Property type house

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Open Den, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

ALOHA HATTERAS has it’s own little cove, it fronts Askins Creek, overlooks Pamlico Sound, is a 5 minute walk to the beach, and includes membership in the island's most exclusive beachfront pool/club/gym/spa/fishing pier. It is also 3min drive to the island's best grocery shopping...key to keeping the chef happy!

Unrestricted, panoramic views of/over water include fish jumping, birds feeding, colorful Pamlico Sound windsurfers/kiteboarders silently drifting by in the distance, and fantastic sunsets--all narrated to the sound of nature.

Come enjoy this fabulous view and it's relative isolation (...not sitting on your deck staring at your neighbor like a lot of the 'competition' even a lot of the 'oceanfront' cottages only have a view of the back of dunes...). With the National Park beach a 5-7 minute walk away, the beachside pool a short drive away for a ‘beach scene,’ and the incredible sunset views of Askin’s Creek/Pamlico Sound from the decks and great room, Aloha Hatteras offers a package of incredibly unique settings.

Experience an intimate relationship with the beauty and magic of Hatteras Island, the gem of the outerbanks.

Aloha is Hawaiian for welcome, farewell and love. The owners, whose children grew up in the Hawaiian Islands when stationed there with the military, want you to fall in love with Hatteras Island/the ‘other islands’ of the outer banks. ALOHA HATTERAS is your passport and its deck is truly one of those “close your eyes and think of a favorite, peaceful place” kind of settings; and the view is dynamic with no neighbors in your field of view: watch the Great Egret or Blue Herons feed to the sound of song bird music and fish jumping in the morning, striking sunsets over Pamlico sound in the evening, and undiminished stars from the deck’s 6 person hot tub at night. Forget your car and walk to the beach for that early morning stroll, the midday sun, and the evening tides. Windsurfers, kite boarders, and families with small children will love the privacy of the readily available, protected, shallow sandy beaches of Pamlico Sound. For those who prefer a BEACHSIDE POOL or that last shower after that last trip to the beach after checkout, enjoy the owner’s exclusive gold membership at Klub Koru (new in 2012). Fishermen also get free access to Hatteras Island's only fishing pier; (they also rent equipment). Klub Koru also includes access to the Island’s only private gymn, fitness classes, morning yoga at the beach, beach parking, and spa and salon services. Sports lovers or movie watchers/gamers on that infrequent rainy day will appreciate the 55 inch LCD 1080p TV with surround sound.

Bedrooms on the first floor with 2 baths: 2 of the bedrooms have fantastic views of unrestricted panoramic views of Askin’s Creek and Pamlico Sound. (We do not provide linens and towels. However, you can rent them nearby.)

Kitchen: well equipped with pots/pans, dishes, glasses, cups, knives/cutting boards, mixer, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, and many more.

The ground level has ample concrete parking, outside shower, charcoal grill, carport, and path to the kayak/launch area.

The 1st floor has four bedrooms and two baths with shaded deck and fantastic views off two bedrooms.

Living room: ALOHA HATTERAS’ large upper level great room with tall cathedral ceilings has unrestricted panoramic views of Askin’s Creek and Pamlico Sound, lots of glass, screened in porch--'postcard' views of Hatteras Island's quiet side.

* $200 to reserve your week

* Klub Koru GOLD with oceanfront beach club resort amenities are included with rental. In addition to the incredibly beautiful and unique beachfront pool setting, Klub Koru Gold also includes access to the Island’s only private gymn, fitness classes, morning yoga at the beach, beach parking, beach club showers, gymn showers that include a towel [great for a final shower after that final day at the beach after checkout]; spa and salon services are also available [google Klub Koru] (swimming pool open -- approximately 20 MAY to mid-SEP)

*Free pass to Avon Fishing Pier included ($12/person/day value)

*Best grocery shopping on the island is 3min away; key for cooking in [we have found that even the best planned dinner involves at least two trips to the Food Lion...big difference between being around the corner vs 25min away in Hatteras, Rodanthe/Salvo]

*Aloha Hatteras is MANAGED by the OWNERs.

*Sorry - but No Smoking

The Outer Banks and the National Seashore offer a fascinating combination of natural and cultural resources, and provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities:

* The uncrowded, pristine beach (voted best on the coast) is perfect for families.

* Want to explore? Take the free ferry from Hatteras Village to Ocracoke Island, home of the infamous pirate, Blackbeard; also a small arts community

*Visit the Wright Brothers Memorial and Museum and the Dunes at Jockey's Ridge State Park (50 miles north).

* Fisherman can choose surfcasting, inlet fishing, ocean fishing at Avon Pier, sound fishing (think giant salt water lake), or sport fishing offshore for flounder, drum, blues, mackerel, tuna, and more.

* Discover multiple intimate restaurants with the Outer Banks own brand of beach hospitality rarely seen in vacation destinations. Fresh seafood; Avon, alone, has two shops (check out Surf's up)

* Surfers can take advantage of the location central to the Outer Banks hottest surf spots including Hatteras Light House, S-Turns, and Frisco Pier.

* Windsurfers, Kiteboarders, and Kayakers can access the warm, shallow waters of Pamlico Sound with just short walk. World famous Canadian Hole Haul-over day use area and Kite Point are less than a half mile south.

*Children love the TUES nite Luau at the Klub Koru Oceanside Pool; NOTE: make reservations ($5 last year) online TUES or WED the week before you come--SAT when you get there is too late!

*Avon now has a bike path--great for exploring, for easy trips to the stores, or outings to the beach, pier or pool; bring your bikes or rent from John & Jill at Island Cycle.

A very beautiful location and property

  • 5 of 5

We just finished up a great stay at Aloha Hatteras. The house and property are lovely and allowed us to enjoy the area and see everything we hoped to see. The view of Pamlico Sound is great and the tidal creek that's closer is great fun. We saw herons and terns and the coolest jumping fish. A bunch of beautiful small tree frogs had taken up residence just outside the upper door and I saw two enjoying the heat of the hot tub cover at night. The grocery store is very close and it's just a short drive to Buxton and Hatteras Light south. We also very much enjoyed the Koru Klub Gold memberships for everyone and took advantage of the pool and Avon Pier. Just didn't have time for the fitness center. We even got to meet the owner of the Koru properties and pier and that was great. He's doing a great job in Avon and it was nice be able to meet him. The Koru Beach Club also provides kayaks, surf boards, and boogie boards, which my adult sons really enjoyed. My contact with the owners was very good and helpful. All in all, a great place to stay any time of the year.

What a great place to spend a week! Aloha Hatteras was perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed the spacious living areas and loved our morning walks on the beach.

Perfect family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Aloha Hatteras was exactly what we hoped it would be and more! It was very comfortable for 4 adults and 5 children. The sunset views were breathtaking, hot tub was a big hit after a long day on the beach, and the location is central to everything (gas store, grocery store, restaurants). It was also really nice to have access to the Club Koru amenities (we loved the pool and pier!!). We hope to return in the future!

Great Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at your home. It was very large and everyone had their own space. We used the Kayak in the creek and we took it to the Haulover Day Area and kayaked back to the house. We saw about 8 Skates swim under the Kayak. We walked to the beach only once and the rest of the time we used the Koru Klub beach access. We went to the Luau on Tuesday and it was so much fun. Some days the beach was a little rough for the little ones so we went to the sound or hubby took the little ones to the pool and us girls hit the beach. We fished Canadian hole and caught some red snapper and croakers. We also fished the pier one night and although we didn't catch anything other people hauled in huge fish and a ray as big as a car. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. We brought our food from home. the hose downstairs was nice for rinsing off the kayak and even the car after the ferry ride. The mosquitoes were not too bad except for one day so we used our candle which we left there and it worked well. I would stay here again in a heart beat. It was so private and yet access to everything. thanks for a lovely stay.

Something for Everyone

  • 5 of 5

Aloha Hatteras is a big roomy, well appointed house. Our family of (now) 9 gathered from three corners of the US to spend a week letting down from our stresses and getting away from nearly all. Whether it was walking and shell collecting on the beach, swimming in the Koru pool, fishing, kayaking, bicycling or sampling the various restaurants, each person fully enjoyed his/her stay. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare and cook meals.

The owners were accessible and responsive to all of our correspondences and they provided a wealth of helpful information about their house and the area around it.

This was all of our 1st visits to the OBX and it was worth the difficulty of traveling there. Brisk breezes kept the biting insects at bay and the decks provided many hours of relaxation.

We would happily recommend Aloha Hatteras to other relatives or friends.
