About Laura Haas

The hacienda has been in our family since it was built in 1945 by our grandparents, Charles and Ruth Reynolds. He was a painter who was drawn to Taos, like many others, because of it's amazing natural beauty, as well as it's unique cultural aspects. The Reynold's also had an art gallery on Kit Carson Road, and his work is still shown in galleries in Taos and Santa Fe. People often comment on the 'old world' charm that the house embodies. It has a comfortable elegance, with the modern amenities included.

Laura Haas purchased this house in 1945

Why Laura Haas chose New Mexico

This is our family home, built before we were born. We feel exceptionally grateful to have inherited it from our grandparents.

What makes this house unique

As the sun sets on a summer evening, you can hear the Taos Pueblo people singing and drumming from near-by. Their dances and festivals, in each season, are practically at your front door. Visitors are more that welcome to come and see the Deer dances in winter, San Geronimo day in the fall, and to experience Taos from an historical perspective. Sitting in front of a roaring pinion fire in winter, surrounded by original Taos art and furniture, is truly and enchanting experience.

The house was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of room and it had all the necessities we needed!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for my families Christmas trip to Taos. The beds were comfortable, the living area and dining room worked great for late night card games! The kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything we needed to keep the whole family fed. The washer and dryer were so handy to get all the gear clean and dry for the morning trips up to the slopes. The house is located in walking distance to so many wonderful shops and restaurants. It was nice to get out and walk around and just be able to explore what Taos had to offer. Laura was wonderful ensuring to check in with us and ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We will definitely visit this house again one winter! Thank you!

Wonderful historic house with modern amenities and professional management

  • 5 of 5

I stayed for one week in March 2016 with my wife and father-in-law and greatly enjoyed this property. It's located in a quiet area within walking distance of downtown Taos. House has charm and character (wood beams on ceiling, fireplace, beautiful tile flooring) along with modern conveniences like WIFI, Netlix, and heating. The unit was clean, well furnished and supplied, and Laura (property manager) responded promptly to any questions we had.

We enjoyed our stay and recommend this house to others.

Wonderful home for the Holidays

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and her family came to Taos for Christmas and chose the Brooks Street house because it is such a beautiful old home, a perfect example of the artistry and feel of early Taos. With its huge wood burning fireplace, thick adobe walls, ceilinged vigas and Taos art on every wall, the house embraces you with its warmth and history. The granddaughter of the original owners has appointed the home in the most aesthetic way, such that the feeling of being there is one of beauty and comfort. It is such a pleasant place, nobody wanted to leave.

Fantastic Location Home Away From Home.

  • 5 of 5

Myself and four friends from New Zealand stayed here in October. It couldn't have been any better. The walk to an from down town was perfect for us as we could all come and go at different times without hassling with a car. Very comfortable with beautiful furnishing, art , and well equipped kitchen. Being on Northside of town gave us great access to the other attractions Taos has to offer.

Our home is located two blocks from Kit Carson Park where every summer great music festivals happen. Michael Franti will be here in September of 2017. Alabama Shakes and Mumford and Sons have performed in the past. We have two other locations for great music, KTAOS Solar Center and Taos Mesa Brewing. Arts and crafts festivals occur regularly, and the Wool Festival is ever fall.

The Taos Pueblo has wonderful events throughout the year. Christmas Eve and San Geronimo Day on September 30 are famous. The public is invited.
