This beautiful and comfortably furnished Spanish-style two-story home provides the perfect setting to enjoy Laguna Beach and Southern California living. It has a spectacular 180 degree ocean view, with white water views to the north. From the front room, dining room and redwood deck that runs the full length of the upper level of the house, you can watch the sun set over Catalina Island every night, as well as boats, birds, and (in season) whales drifting by.
The home is private, yet light and airy, with two sets of French doors and many windows that look out to the ocean and to the lovely garden areas that surround the home. Oak floors and a rock fireplace add to the charm of the upstairs area, which also has an excellent, well-stocked kitchen, a two-room bedroom suite, and a bathroom. Downstairs are two more bedrooms and a master bathroom, as well as a second redwood deck and a private garden rich with flora. For entertainment, there is Wi-Fi internet, cable high definition television, a DVD player, VCR, stereo, and a variety of DVDs, CDs, games, and books. There is also a two car garage.
In the elegant Coast Royale neighborhood of South Laguna, the home is a five minute walk to the lovely West Street beach, and many of Laguna's stunning coves are also within walking distance, and within a mile are a shopping center, restaurants, and the Montage Resort complex. And the home, a street-to-street property that is only one street inland from Pacific Coast Highway, is close to public transportation, including the free city-run shuttle buses that operate throughout the summer and go directly to all of Laguna Beach's many attractions.
The Coast Royale area of South Laguna has quiet, residential streets, friendly neighbors, and beautiful homes with amazing ocean views. Each home is unique, ranging from classic bungalows to grand homes of contemporary design. Both intimate beach coves and also wide white-sand beaches are within walking distance, as are convenience stores, restaurants, small parks and other amenities. Main Beach in central Laguna is about ten minutes by car, and Dana Point Harbor is about fifteen minutes away.
We arrived at this beautiful, quiet Laguna Beach home after a long day of traveling, transitioning from temperatures at about 8 degrees to a wonderful 75 degrees upon arrival. The access to the home is a small, quiet, residential street and the house is gated, warm and welcoming. As we had arranged, the owner greeted us, making us feel very welcomed. His pride in the home was fully justified - and matched our delight! It was just past dusk when we arrived. While I could not immediately see the ocean, I went out onto the back porch and could hear the surf in the background. The fragrance of the jasmine in the garden surrounding the home was an incredible welcome!
Morning brought glorious sunshine and spectacular views of both the wider ocean and also of the surf at a nearby beach. Sitting in the lovely breakfast room and looking down to the ocean was a spectacular start to our visit!
This home is multi-leveled, with a lovely and well furnished living room, comfortable breakfast room and delightful kitchen on the main floor, along with a full bath, private sitting room and full sized (Queen) bedroom. The sitting room and living room both have walk out patios - the one from the living room, a large, furnished balcony overlooking the ocean and the one from the sitting room opening onto a small garden. This was more spacious and accommodating than I had anticipated.
The second level offers two full bedrooms and a full bath - all very comfortably furnished and appointed. The larger of the two bedrooms opens onto a lovely patio that overlooks the garden. Humming birds, a large Bird of Paradise plant, jasmine and orange trees frame the garden. It is a quiet, peaceful space and a delight of shade during the mid-afternoon hours.
This home offered my traveling companions and me more than enough space and privacy plus the ease of staying in a very clean, well-cared for and comfortable home. It was a relaxing oasis for reading, watching spectacular sunsets, heading out for bike trips or beach walks and providing space for some wonderful home-cooked meals. The appointments in all areas of the home were wonderful - and generously abundant in matching our needs.
The town of Laguna Beach is easy to traverse and laid back with abundant shops, restaurants and art galleries. The beautiful beaches are within a half-block walk from the house.
This is an exceptional get-away - quiet, comfortable and fully accommodating. We'd return in a heart-beat!
It is a truly beautiful place. Beautiful interior and atmosphere, a relaxing quiet neighborhood with a really good vibe, and great surrounding. Some of the most beautiful beaches are in walking distance and so are some really good restaurants, including the best Thai food. But most importantly, we immediately felt at home! The view from the deck is incredible any time of the day, but at sunset it is pure amazing and looking at the ocean under a full moon or just into the stars seems to immediately blow your worries and troubles away. One day we checked and ran to each and every window in the house to find that there is none through which you are not able to get at least a peek at the ocean. My husband particularly loved the kitchen…he is a hobby cook and found everything that he could possibly wish for…and yes, even while doing the dishes you overlook a beautiful scenery and the ocean! Each bedroom is different, with a different feel to it and me and my daughter played lots of hide and seek throughout the house, there are so many rooms and that much space. I could go on and on. We spent three months there and loved every minute of it!
This was by far one of our more memorable family vacations! The owners were great and very accurate in all of their descriptions of the property and its amenities. We felt very much at home in their home and treated it as we would want someone to if they were in our home. Being able to walk to the beaches and catch the trolley into town made it great but one of the things we enjoyed about this vacation rental was that it was in a quiet residential area. We were able to visit with family members that live in the area and made it to several outings with our children. They all enjoyed it and we have a good spread of ages; 12-24 so that is saying quite a bit in itself. Being able to enjoy the cool temperatures and the evening breezes were a wonderful reprieve from the heat we left behind. The area reminded us a lot of Lahaina when we were in Hawaii. Being on the South side of Laguna Beach, we were also able to get out and explore Dana Point, Laguna Niguel as well as catch a movie nearby on a rainy day! No need to bring extra things as it is all there and when you run out of something, the stores are are very close. Nick's was extraordinary in Laguna Beach; Chaparosa's was excellent in Laguna Niguel; and if you get up towards LA, try the Humble Bee in Northridge. We took the Whale & Dolphin watch out of Dana Point and it was well worth the money. There's a little deli there so plan on lunch and don't forget to try the Cheesecake - it's worth it! This is definitely a location we will come back to for more memorable vacations!
Great location in South Laguna Beach....in all of Laguna Beach for that matter.
Family oriented neighborhood with access to the downtown/Main Beach area via open air Trolley (free during the summer months). It was a short walk to South Laguna restaurants, shops, Trolley stops (nearest being the corner of West Street and PCH1) and beaches (West Street, 1000 Steps, Table Rock). Additionally there is a neighborhood park about two blocks away.
My family (wife and 4 year old) spent a month here last summer. While I was working they spent their days relaxing on the deck, enjoying one of the many picture perfect beaches or heading into town to eat or shop.
I cannot emphasize how important access to the Trolley was for us (especially on the weekends). While others spent their time circling for a parking spot in the downtown area or at the Montage we simply hopped on and hopped off the Trolley at our leisure. Dinner with wine or a Happy Hour? No problem...just hop on the Trolley. We also used the trolley to visit the Sawdust Art Festival numerous times. Essentially it gave us the best of both worlds: peaceful South Laguna living with easy access to all the entertainment that the Main Beach area afforded.
The view from the living room, dining room and deck (especially the deck) was spectacular! Many hours were spent here eating, drinking, reading, listening to music….watching the sun set.
The house is a split plan with 1 bedroom room, 1 bath up and 2 bedrooms, 1 bath down. Perfect for families or those entertaining guests/clients. Attached to the upstairs bedroom is a sitting room that I used as an office. You can close it off from the rest of the house and open the French doors for a sunny, peaceful working environment.
We found everything in tip, top shape and ready upon our arrival. The kitchen was well appointed with views. We used the fireplace several times during the month which, for a Memphian in the month of July, was truly a wonderful experience.
Working with the owners was more than easy yet professional.
We plan on coming back to our "home away from home" early and as often as possible….starting with this summer.
If you want a great location, view, comfort and ameneties, this is it. Not too far from grocery store, Laguna Beach, basketball and volleyball courts. Great place to go for a run or bike ride. Plenty of good places to eat out and a nicely equipped kitchen if you want to cook. Very clean and comfortable. Everything worked fine. Would stay again. Actually, didn't want to leave. You'll love it!
