Why The Owner chose Moneta

The owners were full time residents of Smith Mountain Lake from 1994 until 2003, when a job relocation forced them to leave the area (temporarily, we'll definitely be back!). The home location was chosen as the perfect setting in a cove ideal for swimming, and also on a point with spectacular wide water/main channel views.

What makes this house unique

Located a short distance from Bridgewater Plaza at Hales Ford Bridge. Several restaurants, a marina, mini-golf, retail shops, and other forms of entertainment are waiting there for you to enjoy.

Beautiful spacious home in a great location with everything you need for a great vacation.

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect! Plenty of room in the living room for everyone to gather as well as a large table for everyone to enjoy a meal together. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed with a large island and additional seating. On the upper deck there are also two tables to sit at and watch the sunset while you enjoy dinner cooked on the gas grill. Two bedrooms and two full baths upstairs and two bedrooms and two seperate sleeping areas downstairs with one full bath and another living room with a Nintendo, games and DVDs. You can walk out to a nice sized screened in porch, a hot tub, and a beautiful new fire pit. The lake house has all you need to enjoy the day at the lake. The dock is spacious with plenty of room for everyone to hang out. A fun paddleboat along with two kayaks and two paddle boards. Huge umbrella to use for those who want to be in the shade while watching everyone have a great time in the lake. The house is in a cove so it's the perfect place to practice your paddle boarding and kayaking skills. Grocery store is only about 5 miles away and two places to go for wine tastings two miles down the road. Added bonus: we were able to squeeze 6 cars in the driveway. We loved this place and will return again.

The perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Instead of heading to the Florida beaches for Spring Break this year, we decided to stay a little closer to home and check out SML. We could not have been more thrilled with this amazing house and all it had to offer! My three teenage kids loved the kayaks, paddle boards, hot tub, tennis and bonfires (made in the brand new stone fire pit). Despite the water being a little chilly, we rented a boat at a nearby marina for two days. The location of the house was perfect for a day trip to Monticello, dinner two nights in Lynchburg and bike riding along the river in Roanoke. Upon arrival, the house was immaculate and more than large enough to accommodate the five of us. The amenities that were provided with the house were exceptional (and I have rented several homes through VRBO). Tom, the owner, did an excellent job of communicating details before our arrival and he was never more than a quick call or text away if we needed anything or had a question. We could not have been more pleased with our first trip to SML. I have a feeling this lake (and house) will become a new family favorite.

Property just as shown in pictures, Great view!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this home on SML. The home looks just as the pictures depicts it. The house had a great deck upstairs which we stayed on most of the time chatting. The kitchen had all the amenities that you would ever need. Plenty of dishes, glasses and pans for cooking. The bar area was great for socializing and there was lots of seating for formal dining. There were plenty of informational brochures for people visiting for the first time. There are games, cards, Wii, movies for those who want to play or watch while there. We actually did play cards and Yahtzee. Many sleeping areas for large groups. There was even shampoo and conditioner in the showers, which I was surprised about. Liquid hand soap was provided in all the bathrooms, as were tissues. The dock had several chairs and a large umbrella for those wanting some shade. Lots of deep water in that cove for swimming and the fish were jumping up out of the lake just waiting to be caught! We enjoyed the water toys. Kayaks and paddleboards. There are lots of noodles and life vests of assorted sizes. The hot tub had a great view of the lake. We celebrated my 50th birthday there and everyone raved at what a great time we had and how nice the house was. Tom was so super easy to work with! Such a great guy with a very lovely home at the lake. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The location is close to the grocery store and pretty much any entertainment you might want to find. I am a little partial to SML as I used to live there! It was nice to be able to spend a little time on the water for my birthday!! SUPER HAPPY!!

"This Place is Paradise"

  • 5 of 5

The quote in the title came from my 7 year old grandson but I'm sure it was agreed with by the eleven others in our party. The sleeping accommodations fitted our family perfectly and the beautiful kitchen made meal preparation easy. Having two large refrigerators was also a plus. When we entered the house on the first day we could tell it was well cared for by the owner and we aimed to keep it that way. Tom's pre-arrival correspondence was "spot on" as to how to find the keys and he provides a a very informative notebook on both the house and the Smith Mountain Lake area. We rented a pontoon boat for the week and were busy all week with tube riding, fishing and swimming. The dock area is furnished with all sorts of water toys including kayaks, paddleboards, noodles, life vests and an umbrella which is a big help during the heat of the day. Tom also provides basketballs and tennis rackets/balls for those who are so inclined although the heat index was in the three figures while we were there. I can't imagine a property that is better stocked with amenities or an owner who is more accommodating. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary while there with our family and all agreed we couldn't have picked a better place. Highly recommend.

Great Getaway for our large group

  • 5 of 5

The house was great! We especially enjoyed gathering cooking around the beautiful stylish kitchen. The L-shaped bar and banquet size table made it so comfortable. Tom was very responsive and his instructions were very clear. We also enjoyed the well seasoned wood he provided for a wonderful fire! Thank!!
