About Bluebird Day Vacation Rentals
We are a young family who fell in love with Bend 15 years ago. I am a mom and an artist, and my husband works in the Solar Industry. We love to travel, and understand the importance of a good night's sleep! We feel so appreciative of our life surrounded by so much natural beauty here in Bend, that we wanted to share our authentic, easy going lifestyle with other travelers. We love that Bluebird Day Vacation Rentals is a locally owned and operated property management company, and we appreciate that they have a philosophy about celebrating Bend culture that is right in alignment with our own. They take amazing care of our home, and will provide you with great service!
Bluebird Day Vacation Rentals purchased this House in 2003
Why Bluebird Day Vacation Rentals chose River West
This cottage was originally our first home. Not to sound sappy, but we fell in love in this home! During our remodel, we put tremendous care into using green and found materials, such as the wonderful wood floors which come from an old steel mill. We put in all wood windows to bring as much of the outdoors in with us, and did all that we could to preserve the original Bend heritage and character of this very special home.
What makes this House unique
The Lavender Cottage is in an excellent location, on a friendly street with lots of big trees, kids on bikes, and Drake Park just a few blocks away. We believe that vacations shouldn't be spent driving around in a car! We have cruiser bikes for you to get a taste of how the locals get around!

Late April 2017 in Bend - looking for a home
Lavender Cottage was a very good choice for us as a base while we looked at real estate in Bend. First, the cottage was quite well equipped with the things we wanted to just have a comfortable home base experience - the beds were comfortable, the morning sun came in from the front and the evening sun said goodbye from the back of the property - the kitchen was spacious - the bikes and hot tub were special plusses. Second, we could walk anywhere easily - trips to Newport Market - trips to Galveston and the micro breweries and bagel places there - crispy early morning walks up and down hills. Third, it was cold in the mornings and the Cottage heating system was very responsive. We would do it again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Lavender Cottage! I am a clean freak and it passed my standards. It was nice to have as fully equipped a kitchen as one can expect from a VRBO. The location is ideal - 10 minute walk to the park and downtown is just beyond that. A big plus were the "permanent" food trucks just a block away. The neighborhood is quiet and felt very safe. We would definitely recommend Lavender Cottage! Bluebird Rental made everything so easy.
Lavender Cottage was perfect!!
I didn't think I'd arrive to see the little cottage just as it appeared in the pictures. Even the poppies were in bloom! We are a family of 5 and the cottage worked perfectly for our two night stay in Bend. There is far too much to see in Bend, and we'd love to come back. When we do we'll stay here again. The house is so comfortable and warmly decorated; the hot tub was a very nice perk; the kitchen is fully stocked; beds were comfy--everyone enjoyed our stay. It was especially nice to be able to walk to some delicious food finds--The Victorian Cafe, 10 Barrel Brewing, The Lot with all the food trucks....everything was walkable. If you are planning to explore Bend, this is a great place to stay!
The Lavender Cottage is located in a quiet and quaint neighborhood surrounded by big trees in the heart of the popular Westside situated right in between Galveston and Newport Avenues. The location is truly exceptional!
Walk just a few blocks to Drake Park and meander around Mirror Pond. Relax under the 100 year old ponderosa pines and watch the lazy Deschutes River flow past. Cross a wooden foot bridge that takes you right into downtown Bend where you will find world class restaurants such as Zydeco, Joolz, Barrio, 900 Wall, and fun breweries, pubs and shops.
Or, you can walk to the popular shops and restaurants on Galveston Avenue, including 10 Barrel Brewing which is a great starting point on the Bend Ale Trail! There is Ariana Restaurant, fine dining in an old Victorian home, and many other fun shops and restaurants for you to discover.
Speaking of beer, Bend has more breweries per-capita than any other city in Oregon. Dubbed “Beer Town USA”, Bend is home to the Bend Ale Trail, a series of breweries you can travel to, and get your “passport” stamped every time you sample a different microbrew at one of the many outstanding breweries in town. If beer isn’t your thing, there are also several up and coming distilleries and even wineries to experience!
Feel free to hop on one of the provided cruiser bikes and explore Westside Bend like a local! You can cruise several blocks to all of the fun shops and restaurants on Newport Avenue. Stop into Chow for a fantastic breakfast with locally sourced ingredients, and live music out on the lawn. Visit Newport Avenue Market for groceries, and a dose of local flavor.
Hop onto the River Trail bike path, and cruise down through the Old Mill District to shop and explore down by the river. Catch a summer concert at the Les Schwab Amphitheater, or go see a movie at the IMAX theaters in the Old Mill.
There are so many fun activities for you to experience while vacationing in Bend, Oregon, and your vacation home is the perfect launch pad for all of your adventures! The Deschutes River runs through the center of Bend, and there are miles of trail to explore right in the heart of town.
For world class mountain biking, there are countless trails for you to conquer. The Phil’s Trail System is an easy 5 mile ride away! Stop into Pine Mountain Sports to rent a mountain bike and talk to their expert staff to find maps and all the gear you will need.
Road bikers will love the miles and miles of quiet highway that winds through forest down to Tumalo, a sweet little town just outside of Bend.
Another great way to experience Bend, Oregon is on the water! Rent a tube or kayak from Tumalo Creek Kayaks and “float the river” like a local. Century Drive will put you onto the Cascade Lakes highway where you will be deep in the back country in a matter of minutes. Grab a kayak or a stand-up paddle board and explore the spectacular Cascade Lakes! There are plenty of mountain hikes as well, ranging in levels from easy to challenging. South Sister offers an extraordinary summit opportunity, with views of Central Oregon that will take your breath away!
Oh yes, and did we mention world class skiing? Mount Bachelor Ski Resort is an easy 25 minute drive from Bend.
