, and we had a great time. It was very quiet and peaceful. We are looking forward to coming back again when we need to find some ice to fish on in the winter.

Owners were very good to deal with. This was the first time that we had rented from VRBO, and I was throroughly impressed. Everything was easy, and it worked out great. Thanks again for a great trip, and we look forward to coming again.

We stayed toasty warm despite the bitter cold.

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to the Quinn family for sharing their wonderful cottage with us. Our stay there happened to be during a brutal cold spell. Temps were single digit and the wind-chills were as low as -15 below zero. We did venture out for exercise several times however our outings were short-lived due to the biting cold. We stayed toasty warm in the house and all of us commented on how well constructed the building was as there were no drafts and no chilly spots. It was our intention to sit around the fire and chat with visiting family and that we did…comfortably. The fireplace was a MUST in our decision as to where to stay.

There was nothing missing…nothing that we wished we had…it was all provided. We love VRBO and have had many wonderful stays all across the country. To us it is the only way to travel.

Again, thanks Howard and Melissa for sharing your comfortable, beautiful, well stocked home. We just may come back one day when the weather is warmer. ;o)

Owner's Response: We love winter. Winter is one of our best and yes, coldest times to vacation. If you and your family like to spend time outside during this season, you will love the surrounding area for walks, x-country skiing, snow shoeing, ice fishing and snowmobiling. After that you can build a bonfire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows on a open fire. People have asked us, do you really do those thing's, I mean the fire pit and cooking hot dogs? Yes We Do! As Peggy mentioned, enjoying a warm interior is not all bad either. thank's again, Peggy

Skiiing getaway

  • 5 of 5

The place is perfict...2 things that needs addressing; One, the TV's has 2 channels and the 2 channels has info-murchiels ALL DAY LONG..ARG. And number TWO- at the top of the driveway is a row of snow covered rocks....it has caused us 1500.00 worth of damage to the car...ARG. Please, for future renters, flag the rocks :)

Other than that, I LOVED the house, the style, it was simply beautiful. :)

Owner's Response: We are blessed that we receive two channels, if we received more, my kids would never leave the TV and go outside and enjoy their vacation time. That is why we provide 30 or so DVDs of all movie ratings, cards, board games, magazines, books and puzzles to name a few activities. If you have a service such as Netflix or HuLu, you can watch your device through our TV via HDMI cable, signal for your device may be sketchy. thank you so much!

Wonderful Winter Weekend.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was just perfect for family fun. The kids were able to sled in the snow right down the driveway for hours while the sun shined. It was a wacky winter where snow was on the ground with 65 degree temps. We played lots of card and board games, went for walks, and cooked great meals in the fabulous kitchen. It is such a peaceful place. I think we saw one other car while we were there. We would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake and do some kayaking. This place has everything you could need or want. Really comfy and cozy and a perfect way to enjoy the best Michigan has to offer.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! I'm glad you had snow to enjoy as well. One of my favorite things to do in the winter at the cottage is cross country ski the trails and the frozen lake. We hope to see you again at Quinnshady!
