Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Open Den, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

ALOHA HATTERAS fronts Askins Creek, overlooks Pamlico Sound, is a 5 minute walk to the beach, and includes membership in the island's most exclusive beachfront pool/club/gym/spa/fishing pier. It is also 3min drive to the island's best grocery shopping...key to keeping the chef happy! The kitchen-greatroom layout with views and cathedral ceiling is the perfect beach house configuration.

Unrestricted, panoramic views of/over water include fish jumping, birds feeding, colorful Pamlico Sound windsurfers/kiteboarders silently drifting by in the distance, and fantastic sunsets--all narrated to the sound of nature.

Come enjoy this fabulous view and it's relative isolation (...not sitting on your deck staring at your neighbor like a lot of the 'competition' even a lot of the 'oceanfront' cottages only have a view of the back of dunes...). With the National Park beach a 5-7 minute walk away, the beachside pool a short drive away for a ‘beach scene,’ and the incredible sunset views of Askin’s Creek/Pamlico Sound from the decks and great room, Aloha Hatteras offers a package of incredibly unique settings.

Experience an intimate relationship with the beauty and magic of Hatteras Island, the gem of the outerbanks.

Aloha is Hawaiian for welcome, farewell and love. The owners, whose children grew up in the Hawaiian Islands when stationed there with the military, want you to fall in love with Hatteras Island/the ‘other islands’ of the outer banks. ALOHA HATTERAS is your passport and its deck is truly one of those “close your eyes and think of a favorite, peaceful place” kind of settings; and the view is dynamic with no neighbors in your field of view: watch the Great Egret or Blue Herons feed to the sound of song bird music and fish jumping in the morning, striking sunsets over Pamlico sound in the evening, and undiminished stars from the deck’s 6 person hot tub at night. Forget your car and walk to the beach for that early morning stroll, the midday sun, and the evening tides. Windsurfers, kite boarders, and families with small children will love the privacy of the readily available, protected, shallow sandy beaches of Pamlico Sound. For those who prefer a BEACHSIDE POOL or that last shower after that last trip to the beach after checkout, enjoy the owner’s exclusive gold membership at Klub Koru. Fishermen also get free access to Hatteras Island's only fishing pier; (they also rent equipment). Klub Koru also includes access to the Island’s only private gymn, fitness classes, morning yoga at the beach, beach parking, and spa and salon services. Sports lovers or movie watchers/gamers on that infrequent rainy day will appreciate the 55 inch LCD 1080p TV with surround sound.

Bedrooms on the first floor with 2 baths: 2 of the bedrooms have fantastic views of unrestricted panoramic views of Askin’s Creek and Pamlico Sound. (We do not provide linens and towels. However, you can rent them nearby.)

Kitchen: well equipped with pots/pans, dishes, glasses, cups, knives/cutting boards, mixer, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, and many more.

The ground level has ample concrete parking, outside shower, charcoal grill, and carport for rainy days.

The 1st floor has four bedrooms and two baths with shaded deck and fantastic views off two bedrooms.

Living room: ALOHA HATTERAS’ large upper level great room with tall cathedral ceilings has unrestricted panoramic views of Askin’s Creek and Pamlico Sound, lots of glass, screened in porch--'postcard' views of Hatteras Island's quiet side.

SPECIAL NOTES

* $200 to reserve your week

* Klub Koru GOLD with oceanfront beach club resort amenities are included with rental. In addition to the incredibly beautiful and unique beachfront pool setting, Klub Koru Gold also includes access to the Island’s only private gymn, fitness classes, morning yoga at the beach, beach parking, beach club showers, gymn showers that include a towel [great for a final shower after that final day at the beach after checkout]; spa and salon services are also available [google Klub Koru] (swimming pool open -- approximately 20 MAY to mid-SEP)

*Free pass to Avon Fishing Pier included ($12/person/day value)

*Best grocery shopping on the island is 3min away; key for cooking in [we have found that even the best planned dinner involves at least two trips to the Food Lion...big difference between being around the corner vs 25min away in Hatteras, Rodanthe/Salvo]

*Aloha Hatteras is MANAGED by the OWNERs.

*Sorry - but No Smoking

The Outer Banks and the National Seashore offer a fascinating combination of natural and cultural resources, and provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities:

* The uncrowded, pristine beach (voted best on the coast) is perfect for families.

* Want to explore? Take the free ferry from Hatteras Village to Ocracoke Island, home of the infamous pirate, Blackbeard; also a small arts community

*Visit the Wright Brothers Memorial and Museum and the Dunes at Jockey's Ridge State Park (50 miles north).

* Fisherman can choose surfcasting, inlet fishing, ocean fishing at Avon Pier, sound fishing (think giant salt water lake), or sport fishing offshore for flounder, drum, blues, mackerel, tuna, and more.

* Discover multiple intimate restaurants with the Outer Banks own brand of beach hospitality rarely seen in vacation destinations. Fresh seafood; Avon, alone, has two shops (check out Surf's up)

* Surfers can take advantage of the location central to the Outer Banks hottest surf spots including Hatteras Light House, S-Turns, and Frisco Pier.

* Windsurfers, Kiteboarders, and Kayakers can access the warm, shallow waters of Pamlico Sound with just short walk. World famous Canadian Hole Haul-over day use area and Kite Point are less than a half mile south.

*the best live music on the island is at Klub Koru Oceanside Pool on Thursday nites; NOTE: may want to make reservations in advance

*Avon now has a bike path--great for exploring, for easy trips to the stores, or outings to the beach, pier or pool; bring your bikes or rent from John & Jill at Island Cycle.

Very nice house but needs a little upkeep

  • 4 of 5

This was our second time at Aloha Hatteras and we enjoyed the house very much. The outside feels like it could use a little maintenance. Several of us got splinters from the outside handrails, for example, and the deck chair inventory was limited with a couple chairs broken. The Koru Club membership is a real plus. All in all we feel that we got our money's worth from our stay.

Wonderful beach house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful trip despite the 15 inches of rain that fell during our stay! The hot tub was a saving grace! Would not hesitate to rent again!

Fabulous Location!

  • 4 of 5

The house was spacious and well laid out, perfect for our family and grandchildren. The shower head in the Jack & Jill bathroom is old, had an erratic spray; it's not efficient and should be replaced. But we had a good week and enjoyed the reciprocity with the Beach Klub.

Great, peaceful, quiet house with much to keep us entertained without leaving it.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house! The open kitchen, living room area were great, with views out the sliding doors to the sound. The many decks and the screened outside area were nice. Relaxing in the hot tub during down time was a welcomed rest, the view day or night was beautiful. The house was clean and kitchen well stocked for any cooking. Location was great for groceries and traveling from rodanthe down to hatteras. Rain or sun this house gave us options, it was fun sitting in the hot tub in the rain! I do agree a path and dock would be nice down to the sound, but we were aware of that before we booked. I give this 5 stars it was exactly as described and we would stay again. Thanks ALOHA HATTERAS!

Just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

A week-stay vaca in Avon at Aloha Hatteras was simply perfect! Despite the cloudy weather for first three days, we explored and enjoyed the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Enjoyed watching the kite surfers on the sound from this home. Loved the hot tub at night under the stars, kayaking in the creek out front (was a bit challenging, but we managed), preparing meals in the huge kitchen and simply chillin’ in the great room.

Tips: remember to bring binoculars, a bath mat (in addition to all linens needed), and go buy a kite! Thank you for sharing your home on VRBO. Oh, one last tip, check out Surfchex site and select the Avon, NC live feed for a lookout span onto ocean and soundsides, this cam is positioned approx. two blocks east of rental.

It was wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Aloha Hatteras was even better than we had hoped. We had no trouble getting the kayak into the creek and enjoyed paddling around and watching the wildlife. The walk to the beach is less than 5 minutes and it's a beautiful beach. You can see for miles and there isn't a single house in site.

The house is spacious and very clean. Everything is in good condition and the beds are comfortable. As the main cook, I was SO thrilled with the kitchen. We've rented houses where there is barely enough silverware for everyone. Not the case here. There is plenty of everything and it's all nice quality. It was a pleasure to prepare meals. I think our favorite part of the house was the hottub and view from the deck. The sunsets are spectacular! On the first night, after a 13-hour drive, my 8-year-old was watching the sunset and said, "We're so blessed. Some people never get to see a sunset like this." :) And he's right. It really is a special place. We were sad to leave and are looking forward to coming back next year.
