Spoon Lake Camp - Close to Glacier National Park

Bedrooms 4
Space 3,000 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 - 7 nights

About the property

4 bedroom 2 bath main house 4 additional 1 room cabins sleeps 8-16

The true 'Cabin on the Lake' experience, with infinite options for families and groups of all sizes. The property has its own dock on Spoon Lake, with gently sloping access for swimming, sunbathing, canoeing, or kayaking (our lake is motorless to protect the loons, making it quiet and safe.) There is easy access to incredible mountain biking and hiking just steps from the front door. Glacier National Park, West Glacier town, and access to the North Fork of the Flathead River are within about 10 minutes. World class skiing and the resort town of Whitefish is only 20 minutes away.

Either rent the main 4 bedroom, 2 bath cabin on its own, or bring more people and add anything from one to four extra 1 bedroom/1 bathroom cabins on the same property. The guest cabins are never rented to a separate party from the main house, so your privacy is assured.

The main cabin has an inviting Great Room for gathering, with a gas stove, two large couches, and plenty of seating and tables, as well as a TV for movies. We have a large video and DVD library with plenty of kids shows, too. This room also has a very long wooden dining table with long benches to accommodate up to 20 people comfortably for meals and games after supper. The Great Room also opens to a large wraparound covered deck with plenty of seating available to watch the loons on the lake.

Each of the additional cabins sleeps two people and comes with two twin beds that can be converted to king size. Each cabin has its own 3/4 bathroom with shower. Two of the cabins also have microwaves and small fridges. In each cabin, you can look out at the peaceful lake when you wake up each morning.

The main cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and a Weber gas grill on the covered deck. All bedding, quilts, linens, and towels are provided.

Just imagine how much fun you can all have hanging out together at this truly remarkable mountain lake property. Civilization is only 8 miles away in Columbia Falls, with antique shops, a great coffee shop, a family barbeque spot, and the excellent Three Forks Grill for fine dining. High end shopping and dining are also 20 minutes away in Whitefish.

You can fly into Glacier International Airport and arrive at your mountain lake getaway in 20 minutes. Missoula International Airport is only 2 hours and 15 minutes away and Spokane WA is only 4 1/2 hours away.

About The Owner

This photo was taken on a hike just down the road that is not in any of the guide books. We always give the directions to this lake hike when we send our favorite suggestions email to our renters.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Glacier Country

We think this is the most wonderful spot on the planet. First of all, we bought it because we fell in love with Spoon Lake the moment we first saw it. It is so quiet and peaceful and we can really relax here. It is also a great place to entertain all of our family and friends. We love swimming in Spoon Lake because the water is warm in July and August and into September and it is so fresh you could drink it. It is a place where we connect with each other as a family, and with our friends for summer and winter fun.

What makes this house unique

We love exploring Glacier National Park and all its hiking trails, beautiful scenery, and wildlife that you can even see from the road. We love the hiking trails right around our cabin. We fish and swim all the time from the dock and we play soccer and football in the open field by the main cabin. The North Fork of the Flathead River is a wonderful river for a family float trip and for fly fishing. Polebridge, Montana is a unique place to go for amazing pastries and incredible views. There is also a fun Fourth of July parade up there. We love Whitefish for skiing and shopping and great restaurants. One of our favorite restaurants in Whitefish is Wasabi (a sushi place). We also like to check out the local antique shops in Columbia Falls. The best restaurant in the region, The Three Forks Grille, opened in C. Falls a few years ago, and is only 8 minutes from our cabin. The Smiths grocery in Columbia Falls has everything we need from fishing gear and worms, to health food and a great selection of floaties. They even have blow up rafts in the summer usually. Also we go to Costco in Kalispell to get supplies when we have every bed full in the summer.

Awesome Retreat close to Glacier National Park

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 18 just enjoyed a two week stay at Spoon Lake Camp. It was an ideal location and provided a relaxing place to retreat after long days of hiking/touring Glacier National Park. When we weren't enjoying GNP, we enjoyed relaxing by the dock on Spoon Lake or sitting on the porch listening to the loons. This retreat has all the amenities needed for a large gathering and is close to shopping, dining, the park, yet is in a quiet, peaceful location. It was a perfect location for a fantastic Montana vacation!

Wonderful home and location

  • 4 of 5

Spoon Lake fit the bill for our family reunion. The home was clean and the setting was beautiful. We had plenty of space for the eleven in our party and would have been able to accommodate the two more who cancelled late without any problem. The location provides easy access to Glacier. We didn't hit any of the local towns as our time was all focused on the national park. That said we did carve out some time for swimming and paddling on Spoon Lake. Would recommend the owners provide a kayak/canoe and/or bring your own as we did. The kitchen had all we needed to prepare multiple types of meals.

Wonderful time!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Spoon Lake Camp with extended family and had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the proximity to hiking, boating, and Glacier. And we love that the lake is non-motorized and thus peaceful and perfect for swimming and paddle boarding. The house was comfortable and roomy and had everything we needed. The owners were incredibly helpful when we had questions. We'll definitely be back!

Great place for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family (two grandparents, six couples, and 7 teenage kids) vacationed last summer for a week at Spoon Lake. This is an exceptional property and location for a family vacation. The lake is peaceful, beautiful, and perfect for paddle boarding and swimming. Two couples and 3 cousins stayed in the main house. The remaining 8 members of our family (2 couples and 4 kids) stayed in four separate rooms located in a lodge on the property close to the main house and the lake. The main house is very comfortable and easily hosted all 15 members of our party for meals and hanging out. It has a big table that comfortably seats 15 people, a stocked kitchen that accommodates large groups, and a really nice main living area that easily hosted our whole family. The deck on the main house has a bench swing and nice rocking chairs. We used this deck frequently and enjoyed listening to the local Loons from the deck.

This is a perfect location. There are good hiking trails within walking distance from this property. Members of our party mountain biked almost every day directly from the property to Forest Service land. It’s easy to get to Glacier Park from Spoon Lake and there are good grocery stores and restaurants in Columbia Falls.

I grew up in the Northwest and I’ve lived in the Rocky Mountain West since 1985. I’ve lived in Montana since 1992. My spouse was born and raised on a cattle ranch in a small Wyoming community. Our extended family members on this trip were raised in Oregon and Washington. So, we’ve had the good fortune of seeing and staying in some extraordinary places in the Rocky Mountain West and this is one of those places.

The owners of this property are responsible, responsive, and down to earth. They gave us good recommendations. I hope that we have another occasion to return to Spoon Lake Camp.

Family and Friends Summer Gathering!

  • 5 of 5

Our family gathered with friends this summer at Spoon Lake Camp. We loved this place and were sad to leave. Where to start? The lake itself is really magical. It is so fun for swimming and boating and also really quiet and open. Early mornings are a wonderful time to watch birds. It is really a special place where you can experience amazing natural beauty and comfort at the same time. The main house and the cabins are so nicely done. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There are so many wonderful details that make this place both restful and convenient. I was amazed at how all the kids and adults had space to be together and also room for rest and quiet. The owners have truly created a space that is really modern, clean, and spacious, but also warm and welcoming. We also loved how close it was to Glacier National Park. It is such a great place for families. We really appreciate all the thought and care that make this place comfortable, fun, and so very beautiful.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family vacation at Spoon Lake was wonderful! There was my husband and I, our three grown son's and their wives and our 22 month old grandson. The house was a perfect fit for all of us. When we drove up the drive way we were blown away at how beautiful our vacation home for the week was. The pictures on their site do not do it justice! We spent alot of time down on the dock with our grandson who played in the water for hours. We brought kayaks and had a great time exploring Spoon Lake. With just a few miles from Glacier we spent many days there exploring. We also spent a day in Whitefish for shopping. It was so peaceful at this home, we enjoyed just sitting on the beautiful deck listening for the Loons. This is a wonderful rental!
