This rustic 2-bedroom cabin is conveniently located on large private pond just outside the city limits of Mt. Vernon with shopping, dining, brewery and entertainment. We are pet friendly, dogs only (additional $50 per stay, max 2 dogs) with all the modern convenience, fully stocked kitchen, 50" flat screen smart TV, washer/dryer and fast internet. Outdoor fireplace/grill is the perfect hangout just steps from deck overlooking the large pond. 4-person paddle boat is there for use during your stay.

This place was sooo cute! Loved everything about it. They have a baddleboat and my son and nephew had a blast. They caught huge bass and catfish. They have a grill, fire pit and a nice dock to sit on. If we had warmer weather it would have been perfect. There is a pretty busy road out front. The hosts were very responsive and they leave a nice welcome gift. We will be back when the weather warms up because the boys are obsessed! Thanks for having us!

Comfy cozy cabin

We enjoyed our stay at Al and Sues cabin. The fishing and paddle boating were fun. The cabin and property are clean, comfortable and just a nice place to stay and relax. We would definitely stay here again.

The cabin was a little to close to a busy street for our dogs. But it was still a nice stay.

We had a good time fishing and using the paddle boat and canoe. The cabin was very nice.

It's a really nice place. Thankfully I saw the reviews about the road traffic, since we both have conditions that are made worse by noise...so we came prepared w/ earplugs. Other than the noise from the road, it's a really nice getaway.

This was a nice rustic place that was just what I needed. It was charming, and the very responsive hosts welcomed you with locally made fresh baked goods and spirits!Some things other renters might like to know: it is on a busy street, the kitchen is a bit dark over the sink and stove area, so cooking was challenging for me, and the fireplace can only be used for an hour at a time.I gladly recommend this quaint little getaway, and also want to give a shout out to a local restaurant in downtown Mt Vernon - The Alcove. Fabulous dining. Thanks for sharing your place!

Apologies you felt the kitchen was too dark, we try to keep low lighting to feel cozy, but we will take into consideration some people may prefer more lighting. We ask that you limit the use of the indoor gas fireplace during extreme cold temperatures only because if used too long, it can shut down the furnace and cause freezing pipes. Sorry for the inconvenience (it actually happened once). Absolutely, The Alcove is one of our favorites, thank you for the shout out to them! We hope you will visit us again! Al & Sue

Anniversary get away

We enjoyed our little get away and the pumpkin bread that was left for us was delicious. Very nice and relaxing. Loved the hot tub and spent a lot of time on the paddle boat..we will keep this place in mind for other get aways and family events

Pretty spot near Mt. Vernon

We stayed 3 nights during a trip to Ohio for a college visit and enjoyed this charming cabin on a pretty little lake. The house worked great and the host was very helpful when we realized how late we would be getting in. Highly recommend!

Comfy cabin close to everything!

We went for a girls weekend for my daughter's 18th birthday. We had a great time! We love the hot tub and the pond. Everything in downtown is so close and easy to access. We had a very comfortable stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Getaway

What a gem in Mount Vernon. We thoroughly enjoyed our Thanksgiving getaway at Shimmeringly Pond. Kitchen had everything we needed and did some serious relaxing. Will definitely be back. Hopefully the fish will be biting in warmer weather.

Making memories

Stay in the cabin with my 10yr old grandson, spent alot of time fishing. The pond was great for fishing and peddle boat. Not a swimming pond just a note, not criticism. The location was great was able go alot of hicking in the area. Our stay at Mt Vernon was awesome, thank you so much for sharing your home. God Bless

Shimmering Pond Cabin

This was our second stay with Al and Sue. We had stayed in their other cabin last year. We loved everything about our stay and the property. We are definitely going to book another stay with them. They are the best property owners we have had out of all the VRBO properties we have rented. Ten out of ten!

Perfect base camp.

We stayed for a week while visiting family. It was a perfect stay/base camp. House is exactly as advertised and my teens loved fishing, paddle boating and relaxing in the hot tub. We took our Boston Terrier and he enjoyed walking around the pond and in the surrounding neighborhoods. We even played some of the provided board games on a rainy evening. Thanks so much for opening your home to us.

Perfect getaway

This lovely cabin was so cozy! I soon forgot that there were neighbors and traffic coming and going. Sitting by the lake and just decompressing was exactly what I needed. The hosts provided such clear instructions as well as a "welcome book" for local shops, etc. They also left the most delicious pumpkin bread as a treat! Will definitely stay here again.

Shimmering Pond

Had a fantastic time! Property manager was excellent (thank you again Al), answered all of my questions promptly and provided us with everything we could need. Everything was perfect from enjoying the front porch during a thunderstorm, making s'mores on the stone grill , watching the meteor shower from the hot tub, tons of fishing and paddle boating to relaxing on the couch watching TV. Just perfect from beginning to end.

Very nice property close to town.

Property was clean, and everything was provided that you could possibly need during your stay. Owners are very thoughtful. The complimentary wine and pumpkin bread was a very nice touch indeed. Property was close to town so everything was a short drive. Wished it had been warmer to enjoy the outdoor fireplace and pond which were all very nice. My only complaint would be that there was alot of road noise, expecially in the A.M. as the cabin was really close to the road, but all in all wasnt a deal breaker for us. It suited our needs and we had a great stay.

My husband and I had a very relaxing stay. The hot tub was great. Sitting by the pond was very nice. The furniture was comfortable and the WiFi was fast- we were able to stream movies and sports. The cabin is a short drive to Mt Vernon, where we visited a great little book store, coffee shop and microbrewery. We would definitely stay here again.
