Why The Owner chose West Central

Location, Location, Location, believe us...

What makes this house unique

Discovering all the special nooks and crannies not visible in the pictures is fun.. The 4 level deck provides areas you can getaway by yourself for a moment of quiet with that cup of coffee in the morning or ............you provide the imagination. The View is compared to a modern day Swiss Family Robinson treehouse altho' the only tree to tree swinging provided is in the hammock!

Guestbook comments from the owner

The View is an amazing place to be even in a Michigan winter! It feels totally like a vacation home, nothing traditional about it except the comfort. The summer months will be just that much more lovely. Enjoy your visit!

Well cared for

  • 3 of 5

This house is lovingly maintained. It is very hard to get in and out of both walking and driveway. The driveway is incredibly steep and not easy to bring bikes up or even walk up. The trek to the beach is not an easy one. The bed in the master is not very comfortable, the pull out in the sun room is not very comfortable and the tv in the living room pretty tiny. All these issues are surmountable, but the rate should be priced more accordingly. All that said we still had a fine time.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased with your enjoyment of your stay as you wrote here in the review and also in an email to us after your vacation. We're glad the few surmountable items you mentioned were minor. When we receive our first contact with a guest we stress the numerous stairways at the property as the View perches privately on the side of an even higher dune. Hence, the view at the View is extraordinary! Also the media pieces (and furniture) in the home are kept to a moderate size so as not to block any Lake Michigan view which is usually the focus. Thank you for the opportunity to elaborate upon why the View is such a special place, it's the attention to similar detail. Thank you also for letting us point out the distance to the beach which is approximately 600 feet or 200 yars. Previous guests (see reviews) have stated it's a great way to stay fit while on vacation and indulge in an additional ice cream! Bed comfort is purely personal, some desire softer, others like more firm, this was the very first negative bed comfort comment the View has had in its many years hosting guests. Again, thank you and we wish you many more happy stays in VRBO properties!

Beautiful and Serene

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented "The View" with our best friends for a long weekend getaway. After finding the property on Home Away, the reviews were fantastic but there weren't many pictures which made me somewhat nervous. The minute we walked in the door, I realized there was absolutely no reason for worry. The home is absolutely beautiful- we were able to relax and enjoy the incredible view of the lake and the fall foliage from the entire main living area which was incredibly welcoming and comfortable. It truly felt like a home away from home.

The bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed and comfortable as well. The master bedroom is amazing with a view I wish I could wake up to every morning.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the location is prime to visit all the nearby towns. We spent one day in Grand Haven, the next in Sagautuck, and the next in Holland. But we were close enough to each that we could easily go to any of the three for dinner in the evening. Linda and Jim's recommendation of 8th Street Grille in Holland was fantastic- we visited twice during our stay.

The owners were friendly and accommodating, responding quickly to any questions.

The View was truly an amazing place to get away and relax, unwind, and recharge in a beautiful setting.

The View was Incredible!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented the View for 1 week with our two young children. We had a wonderful time - the View is conveniently located halfway between Holland and Grand Haven. The bed in the master bedroom was incredibly comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked as we did quite a bit of cooking and grilling. Plenty of room for lounging on the their beautiful deck and to enjoy the view of the lake. The beach is beautiful with no stones or shells and powder-like sand and the waves were gentle. The beach was nearly empty every day as it was a private beach for the residents of the neighborhood. There is a steep hill and lots of steps to get to the beach but I saw this as a positive as it was the only exercise I bothered to do each day. I highly recommend the View!

Babymoon perfection

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at The View and it was fantastic. The location was very convenient for sightseeing in Grand Haven, Holland and Saugatuck. The beaches in Grand Haven and the neighborhood were beautiful and the sunsets were gorgeous. The owners were a pleasure to work with and very accomodating. Can't recommend The View enough

In our view, The View is perfect

  • 5 of 5

Celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary by enjoying a wonderful stay at The View. We loved waking up to the beautiful view of Lake Michigan and found we were lingering with another cup of coffee before heading out to explore.

The attention to guests comfort and needs in this inviting and spacious home is excellent. There are many places to sit, eat, play games, watch TV, read in this well appointed home. The kitchen is so well equipped and situated (part of main living area which gives you the Lake Michigan view) that I found myself cooking! If we had family or friends with us I would be able to prepare food and never loose out on the fun. We enjoyed the outdoor shower (specifically my husband), the views from every room, proximity to the beach, and private location.

The location of The View is ideal. We walked the sandy beach both directions, picnicked and lounged in the chairs provided. One evening we relaxed on the deck of the home and enjoyed the woods which The View is tucked into. If you want side trips to great shopping and dining two towns are nearby - Grand Haven to the north and Holland to the south. Our hosts' restaurant recommendations were great. Next time we are bringing our bikes to travel the extensive trail which is another option for exploring.

We had such a good time it was hard to leave. In our view The View is perfect!

Incredible views from this beautiful, comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We rented The View for two weeks in early September last year. It was such a lovely stay. The hosts were gracious and helpful. The deck was lovely for evening meals and barbecuing with a view of Lake Michigan. The master bedroom had incredible views. Everything was elegantly and comfortably furnished and decorated. We reclined in the hammock, rode bikes on the nearby bike trail to Grand Haven and Holland. Every evening we walked down the hill to the benches at the top of the beach stairs to enjoy the marvelous sunsets. We swam in Lake Michigan often. The water in early September is lovely. We visited local state parks. I really recommend this peaceful and spacious retreat.
