Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Enjoy spring skiing or on the hot and sunny days take a paddle board or kayak out right from our yard! We provide the boards and boats you enjoy the fun!

This is my 4th year in this wonderful business and I want to thank all of our great guests for their gratifying response. I believed people would love our enchanted cottage on the river, and I was right. Everyone who has stayed here has fallen in love with it. I knew they would, because my husband and I live two doors south and it is so awesome.

We're perfectly placed on the Deschutes River between the Old Mill section and downtown. Many guests never drive their car the entire time they are here. Everything is within walking distance from the cottage, including tremendous brew pubs, restaurants and shops.

We set out to make our pet-friendly cottage a 5 star vacation destination home and that is how everyone has rated us. You must read our reviews! From the very beginning, our plan was to do everything we could to make your vacation perfect. We provide a lush and welcoming cottage complete with the finest quality furnishings and amenities.

You'll discover a beautifully-appointed kitchen with abundant spices and most of the basics you'd need for cooking. The living room has an enormous HD TV with Blu-Ray; the charming bedrooms are attractive and unique. The baths offer your choice of a roomy shower or an antique ball and claw foot tub for a deep soak. There is a full laundry room.

We provide welcome wine, a s'more kit for the fire pit by the river; coffee beans and a grinder (with regular coffee maker and a French press) and so much more.

We have completely decorated our riverfront cottage thinking of your every need. The photos will knock you out! There is all-new flooring and carpeting, as well as all-new furnishings and linens to give it that great resort, clean feel. In 2012, we added new

kitchen appliances.

The French doors from the kitchen open onto a large deck and expansive yard directly on the Deschutes River where you can swim, fish or experience any river sports you wish! (There is double fencing for your children's security from the river and a fenced yard for your pet.)

There is a very cool outside bar, plus all kinds of dining sets with umbrellas, comfy Adirondack chairs and a large, all-season gazebo with a full set of rattan furnishings in it.

Our Four Seasons: Each season has gems waiting to be discovered. In the winter, Mt. Bachelor is a mecca for skiers and boarders; plus, there are many areas to cross-country ski. Making snowmen with the little kids is such fun.

In the spring, you have baby ducks, geese, osprey, eagles and blossoms everywhere. As the greens explode in the trees and everything is in bloom, many of those snow sport fans shift over to golfing, bicycling, running and hiking.

What can't you do here in summer? Our summer sports equipment includes stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and floaties (all are provided at no extra charge).

Fall brings us the fabulous colors, and things start to quiet down to an easier pace. Relaxing by the river remains a favored pastime, as well as most of the summer sports.

We welcome friendly dogs, and they give us solid paws up ratings, too. Dogs love the big riverfront backyard and they can swim right here!

It's easy for them to get in and out of the river when the double fences are open, and best of all for you, we don't charge extra for dogs.

Last summer, our cottage was rented every single day. The only thing I hate is when we are vacant, because that means someone is missing the

vacation of a lifetime. So I will deal for last minute bookings. But if you are really smart, you will book TODAY and receive your desired time. Look at my calendar; you will notice we book well in advance. So book early if I have convinced you this will be one of

the best vacations you have ever had.

It really will be.

About Jackie Haworth

Ray and Jackie Haworth are retired and loving life living on the river in Bend. Ray is a retired LA City Fireman and Jackie ('Jo Jo') is a retired antique store owner who enjoys being a grandmother.

We enjoy all the beauty of Bend's outdoors : Snow Skiing, Tennis, Kayaking and more. We love seeing the eagles fish on the river, and walking to our favorite restaurant for dinner and a movie. We walk everywhere we need to go!

We look forward to meeting you and making your vacation perfect!

Jackie Haworth purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Jackie Haworth chose Old Bend

We live on the River two houses away and we love living on the river so much we want to share the experience with others. Bend is a fabulous find. We love floating on the river, swimming, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.

And of course in the winter, there is skiing, snow-shoeing, cross country skiing, and eating in all the fabulous pubs and diners we have in Bend, within walking distance of our home and rental cottage. Come join us you'll love it. Read our reviews; you'll see yourself writing one of these after your stay with us!

What makes this cottage unique

We go to the cottage to watch sporting events on the 55 inch T.V. or watch Blue Ray HD DVDs. Of course, if we didn't live here we would come for the River Kayaking, Floating, Concerts, First Friday Art Walks, Skiing, Les Schwab Amphitheater Events, Hiking and Biking.

There are so many reasons we left Laguna Beach for Bend, especially the four seasons. Everyone agrees it's a fantastic place to stay, and it would be even without all of the extras we provide such as the stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and swimming right outside your door!

Amazing riverfront cottage is a home-away-from-home

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to Bend for almost 10 years, and this cottage is by far our favorite yet. We felt happy and at home the moment we walked in the door.

The location simply cannot be beat- it is so incredibly central to everything that Bend has to offer via foot or bike. The yard rocks for playing with dogs and kids -and keeping them safe- and we fully took advantage of the fun river toys provided: SUPs, fire pit, etc. The river view is gorgeous and relaxing.

But it's also so wonderful inside the cottage that you may not wish to explore Bend at all!

Thoughtful touches and anything we might possibly want or need are already here: coffee, board games, dozens more. (Don't want to spoil your delight/surprise.) The homey, cozy touches make you feel like a truly welcomed guest in a home; vs. a vacation rental experience.

The beds are terrifically comfy and the communication with our hosts has been ideal. Hospitality at its finest.

Needless to say, we WILL be back.

Owner's Response: We loved meeting these great people and we loved their review. A very funny thing happened, they said our dog coming to great them was a really neat touch, The fact is our dog swam over there probably looking for us as we had walked to dinner. When he didn't find us he swam back home and was in our yard when we returned home. If they had not mentioned that Snowy had gone over to visit them we would have never known he had been out of the yard. He is very social. We loved these people. Can't wait until they come again. They even took the stand up paddle boards out at the end of October, yea for them.

perfect end of summer getaway

  • 5 of 5

I've had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful property for the past 4 years now and I'm never disappointed. With a really busy work life that goes 24/7, my end of summer getaway gives me the what I need to re-charge. Nothing beats a glass of wine along side the river!. If you have dogs, they will love the huge yard; I know my 2 Boston Terriers do! Jackie takes great care of her guests. Already looking forward to next years getaway.

Five year renting this home

  • 5 of 5

Despite some really unusual weather due to Oregon's drought and forest fires.....we, once again, enjoyed a fabulous time in this well appointed and centrally located home on the River walkable to the center of town. We wouldn't be coming back 5 years running if Jackie & Ray had not been the consummate hosts to a special experience in Bend. The location of the house is PERFECT for watching the River goings on.....OR to participate in it with all the toys they have at our disposal....tubes, kyaks, paddle boards, fire pit, multiple cushy groupings of chairs & lounges to crash on, bicycles etc. Not to mention wonderful body lotions and bath oils in each bathroom and lots of books, DVD's, 3 TV's, and games. Jackie & Ray are the BEST and invite you into their community with open arms & a good pickle ball court! You will never be disappointed with this house, its environs, or its owners. Nancy Sinacori

Lovely getaway at the Riverfront Cottage on the Deschutes.

  • 5 of 5

We came for the eclipse, which was spectacular. The Riverfront Cottage was the perfect home base for our adventures. When not out and about, the four of us spent most of our time in the backyard, visiting and watching all the river activities from comfortable outdoor couches, chairs, and lounges. The cottage was well equipped with fine furnishings and many amenities. We grilled and took all of our meals out on the deck. Paddle boards, kayaks, and tubes were provided for fun on the river. Our hosts, Jackie and Ray, were delightful. We want to come back soon, and are thinking that this would be a perfect place for a family reunion.

float or kayak right from the back yard. Kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Boards included. Walk to Les Schwab Amphitheater, downtown Bend or Old Mill. We now also have Stand-up Paddle Boards the favorite with our guest. Don't miss out 2 weeks left this summer. Fall is great on the River also, the water is still warm. Try us for Thanksgiving, you could dine in the Gazebo on the River. For you that want to do the Ale Trail, the breweries/restaurants are within walking distance, what a great way to spend a fall day.
