About Steven and Lynn Wren

After searching the Pacific Northwest for the perfect place to hang our hats in retirement we found Bend offered the places and spaces for all of the outdoor and cultural activities we enjoy. Even better, all of these places are within an hours drive. The town offers our favorite beverages, excellent restaurants, and entertainment all a short walk from our historic home. The idea of walking and biking to escape the constant need of a car was high on our priority list. We are fortunate to have found the place, Bend, and the space, our Wren's Nest to enjoy for many years. We are delighted to share what we enjoy with others. Even the drive over the Cascade Range to sunny Bend is the beginning of our scenic adventure.

If we are not hiking, Nordic skiing, kayaking, biking, or exploring the high desert, we are enjoying the culture and festivities Bend offers. There is always entertainment or adventure just outside, a short walk or ride from our door.

Why Steven and Lynn Wren chose Old Bend

Location, location, location. We wanted to downsize and live in a comfortable home in the heart of Bend. That we found a solid, comfortable, historic property made this choice of home even more special. To be located on a quiet, neighborhood street just steps from all the town of Bend has to offer sealed the deal.

What makes this bungalow unique

The mill house is located in a designated Historic District of Bend. All dwellings and businesses within this district are required to retain the turn-of-the-century exterior conditions when improving a property. This home's stacked lava rock foundation, original fir wood floor and other vintage details of the era are retained along with updates to interior spaces.

An absolutely perfect cottage, and great bikes; best location in Bend!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED this cottage. I've visited Bend yearly for the past 10 years and stayed at different rentals, and I can say this is my absolute favorite. The location is ideal; central and close to all the breweries, shops, and parks. The 4 bikes are perfect for cruising around town. The back patio and grill are the best spot in town for a quiet dinner! The house also has EVERYTHING you'll need for a perfect vacation - laundry, well equipped kitchen, soft linens, and dog bowls and bed. I'm already looking forward to next year. Wish I lived here! :)

Fantastic Location!

  • 5 of 5

This is a updated 1920s home that has good upgrades. The beds are nice, though the bedrooms are 1920s small. But if you spend a lot of time in the house, you are vacationing wrong.

What really matters is the house is located a 10 minute walk from a fantastic brewery/restaurant/bar scene and great park (Drake - home of Mirror Pond). It also has easy road access for getting out to Bachelor and parking for 3 cars (2 in driveway, one in front of house)

Location, Location, Location makes this a great place to stay and experience Bend!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights at the Wren's nest last week, celebrating our 20 year wedding anniversary. The house was perfect! Cute with comfortable furniture and all the amenities AND walking distance to all the pubs and restaurants. We explored Central Oregon by motorcycle during the day and that itself was an excellent experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure. Thank you for thinking of everything!

Great location and great home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

My parents, my husband, our dogs, and I really enjoyed our long weekend! We were able to walk to most of the things we wanted to do (which included a concert at the amphitheater and mainly food) plus there were so many hikes within a short distance so the drive was no problem! The house was just what we needed and had a great back patio. I really enjoyed the contact with the owners of this property which made the stay that much more positive. We'd love to stay here again next time we come to Bend!

Great space and location!

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with this rental and would suggest it to friends planning a visit to Bend. Downtown, Drake Park, and the Old Mill District are not more than a short walk from the house. The space was clean, comfortable, and truly had everything we needed for our visit. The central air conditioning was a wonderful creature comfort during back to back 80+ degree days!

Great house and location!

  • 5 of 5

I can't think of one thing that would make Wren's Nest more comfortable or welcoming.

Steven & Lynn have obviously put a lot of thought into seeing the experience through the eyes of their visitors and have covered of all the big and little things that make for a comforting stay.

It really doesn't feel like a rental at all, it feels like your friends gave you the key to their house. That's as high of a compliment as I can think of!
