Lovely home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a grand time over the holidays in this lovely home! We enjoyed all the beauty of Santa Fe at Christmas- the lights on the Plaza, the Christmas Eve farolita walk on Canyon Road, various musical offerings at the Basilica and Loretta Chapel and this year we enjoyed it all without snow. We took day hikes and explored the canyons nearby. We walked into town everyday, at least once, and never found it to be too far. Sprouts and Albertsons are nearby. Rita and Tom were great hosts, and very attentive to any concerns we had. They even provided our own farolitas for the back porch area! We would stay here again.

Very close to perfect . . .

  • 5 of 5

This was the best VRBO/HomeAway experience I have had, and this house will be my first choice when I return to Santa Fe. The house was large, and very well appointed, including comfy seating in the living room for five. In addition to the fresh roses and placesettings at the dining table to greet us, there were many hangers, and the wire drawers and clothes hamper in each bedroom closet were unexpected and welcome touches. The house was very clean, with enough personal touches to make it homey, but also enough space for us to spread out and not have to worry about our things getting mixed in with our host's things. We had access to wi-fi at both ends of the house, and the office printer allowed us to arrive at the airport with boarding passes in hand. Rita greeted us in person upon arrival, checked in via text the next morning, and was then available if needed (which she was not). I agree with other reviews that home is probably 4-5 blocks from plaza, with one of these blocks a gradual uphill . . . we chose to drive to town and use our walking energy there. Our only disappointment was that we arrived just before kiva season, so we were unable to have a fire on the one chilly night during our visit. Otherwise, we had a wonderful sister visit, and highly recommend this home and our host, Rita. Thank you, Rita, for providing us with this wonderful home away from home!

Lovely home away from home

  • 5 of 5

So happy to find that this place lived up to all of the previous great reviews. Rita is a great hostess, welcoming & helpful but not intrusive. House was immaculate; fresh flowers were a thoughtful touch. Beds were SO comfortable; bedrooms were away from each other for privacy and were very quiet. Nice, plush towels. Plenty of supplies; didn't have to buy our own toilet paper, kleenex, etc. like some places. In fact, she also had laundry supplies, shampoo & conditioner, basic spices, plastic wrap & aluminum foil, plenty of dish soap, etc. There are also numerous extra blankets & pillows, should you need them. There is a nice selection of books on Santa Fe and New Mexico in the office. Appreciated having a wireless printer and paper at our disposal because we were able to print out our boarding passes for return trip! It was really nice to be able to pull in the driveway and park directly behind the house. We enjoyed sitting outside in the private front courtyard in the evenings when it was cooling down - so nice and relaxing. I will say that the '3 blocks' that many cited this house being from the Plaza are longer blocks than what we have in the midwest; equivalent to about 5 blocks. Additionally, a portion of it is downhill going and uphill coming back. If you are not used to this altitude, it can be a taxing walk, especially when you first arrive. The Free SF Shuttle does have a stop in front of the Library on Washington Street (not quite as far as the Plaza) which you can hop on and be taken to the Capitol, Railyard, and many other sites, some of which have challenging parking, so this was a help. We found the location of this house to be very convenient to not only the historic downtown area, but right off of Paseo de Peralta, which is a main street and made getting around and finding our way back much easier. Our only recommendation for this house would be to provide some plastic dishes. We would have felt more comfortable using these for our restaurant leftovers or quick sandwich, rather than stoneware & glass glasses for everything.

Santa Fe is a lovely place to visit. We enjoyed the Loretto Chapel, Oldest House, Oldest Church, Plaza, State Capitol, the Martyr's cross at Fort Marcy (just up the hill from the house on Kearny), & more. We took a day and drove to the Taos Pueblo, stopping at Camel Rock on the way there and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge on the way back. Be sure to take the scenic route - gorgeous!!

Wonderful home in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I just returned from Santa Fe after spending a week with my brother and his wife. We are from Iowa and they are from California. This lovely, immaculately clean, well appointed home made our vacation. This spacious adobe had plenty of room for two couples, private baths for both bedrooms, lovely living spaces, including a library, complete with area tourism info, cookbooks and a great selection of casual reading.

Our hosts had thought of everything, including a vase of fresh roses that greeted us upon our arrival. The kitchen was well stocked with an abundance of quality equipment, including a gas range with convection oven. Being a chef, I was surprised to find sharp knives and a drawer full of useful gadgets. There were lots of dishes, serving and bake ware, wine glasses, etc. Small appliances were stashed in cupboards. AND there was a dining room with side boards full of attractive table linens. Cooking was fun, but we were also just blocks away from wonderful restaurants.

The second bedroom was good-sized, with loads of closet space (and lots of hangers). It had it's own private bath. The master bedroom was huge and the master bath was better than most.

The patio door in the living room led out to a lovely yard, complete with beautiful plantings, a gas grill, umbrella table and chairs, plus furniture for simply lounging and enjoying the mountain views.

Why stay in a resort? We've done that before. This property far exceeded the resort experience. Our hosts were available, greeted us upon arrival, checked in on us via text message after a day or two to make sure we were enjoying our experience and provided us with an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the Santa Fe area and return after our journeys to relax with ALL the comforts of home. Our next visit to Santa Fe will include this home.

Wonderful home

  • 5 of 5

This home is what one hopes every VRBO experience is like. A very well appointed and comfortable house, extremely well located and extremely well run by responsive owners. I cannot recommend it more highly and would stay here again should the opportunity arise. I'd give it six stars if possible!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were so comfortable, it was difficult to leave. Your attention to every little detail went far beyond our expectations. The flowers, the wonderful coffee, the plus towels and sheets and your personal greeting was very appreciated. When we return to Santa Fe, we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Thank you.

The casita is located in the northeast section of the city near the Plaza and one block away from the Ski Basin Road. Nearby attractions include: Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Museum of Art, Palace of the Governors and Cross of the Martyrs.
