Vacation Cottage - family friendly

Bedrooms 4
Half Baths1
Space 1,400 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

4 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathrooms plus outdoor shower, sleeps 10

This is a charming cottage with detail and character. It has the feel of an older home made new. The high ceilings, hardwood floors(newly sanded fall 2015), and wooden stairwell show its style and beauty, and yet it is very clean, bright, and welcoming. The kitchen has been updated in fall 2015 with new granite countertops and hardwood floors put in. The pictures do not reflect these changes just yet. The house is located off maravista in a family friendly area with children in the neighborhood. The beaches are very close by, less than four streets away. You can just barely see Martha's vineyard from one of the upstairs bedrooms, but from the beaches it seems so close it looks like you can reach out and touch it.

A little more on the area...: It would be a great house for one large family or two smaller families to spend a vacation. There is lots to do in Falmouth, and there are also the islands and other parts of Cape Cod to explore as well. The Falmouth town beaches alone keep us busy for a long time. Biking is a great way to explore the area, and can carry you quite far on the islands, around Famouth, and Woods Hole, for candy stores, ice cream, beaches, and more. Personally we find so much to do in Falmouth, Woods Hole, and Martha's Vineyard, we almost never drive to other parts of Cape Cod.

About Martha

I am a teacher and have grown up in falmouth during my summers.

Martha purchased this house in 2009

Why Martha chose Falmouth

This property was owned by good friends when I was a child and the location was just perfect to walk to the beach and still easily get to Martha's Vineyard and Woods Hole too.

What makes this house unique

Some of my favorite things:

I love that there are french doors sectioning off the living room from the sunroom where part of the family might be watching TV.

I like how you can easily walk back from the beach if you want a snack or an afternoon nap.

I love the old light fixtures all painted new.

I love the art work - all photos of a terrific artist Lindsay Shaw.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We have visited this home in Teaticket (Falmouth) for 7 years now. It has become our first vacation spot each summer and really allows our family to relax from our hectic busy lives. Set off the main street, this home on a dead end road allows for our kids to walk to the beach and bay safely, ride their bikes, play yard games and meet new friends without the fear of being hit by a car. The home itself is clean, well decorated and spacious. There is always plenty of room for extras when we stay. Lots of beds. The additional outdoor shower is a bonus- apparently a cape cod must have! There is a television with cable, wireless connection for computers (when we feel we need to log onto work) and of course all the devices that seem to join us no matter how hard we try and unplug. Each room is a beautiful pastel color. The floors are beautiful hard wood. Artwork on the walls is "fresh" and the kitchen has been updated a few times since we started coming to the home for vacation. Every year has a new update- you can tell the owners love this home and take care of it. The area has fantastic things for kids to do besides going to the water. The neighbors are always so friendly and have even babysat for us when we go out for an adult dinner! I wish that every home we vacationed in was this clean, organized, and beautiful! It truly feels like our home away from home. Thank you for having us year after year! We truly feel we have found the gem of Cape Cod.

Great Weekend in Falmouth

  • 4 of 5

What a great place to meet up with Vineyard friends for a long, holiday weekend. Very cute place with plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 children. Easy walk to the beach with chairs and sand toys in tow. Washer and dryer a plus. Proximate to town and ferry. Especially grateful for key rescue when we locked ourselves out of the house. We love Maravista!

Great location, could use a little tlc.

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our time at the house and the location could not be better! Had a wonderful time exploring the Cape and the local area. We all enjoyed the beaches. However, the house could use a deep clean and some minor repairs.

Also, it should be noted that guests must bring their own bed linens and towels. For those driving, not as much of an issue. For those flying in for a holiday, this is important.

Me and a few friends had a wedding to attend and needed a place to stay. This house could not have been more accommodating. It was great being so close to the water and the neighbors were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area. 10/10

Nice and Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice, excellent stay at this lovely house in Falmouth, MA.

- Martha left us 3 nice, cold Sam Adams bottles in a cooler to launch our stay!

- The kitchen was fully stocked with all the necessities for cooking and barbecuing.

- We walked to the beach a few blocks away. We went there only once, because Old Silver Beach offered generous tide pools and an offshore sandbar that allowed us to walk several yards in the water to the buoy.

- We enjoyed the many eateries in Falmouth. Falmouth has a cool vibe at night especially on the weekdays.

- The house was well situated as a home base. Kayaking was only 5 miles away at Mashpee. The Waquoit Bay Preserve offered free nature-based research tours for kids and adults. Old Silver Beach was our go-to beach destination. After 5:00 PM, Chapoquoit Beach also was nice to go to. Minature golf was not too far away in North Falmouth.

- The kids enjoyed this home away from home.

- Stop and Shop, Shaw, Christmas Tree Shop, Walmart, and other stores were less than 2 miles away!

- The Island Queen Ferry to Martha's Vineyard was only a mile away!

We highly recommend this house when you visit Falmouth!

A perfect family vacation home and location!

  • 5 of 5

This vacation rental far exceeded our expectations! We were a family wirh 3 children; ages 2, 4 and 12, parents, a very pregnant mom, grandparents and visiting friends...this home was perfect for all age groups!! The family friendly and safe neighborhood was welcoming. The inside of the home was very clean, AC, washer/dryer, tastefully decorated with a well equipped kitchen! The yard, gardens, grill & outside shower all added to the comfort of this home away from home! The location is great....Walking distance to the beaches, a pleasant and safe area for morning walks, runs or bike rides...all the conveniences were close by a short car ride = grocery stores, Main Street Falmouth, a wonderful playground and carousel, bike paths, many fine restaurants. Also, 20 minutes or so to Woods Hole, Aquarium, Old Silver Beach (perfect for small children), etc. The owner's and family were very welcoming and helpful! This was truly a perfect vacation spot for our family! And we hope to return again next year!!!
