WELCOME to our comfortable, 1-level, family-friendly home in the beautiful community of Sunriver. Nestled in the pines of the high desert mountains of Central Oregon, you will love relaxing under the stars in the private hot tub, or curling up by the fire after a day of sightseeing or playing outdoors. Skiing, tubing, ice skating, cycling, pickleball, tennis, golf, fishing, hiking and rafting are just a few of the many activities you can enjoy in Sunriver! Please make sure you read our House Rules and policies before booking.

Our 4 bedroom, 3 full-bath home sleeps 10. We can accommodate a MAX of 6 adults (defined as over the age of 12 yrs). The Sunset suite and Desert Oasis suite have king size beds and private baths; a third bedroom has an XL twin bunk over a queen bed, and the fourth bedroom has two twin bunk beds (for children under 12 yrs). Enjoy the open concept great room with high ceilings as you prepare meals for your family in the well stocked kitchen, or on the gas bbq out on the spacious, furnished deck. House amenities include: A/C, free hi-speed wireless internet, 2 refrigerators, washer/dryer, 5 smart TV's with DVD players, lots of games, firewood for the gas-assist fireplace, and a private hot tub! Our home includes 10 SHARC passes for FREE ACTIVITIES giving access to the Sunriver aquatic facility, sledding hill, tennis, disk-golf and the private owners's boat launch! For your use, there are 5 adult bikes, 2 kids bikes (helmets not provided) and a ski/snowboard rack in the garage! All basic kitchen, bed/bath, hot tub and laundry supplies are provided.

Our vacation ready home is located on a quiet cul de sac and is close to all that Sunriver has to offer: miles of paved Sunriver biking trails, SHARC aquatic facility, tennis courts, Sunriver Village, golf courses, and floating on the Deschutes River. Mt Bachelor is a quick 30 minute drive and 20 Whistler is a 5 minute walk to the Sunriver Marketplace for groceries so that you can spend your time enjoying Sunriver, not shopping.

Central Oregon is a visitors paradise! Mountains, rivers, lakes, volcanic history, starry nights...Come, relax and make memories in the fresh mountain air of Sunriver!!

Minimum age of Primary Renter must be 25 and MUST be present on the property for duration of the reservation. Occupants under age of 18 shall not be left unsupervised. No parties, events or loud music. NO SMOKING on our property (inside or outside) Sorry, we have a strict NO PET Policy and we do not make exceptions. Thank you! IMPORTANT: All Guests are REQUIRED to read, e-sign and return our Rental Agreement within 48 HRS of booking. The booking will be cancelled without this document. Our property requires a $500 Security Deposit. A hold will be placed separately by the property 2 days prior to check-in. Thank you!

Fantastic home base for family ski trip

Home was clean, well equipped and was able to accommodate 2 families comfortably. Check-in process was straightforward, we were provided with lots of information about the home, neighborhood and for the city of Bend. Hosts were lovely and quick to respond to any questions. We would definitely recommend this home and plan to return again.

We liked sunriver and the house

The house was great. We stayed 3 nights with our friends (4 adults and 5 kids). We couldn’t really use the bikes as there were not enough for everybody and no lock. So we rented some in bend and that was great. We enjoyed the recreation aquatic center but it was crowded and we preferred to use the private hot tub with the kids. We’ll come back to bend and that house if we can. We had a good time there.

Spacious Home

We have been staying at the High Desert Escape home in Sunriver annually for over 10 years. The 4 bedroom layout including two master suites (both with King Bed!) and a 3rd full bathroom is such a great layout, and spacious for two families with kids/teenagers. In addition, the north end location is so peaceful and it's so nice to have the north end grocery nearby. The owners are great and on top of everything, and continue to make updates each year. I highly recommend this home, and look forward to coming each year!

Girl's Weekend

This is a fabulous Sunriver home with everything you could possibly need for a fun and relaxing vacation. The home is the most well stocked vacation home I've ever rented. Great location, easy check in and very responsive owners. We had an awesome time and would definitely rent again.

Lovely Home in Beautiful Setting

Great place to relax! My mom and sister snd I did a girls’ weekend here. When we get together, we just want a comfortable place to chat and share meals. This house had a great kitchen with all the supplies we would have ever needed. The hot tub was great. The bedrooms were great. Loved sitting on the back deck and listening to the wind blow though the pines! Having the keypad lock was convenient so we didn’t have to keep track of a key.

Great family getaway

A wonderful base for two families. Enjoyed hiking, skiing, and exploring Bend. House had everything you could need, with a well stocked kitchen, games, fireplace, and spa. We all enjoyed the Sun River amenities, playing sand volleyball, swimming, biking, and hiking. Great fun!

Everything Your Vacation Needs

We were so happy to find this wonderful house!! We wanted to take one of our kids and their family (husband and two teenaged sons) for Spring Break. We were looking for King beds for the adults and space for each of the boys. High Desert Escape was PERFECT! Two king beds with en-suites, plus ample room for the kids to spread out. This house so well equipped!! It was the best vacation rental we've had in that regard; not really needing a thing (spices, kitchen gadgets, baking basics) Everything was labeled with location or how to use. We enjoyed the hot tub (even in the snow!), plus all the perks of Sunriver. Owners were very responsive to email and texts. It is so nice to find a vacation rental that lives up to its description. Thanks David and Lisa for a great vacation!

Cozy and inviting home

We are thankful our family of four, (plus Grandma) had the opportunity to stay at this family friendly home over Thanksgiving break. The location of the home is on a quiet street and a quick drive to the village. Every time we walked in, we kept commenting how the house felt cozy and inviting. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed to make Thanksgiving dinner. Everything is well marked and labeled throughout the house. The temps were cold during our stay, so we took advantage of the wood burning fireplace, which was a treat. We have nothing but positive feedback regarding this home. We hope to stay here again!

Clean, Comfortable and Roomy

This property offers a really comfortable respite for vacationers with adequate seating in the gathering room (unlike other places we have stayed.) Our party of 6 adults and 3 children found sparkling clean rooms and a well-equipped kitchen for our stay. Games, puzzles, bikes and SHARC passes were appreciated. Hot tub was clean and ready upon arrival. Expectations for tenants are clear with a thorough notebook of information. The owners, Lisa and Dave, respond to emails promptly and clearly care about the experience for the renters. This property is well maintained on a quiet cul-de-sac and is a pleasure to visit. We would love to come back for another stay!

Bumpy at first, overall satisfied

We stayed during a heat advisory and the A/C was broken. We werent notified via VRBO messages, a typed note was left for us on the kitchen counter. Weird and made us suspicious that they didnt want us to know with time to cancel or prepare. Very uncomfortable temperature the first night. Communication was prompt but I also felt it was condescending. The suggestion was to open the windows at night for cool air and close it all up during the day. (Um duh). And we were told the previous guests were just fune and comfortable. Ok, that's them and the heat advisory wasnt during their stay. Anyway, we got through the first night and were provided a portable A/C unit. That made it much better and we were appreciative. The rest of the stay was great. Ammenities were great. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was labeled with a label maker. It was kind of neurotic. We were also warned about multiple things that if not done correctly would result in an extra charge. Recycling, moving furniture, not taking shoes off and many others. We felt very nervous we werent going to get our deposit back. And we are careful, considerate, clean people. In the end we were "compensated" for the A/C issue with a $50 gift card to a local restaurant. There were 9 of us staying so that was meh but thoughtful and better than nothing. Would stay again for the house but probably not because of the intrapersonal issues.

Our 2nd time in this we’ll appointed, luxurious home. Our host are very detail oriented and it shows. Nice clean hot tub, dry firewood, great location, kitchen that has everything including lots of spices. Owners are very process driven, and the result is a visit to a well maintained house, predictability, and a high quality experience.

The home we stayed in was absolutely amazing!

The home was everything as advertised and even better! The master suites were very spacious with windows and a door walking out to the nicely furnished deck or the hot tub area. All the beds were very comfortable and the kids loved the bunk bed room! Bathrooms were all clean with soap and shampoo dispensers. The living room area was very inviting and designed for gathering. I don’t think there could be one thing you could think of that the kitchen did not have. Dave and Lisa thought of everything. The hot tub was well enjoyed as well as the outdoor grill. The SHARC passes provided were a big bonus and provided enjoyment on 2 separate occasions. We all marveled at how well the home was layed out and allowed people to be comfortable. We were visiting from Maryland to be at our son’s/brother/uncle’s wedding and Dave and Lisa’s home made our stay perfect! This is a great home with very attentive hosts!

Beautiful home and location

Beautiful home and perfect location!! All the comforts and convenience. We loved how everything was fully stocked and easy to access. Truly like a home away from home for our two families. It was a great place to relax after hitting the mountain hard all day! We would love to go back someday!

Pleased to meet you! We are your hosts, Dave and Lisa. We have individually been visiting Sunriver for over 40 years, and together we bought our personal vacation home several years ago. In 2020 we moved to Sunriver full time from Portland, Oregon. David works for a global technology company and Lisa works for a legacy airline. In March of 2021 we purchased a second home, High Desert Escape at 20 Whistler Lane, with the expressed purpose of providing opportunities for families and new friends to come and experience Sunriver.

Our passion is the outdoors, sunshine and fresh air. Sunriver is the perfect place for us to enjoy all of our favorite activities: Skiing, hiking, mountain biking and playing on the rivers and many lakes with our paddle boards and our red healer/cattle dog, Sky. There are activities for everyone who visits here, from tennis and golf, to outdoor music and many fun establishments to enjoy a great meal or a local brew. We are truly fortunate and hope to share this special place with all of you. We hope to hear from you soon!

What makes this property unique

Our home is the perfect location to relax between all of your adventures. Go biking and enjoy Sunriver's 35 miles of paved pathway; play at the Sunriver SHARC waterpark with the 10 passes we provide; tennis/pickleball courts 3 golf courses are nearby: the Deschutes River for floating or fly fishing and Mt Bachelor for skiing. You will feel relaxed in our single level home that is perfect for families with small children or older generations (no stairs). Our home offers you a fully stocked kitchen with coffee, a selection of teas, cooking basics (flour, sugar, oil) and a lovely dining room with seating for 8-10. In summer our back deck is fully furnished with a large bbq, table with umbrella and patio style seating for gathering outdoors. All of our bedrooms have real beds (no foutons in our home). Two king suites, (the Sunset and Desert Oasis suites), have full ensuites. The Lodge Twin room has two twins that we can convert to a king bed upon request. The kids will love the Crew Bunk room that features two bunk beds (total 4 beds). All of our linens and towels are 100% cotton and OEKO-TEX certified (sustainable and chemical free bedding). All of our bath/spa products are organic/vegan/cruelty free and either mildly scented or scent free for a silky, luxurious experience. During the chilly months, our gas-assist fireplace is ready for you with firewood and instructions provided, just waiting for you to curl up with a good book or warm beverage. We have many family friendly games and puzzles in the living room, and every room has a flat screen smart tv with many channels also provided for watching movies, shows and sports. Our home is uniquely situated in a quiet area of Sunriver, close to the north Sunriver Marketplace grocery store and gas station for your needs; Fort Rock Park for playing tennis, basketball, softball and playground equipment; Woodlands golf course is nearby and SHARC is just a bike ride away.
