Our condo unit is private and peaceful. Flowers grow on our two balconies and we rarely eat meals inside. The main balcony looks over a lush garden setting with the West Maui Mountains in the background. The trade winds send interesting cloud formations to these mountains.

In December, 2014, we remodeled both bath rooms and completely replaced all the indoor floor tile The kitchen was been also updated. In November, 2016, we replaced the entire carpet area.

This two bedroom, two bath unit is 1052 square feet. There is no unit on one side or above so there is little noise from neighbors. Our condo has privacy. The upstairs bath has two sinks and an extra large shower. The downstairs bath is smaller but has a bathtub and a shower included. The downstairs bedroom has twin beds and a separate lanai with flowers. We have two new LCD flat screen TVs. We also have a closet on the main lanai with boogie boards, beach chairs and children's beach toys. A safe is included for protection of valuables.

This is a low rise, low density development that has two pools, two Jacuzzis, tennis courts and multiple BBQ areas. We have excellent access to all the facilities. The complex is across the street from the famous Kamaole Beaches and is a short drive from other superb beaches, snorkeling spots, golf courses and the Wailea shops.

Our unit offers the comfort of home with a well equipped kitchen. There is an air-conditioner in each bed room and the living room but we find that the fans along with the tropical breezes do quite well. We have been coming to Maui for many years and every time we come, there is another reason to return.

About Croil Anderson

My wife and I have been coming to Maui since 1970 ... the original development of south Maui began after that and my father was a part of it. He moved to Maui for some years and our daughter took her first steps on Kamaole Beach. We owned a condo earlier before purchasing this one.

Why Croil Anderson chose South Maui

We knew that Maui Kamaole was a unique place with the private garden settings. We also like the layout of our condo with the upstairs bedroom and the vaulted ceiling. We particularly enjoy the view of the West Maui Mountains from our lanai because we are hikers and it reminds us of the mountains that we love in Seattle minus the snow. At Maui Kamaole, we love the fragrance of the flowers.

What makes this condo unique

We enjoy the ability to take long walks and snorkel at beaches filled with tropical fish and beautiful coral. We also hike in the mountains and have done many hikes in the crater.

Great property, large and quiet

Loved our stay, large unit, lots of room. Quiet property with a great pool. Everything you need is in the kitchen, which is awesome when you prefer to eat in. Croil is lovely to deal with.

Wonderful condo

We stayed for a week with our three young adult children in this condo. It fit our needs perfectly. The price was right, the grounds were beautiful and well-kept, and the interior was spacious and clean. It was also quiet, and we could park close to the front door but with no traffic noise. It was pretty warm and humid during our time there, and so we liked having the option of air-conditioning. The kitchen had all the things we needed, including a dishwasher. Since five of us ate in for breakfast and a few dinners, we appreciated that! The main lanai has a lovely outlook onto the grounds, just as it looks in the photo in this listing - great for sitting with a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. We used the smaller pool close by a couple of times as well as the spa. It was really nice to have all the beach equipment available to us - umbrella, chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, two small coolers - and we used some or all of them every day of our stay. We walked to the closest beach (Kamaole III) a couple of times and could have (but didn't) walk to some restaurants and shops. The owner was very responsive to all of our inquiries. As far as recommendations, Po'olenalena Beach was great for boogie-boarding (good surf after the hurricane); Maluaka Beach for snorkeling and swimming with giant turtles; zip-lining through Flyin Hawaiian, which was really fun though really expensive; waterfall hike out on the Hana Highway (listed under "Adventures" in Maui Revealed); the top of Haleakala just to walk around and gawk. We ate at and recommend Cafe O'Lei, Roasted Chilies, Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahaina, a flatbread pizza place in Pa'ia.

Great Find

We stayed for a week with our family of four (two young adult children). The condo was spacious, clean, quiet, well appointed, and in a beautiful condo complex. Most of the condo complexes in this part of Maui are high rises closely smushed together. The Maui Kamaole has rolling lawns on a hill interspersed with small condo units (two story townhomes), swimming pools, jacuzzis, tennis court, and trees with birds. One delight was looking out the window by the dining table and seeing which birds were in the tree. The parking space is steps away from the apartment, very convenient for lugging in groceries. We walked to the beach on a couple of occasions, and drove to beaches nearby the rest of the time. There are lots of good restaurants within a five minute drive. Supermarkets, a natural foods store, a snorkeling gear rental place - actually anything you need is within a short distance from this condo.

Probably the main decision you need to make is whether you want to splurge for an ocean front room or if you would be happy with a garden view. We found this garden view property to be peaceful and private and relaxing. The front desk at the condo complex was helpful and friendly. Croil, the owner, responded quickly to any email inquiries. I was concerned that the weather forecasted rain for the entire week we were going to be on Maui. Croil correctly predicted that it would not be that rainy in Kihei, even if it was storming on other parts of the island. We were able to go to the beach every day.

Recommendations: Ahihi Hinau preserve for snorkeling (20 minutes south of the condo) - easy access and clear water (no sand on the beach, only lava rocks), a live coral reef, lots of pretty fish. Ululani's in Lahaina for shave ice. They use natural syrups and their ice is sooo soft. Monkeypod in Lahaina for special meals. Provisions in Pa'ia and Oceanside in Wailuku for farm to table meals. Mana Foods in Pa'ia for organic vegetables and bulk food. Big Beach for quintessential Hawaiian sand beach. Snorkel Bob's for their swim belt flotation device if you are not a strong swimmer - keeps arms and legs free for swimming with no worry about staying afloat!

Bathrooms are newly remodeled. Washer/dryer and dishwasher worked well and were very useful. Beds were comfortable. Twin beds and bathroom downstairs and master bed/bath upstairs provide a sense of spaciousness and privacy.

The unit was awesome. It was very clean, comfortable and conveniently located close to Kam Beach III, Wailea and the stores. The beach was a few minutes walk from the unit. The unit also provided us with beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler bag, beach towels and boogie boards.

The kids had a great time in the pool as well and the Condo grounds are well kept.

Croil was lovely to deal with and provided us with lots of information. The condo is well stocked with great books, linens and beach supplies.

We really enjoyed our stay and looked forward to returning from our hot sunny days at the beach to the air conditioned condo.

We hope to return to Maui and would certainly stay at the condo again.

Nice Place

The Maui Kamaole is a nice facility in a great location. I would recommend this unit. The owners are fantastic to deal with, responsive, and the unit was exactly as advertised. Although it could use a little updating here and there, everything works, its very clean, and the whole complex is very quiet. Security is great, and on top of everything so we felt very comfortable here. A parking spot was included and it was very close to the unit. BBQ's were just steps away and in great working condition. Pools were nice, especially the upper pool. Staff were great and helpful. One thing for travelers with Children to note is that this is very quiet facility little tolerance here for noise at the pools etc. We had no problems because our girls are a bit older, but witnessed others with young children getting in trouble from security or other residents for making too much noise. This level of diligence will be a huge plus for a large majority of renters those looking for a quiet vacation get away, but for anyone with active kids you probably want to consider a different more family friendly location.

Overall, a great experience staying here, and would come here again.

Fantastic Rental

We just returned from a fabulous week staying at this property, and we can't speak highly enough of this experience. The condo was wonderfully clean and very comfortable. It felt very private, well designed, and with picturesque landscaping. The description and photos do a good job of depicting the property. The unit itself was well soundproofed, and we never heard our neighbors when we were in the unit. Our family of three had more than enough space to spread out and be relaxed. The kitchen was well stocked with good quality cooking utensils (pots, pans, dishes, etc.), and we found ourselves enjoying most meals from the comfort of the condo and the lovely main patio. So much easier than trying to take a tired three year old out to dinner every night. We really appreciated the closet full of boogie boards, beach chairs, sand toys, and snorkel stuff, having those things available made our daily excursions to the beach easy and comfortable. The Kihei area was ideal for us. The condo offers easy access to grocery stores, ice cream shops, gear rental places, a variety of restaurants, and many gorgeous beaches (the closest beach is an easy 5-10 minute walk). It was also a great launching point for various island adventures as well, although most of the time we were pretty lazy beach bums. Croil (the owner) was a great source of information for suggestions on what to do and what some of their other favorite beaches and activities in the area are great!

On the last day we saw a pod of humpback whales breaching a little ways off shore, a fantastic goodbye. Our only complaint was that we only came for a week, next time we'll stay longer!
