About Laura Haas

The hacienda has been in our family since it was built in 1945 by our grandparents, Charles and Ruth Reynolds. He was a painter who was drawn to Taos, like many others, because of it's amazing natural beauty, as well as it's unique cultural aspects. The Reynold's also had an art gallery on Kit Carson Road, and his work is still shown in galleries in Taos and Santa Fe. People often comment on the 'old world' charm that the house embodies. It has a comfortable elegance, with the modern amenities included.

Laura Haas purchased this house in 1945

Why Laura Haas chose New Mexico

This is our family home, built before we were born. We feel exceptionally grateful to have inherited it from our grandparents.

What makes this house unique

As the sun sets on a summer evening, you can hear the Taos Pueblo people singing and drumming from near-by. Their dances and festivals, in each season, are practically at your front door. Visitors are more that welcome to come and see the Deer dances in winter, San Geronimo day in the fall, and to experience Taos from an historical perspective. Sitting in front of a roaring pinion fire in winter, surrounded by original Taos art and furniture, is truly and enchanting experience.

So charming that I wanted to move in.

  • 5 of 5

Spent 3 nights here over Labor Day weekend with one of my girlfriends, my mom, my toddler, and my mom's friend from Albuquerque who came up for one night. Beautiful and unique on the inside and out - there were all sorts of interesting things for my little girl to look at and explore. Very spacious and a quiet location that we were all able to relax in. I would say that having only one bathroom would be the only negative, but it wouldn't keep me away as we would absolutely go there again.

Very nice with a great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 8 nights on our summer vacation. Clean and very spacious for our family of 4 plus a small dog.

The house (duplex, with a large parking area and plenty of privacy) is very Pueblo like, which felt just right for a New Mexico visit. Tile and wood floors. Comfortably furnished. There were heaters but due to the construction of the house we never needed to use them even though nights were in the 50s.

Pros included a fully enclosed yard so our dog could run and play, well stocked with towels and some consumables, including in the laundry, and reliable internet.

Easy walk to town and the square. Very very close to the Taos Ale House and Burger Place.

Owner was communicative and accessible, though we never had any issues that needed to be addressed.

Comfy, convenient and great for traveling with dogs

  • 5 of 5

We met friends here and six of us fit comfortably. Absolutely fabulous place for dogs, as there is a spacious fenced yard, and a bonus fenced side yard. The place is charming and cozy. Very convenient to downtown, yet totally quiet at night. Highly recommend this property and host, Laura.

Tranquil, authentic Taos home

  • 5 of 5

The home was spacious and very comfortable: we (two kids, two adults, a dog) thoroughly enjoyed it and wish we could have stayed longer. The property is very close to everything (park, plaza, restaurants) but still a quiet and peaceful spot, tucked down a side street. I worked outside on my lap top on most days with no interruptions (except for the playful hummingbirds). I would definitely recommend! Also: Laura Haas is the BEST! Kind, thoughtful, and good-humored.

Our home is located two blocks from Kit Carson Park where every summer great music festivals happen. Michael Franti will be here in September of 2017. Alabama Shakes and Mumford and Sons have performed in the past. We have two other locations for great music, KTAOS Solar Center and Taos Mesa Brewing. Arts and crafts festivals occur regularly, and the Wool Festival is ever fall.

The Taos Pueblo has wonderful events throughout the year. Christmas Eve and San Geronimo Day on September 30 are famous. The public is invited.
