About Steven and Lynn Wren
After searching the Pacific Northwest for the perfect place to hang our hats in retirement we found Bend offered the places and spaces for all of the outdoor and cultural activities we enjoy. Even better, all of these places are within an hours drive. The town offers our favorite beverages, excellent restaurants, and entertainment all a short walk from our historic home. The idea of walking and biking to escape the constant need of a car was high on our priority list. We are fortunate to have found the place, Bend, and the space, our Wren's Nest to enjoy for many years. We are delighted to share what we enjoy with others. Even the drive over the Cascade Range to sunny Bend is the beginning of our scenic adventure. If we are not hiking, Nordic skiing, kayaking, biking, or exploring the high desert, we are enjoying the culture and festivities Bend offers. There is always entertainment or adventure just outside, a short walk or ride from our door.

Why Steven and Lynn Wren chose Old Bend
Location, location, location. We wanted to downsize and live in a comfortable home in the heart of Bend. That we found a solid, comfortable, historic property made this choice of home even more special. To be located on a quiet, neighborhood street just steps from all the town of Bend has to offer sealed the deal.
What makes this Bungalow unique
The mill house is located in a designated Historic District of Bend. All dwellings and businesses within this district are required to retain the turn-of-the-century exterior conditions when improving a property. This home's stacked lava rock foundation, original fir wood floor and other vintage details of the era are retained along with updates to interior spaces. This home is a designated Historic Property.

It was super clean, very well supplied, great location to get around town
Location, location, location!
This sweet bungalow was the perfect home away from home for our family this weekend. The home was cozy with many touches to make it feel like home (a spare dog bed and portable chairs, a full washer and dryer..). The location was ideal, just walking distance to many great places to eat in downtown Bend, Crux (you have to try it out!!) and Drake Park. Hoping to stay again for our next Bend adventure!
great stay in Bend!
Location is great, and the home is comfortable and charming. Highly recommended if you want a place that is walkable to many restaurants, downtown, a great park, and pubs. It was our second stay at this home and were very happy again with the accommodations.
Our 3 night stay
Very nice with everything we needed. Cute place.
Ideal base for enjoying Bend
Cottage is nicely updated to welcome guests without having lost the charm of its “mill house” origins. Enclosed back yard (with bbq, furniture) a real plus for dog (or children) owners. Extremely pleasant, walkable, evolving neighborhood of older, mostly small, residences. Walk to Wall St shops and pubs or to the Old Mill District, river, museum, etc—and Market of Choice (upscale groceries) is just 4 blocks. We’ve enjoyed staying here before and anticipate another, future, visit.
Great location. Pull up and then ride bikes for the rest of your stay. It was great!
Bend is central Oregon's four season hub for all types of outdoor recreation from snow skiing to mountain biking. The Three Sisters Wilderness, Cascade Mountain Range, and High Desert to the East provide endless opportunities for exploration. In town there are miles of walking trails, 15 microbreweries, many excellent restaurants, and a shoppers paradise on Wall and Bond streets and at the Old Mill. St Francis McMenamin's with it's Turkish soaking pool is 2 blocks away. The Deschutes river trails and parks are five blocks. Old Mill shops are eight blocks.
Within a 30 minute drive of Wren's Nest there is Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, tubing, world class mountain biking, road biking, hiking, rafting, lake and whitewater kayaking, swimming and tubing. Of course there's plenty of porch sitting at the house.
