About Marti Miesen

My husband and I are transplants from Lincoln City Oregon on the Pacific Ocean.

We came to the East Cape 20 years ago, and fell in love with the pristine area and the people. I became a Mexican citizen. Our lives have been enriched with the Bed and Breakfast we run, meeting the most wonderful people from around the country. Many have become good friends, and return to our paradise year after year!

Marti Miesen purchased this guest house in 1997

Why Marti Miesen chose Los Cabos

We are in a unique area, away from all the beach vendors and noise. Only 18 miles away from restaurants and shopping, and 9 miles away from our local Restaurants Zac's, and Vidasol, you can have it all! Beautiful white sand beach all to yourself, with the comforts of big hotel amenities! We will aspire to meet all your needs to make your vacation experience fun and memorable.

What makes this guest house unique

You won't get the private beach and environment that we have at Boca de Las Palmas in the general San Jose and Cabo area. The East Cape is the last bastion of peace and tranquility, where the developers have not yet started to develop.

We have a new paved road from San Jose del Cabo to our house except for 5 miles of dirt, which is generally kept up with the grater. We do have a service of pick up and delivery to the airport for $150.00 US taking you to the grocery store for your other food and beverage needs while here and then home. If you would like to rent a car and have us meet you at the airport so you can follow us, that would be $75.00 US.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Where to begin? Marti was a gracious host and, from the beginning, she was like a long, lost family member who just happened to have a secluded, beach-front property in Mexico and wanted to cook us an amazing breakfast every morning. Our adventure with Marti began when she met us at the Hertz rental car agency and directed us to the Mega grocery store so we could buy a 24-pack of cervezas (and for her to stock up for our week's breakfast). She is fluent in Spanish, so when you find yourself looking for lard free tortillas and can't read the nutrition label, she is patient and more than happy to help. Next is the most important thing to know: have her take you to Zac's. It's in the middle of nowhere and you'll be second guessing yourself for following this lady into the bushes, but you will not be disappointed. You will be starving from your flight, so go there and order tacos and margaritas. And then go back the following night and order more tacos and more margaritas (because you will be surprised at how awesome you feel the next morning). Our crew was a group of 5 so we slept 4 people in the guest house and 1 person in the extra room in the main house. In the guest house is a bed and a fold-out couch and one bathroom; in the main house there is a bed and a private bathroom (note: we could have comfortably slept 6 people as all the beds are quite large). The guest house has a kitchen and all silverware, dishes, pans, and glassware were provided. Bedding was also provided. No issues there. The hot tub and pool were great and cleaned regularly. In fact, everything was spotless and Marti's staff, who lives on site, busily cleaned the guest house and extra room each day while we ate our huge, home made breakfasts. Speaking of breakfast we had shrimp omelettes (twice!), huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, french toast, waffles, and a creamy egg scramble (trust me on the creamy egg scramble, it was the most-talked about breakfast item since this trip). And let's not forget the gigantic, fresh fruit plate every morning. It was unreal. Don't be hesitant to stay away from the tourist crowds especially if you want a truly relaxing vacation. Marti and her husband were glad to talk with us throughout the day, but were also fine just letting us do our own thing. If you feel like you might want to visit the city, San Jose del Cabo was only a ~40 minute drive from the house and Cabo San Lucas was only another ~30 minutes after that. Thank you so much Marti, Lloyd, and

Perfect Surf Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Went down for a long weekend with some surf buddies, including my teenage son, and could not have been happier. Marti and Lloyd were the perfect hosts, and their location, right on the sand, is in the heart of the East Cape's surf spots including a little known break right out front... Dawn patrol surf, then back for a full (five star B & B) breakfast made to order by Marti. Waste away the afternoons in margaritaVille, either snorkeling and spearfishing out front, lounging by the pool, or beach combing til the evening session... Dinner, then sleep to the sounds of the waves crashing in the comfortable, and fully equipped guest house and main house guest room, equipped with AC and/or fans, and repeat for the next day... Easy drive from the airport, we'll be back when the south swells are running! Thank you Marti and Lloyd! You gave us all the privacy we needed, but still made us feel like family!

Fantastic Location, Accommodations, and Hosts

  • 5 of 5

My 3 sons and I stayed at Bocas de las Palmas for 5 days, we didn't want to leave, and we will be coming back. Marti and Lloyd are wonderful hosts. They are both warm, salt of the earth people, who have lived a blessed life together. They were always there to help and talk, but at the same time we had all the privacy and solitude we wanted. Lloyd is a WW II vet and will tell you a story or two, but only if you coax it out of him. Each morning Marti cooks you a wonderful breakfast, complimented with fresh mango, pineapple, honey dew melon, cantaloupe, and papaya. You actually order from a menu the night before and each member of party can order something different. I recommend the eggs benedict and the breakfast burrito. If you order the French toast, Marti bakes the bread from scratch the day before! The location is great because there are no other homes nearby, so you have unspoiled, empty beaches no matter which way you walk. Whatever we needed or wanted, Marti always said "no problem" and made it happen. We were very comfortable and had a great time. There is good surf right out front, and you are only a 10 minute drive to either Shipwrecks or Nine Palms. The main guest house is air conditioned, and there are plenty of fans, comfortable bedding, satellite TV, WifI, maid service, etc. Literally, all the comforts of home (and more really)! Marti even did our laundry so we'd have clean clothes for the 2nd half of trip in La Ventana. We also loved all of their animals. They have a small goat herd, 6 horses, 9 dogs, 6 cats, and super cool aviary with about 50 parakeets and some other exotic birds. We can't wait to return!

Owner's Response: Jon and his boys were the best!!! They took advantage of all the fun things to do on the Cape. Having the Corns was like having family visit, all were so down to earth, relaxed and enjoyed joining in on conversations. It is always so nice when you serve up big plates of breakfast, and the plates were licked clean. I love cooking for good, and appreciative eaters! The place when they left looked like no one had stayed here, what a joy, to have such a considerate, and fun family. We are so looking forward to having them again soon!

great stay

Marti and Lloyd were very welcoming and accommodating. We felt like part of the family and the kids loved playing with the animals. They let us borrow a couple of surfboards and even road their horses. Looking forward to another visit!

Fam fun adventure

  • 5 of 5

My wife, and I and 2 boys (3and4) had a great time...The East Cape of Baja is a special place, and Marti and Lloyd's property offer everything you need to have that resort feel without all the crowds.

You have the beach all to yourself, and good surf all over. In the morning Marti prepares Fresh Mango, papaya, pineapple (they grow) and more.

Good variety of breakfast options...breakfast burrito was delicious and my favorite.

We rode horses, combed the beach for shells, snorkeled in Cabo Pulmo, surfed shipwrecks, cooked fish, watched movies, played in the pool and got ice cream in San Jose del Cabo...it was a trip we will treasure and will be back. :)

Such a beautiful spot!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, Marti and Lloyd are so welcoming they make you feel like family. They are the nicest and most accomidating hosts! Their property is beach front with not another house in sight. There are waves out front or you can make the short drive to other spots. The breakfast Marti makes was such a treat everyday! We were down there with our family of four, my kids ages 6 and 4. None of us wanted to leave and we all agreed it was our best vacation ever. Thanks again and cant wait to come back!

Truely the most gracious hosts I have ever encountered. One of the most perfect beaches I have seen

  • 5 of 5

Imagine yourself trapped in a Cabo all inclusive "resort" where you must rise at 4:30 to claim and guard your chairs by the pool, were the internet is an additional charge, where no one smiles! Well now imagine contacting a charming woman named Marti who comes to save you from this hellish experience and she takes you to the most beautiful paradise!! All true my friends! Bocas de las palmas is phenomenal! Perched on the Sea of Cortez you can stroll the beach picking up shells and watching the sea life without encountering another soul. You can breakfast on a meal so vast you don't need lunch and all the while watch whales frolic directly in front of this beautiful oasis of peace!

Marti and Lloyd are an amazing couple! We were truly blessed to meet them and now consider them family!!

Marti does rescue many lost souls: dogs, cats, horses, birds and unhappy tourists so you must love animals to stay here! We couldn't speak more highly of our stay!

Cabo Pulmo is about 45 minutes from our place. It is one of the most beautiful reserves left. Snorkeling and diving are the name of the game, and qualified people can be hired to take you out.

We have horses on our property to ride on the beautiful beach and up the arroyos,(water washes). Our property is right in the heart of the best surfing on the East Cape of the Baja.
