The Silo is a very unique experience, and we invite you to experience it! The Silo is exactly that – a guest room built inside a grain bin. It has all the traditional furnishings of a hotel room – a great bed, table with chairs, refrigerator, and microwave – but it does not have television, running water, or an indoor bathroom. It does have electricity, wi-fi, propane heat, dishes and silverware, BBQ grill with side burner, an outdoor restroom facility (build in a large culvert), and spectacular views.
We provide fresh water, bedding, linens, coffee, and board games, but the environment provides the best experience. If you are lucky, you’ll get to listen to the rain on the tin roof or the coyotes singing on the hills. Some days, our horses roam the property, and every day, our dogs will stop to say hello. In the fall, you'll also hear the elk bugle. But be warned, the wind might wake you with its own loud midnight lullaby. In the morning, watch for deer crossing on the hillside, or step across the drive to view the elk and buffalo on the neighbor’s game ranch.
The outdoor bathroom facility includes a waterless toilet and a basic solar showering system. We get LTD cell service with T-Mobile from The Silo. The wifi is being extended from the house, so it's strong enough to check your email but not capable of streaming movies or video chatting.
During the summer, you can access the cabin site in a 2-wheel drive car, but the dirt road can be bumpy or muddy. We recommend driving a vehicle with 4-wheel drive in late fall to early spring as the weather can be unpredictable. If you aren't sure, please ask us about the current conditions of the road.
