About this property

The New York Room- The Buzzard's Roost Inn

FEATURED ON HGTV'S HOME TOWN, RENOVATED BY BEN & ERIN NAPIER
Located in the center of Downtown Laurel, Mississippi, the Buzzard’s Roost Inn is a one-of-a-kind place to stay. Relax in one of our Crescent Line-themed rooms before heading out to explore the downtown area you've fallen in love with on HGTV's "Hometown." The space is newly built on the second floor of the 100-year-old Lott Furniture Building and boasts a number of unique details that you won't find anywhere else in Laurel! The inn is made up of 5 rooms: 2 king suites, 2 queen rooms, and a common area with a seating area and a kitchenette. Each room is curated to represent a stop on the Crescent Line train, which leaves from the station across the street from the Inn every single day! The New York Room has a king bed (+ a queen sofa bed) and a private, en-suite bathroom, all designed to reflect the style and atmosphere of New York City, New York.
Guests have access to their private bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a shared common area with kitchenette and lounge area. Host will communicate with guests with a 24 hour guaranteed response time.
Downtown Laurel is a walkable town full of shops, restaurants, and hospitality that you can only find in a small Southern town. Whether you're looking for antiques, "Hometown" souvenirs, a light lunch, or some country cookin', Downtown Laurel has it. The Inn is located in the center of the downtown area, so you can set out on foot each morning to take in the sights and history of Laurel.
There is plenty of free parking in the downtown area, but our guests have access to free long-term parking right in front of the Buzzard's Roost Inn.

Please read in entirety before booking--
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- You may experience noise. This is all part of the experience of staying at The Buzzard's Roost Bar & Inn! We are located directly across from the Crescent Line Railroad. The train passes several times throughout the day and night, so please be mindful of this. Most guests enjoy the charm of the train and have not been disturbed during sleep. Remember, you are staying over a restaurant and bar. We have done our very best to minimize sound transfer, but it's possible that you will hear some noise like voices, kitchen, music, footsteps, etc. We don't expect this to be unbearable but ask you to be mindful that this is all part of our business concept. Rooms include a white noise machine if you would like to use it! (We do not have live music every night, but will often have it on weekends.)
We hope that you join us in the bar!
Below are the current hours of The Buzzard's Roost Bar:
M-TH 4:00PM-10:00PM, F 11:00PM-12:00AM, SAT 11:00AM-12:00AM, SUN 11:00AM-8:00PM
-Please know that we are not a full-service hotel! This means that we do not have a front desk or on-property staff. Cozy Cottage Management can help you with anything you need, and you can reach them by messaging, emailing, texting, or calling. This includes within Lodgify, Airbnb, and VRBO/Homeaway.
Before your stay, we have a 24-hr response guarantee, and during your stay, they answer as quickly as possible. Your wait typically will be very short, but overnight we recommend calling the numbers in your guest guides (in Lodgify app and in rooms) for emergencies.
Housekeeping comes daily between the hours of 10am-3pm to clean the rooms and common area. On all stays longer than 1 night, we offer a daily visit from our team to refresh towels and fulfill any requests that you may have that fall under our services. *We also have a maintenance team on call if anything is out of order. They are not on-staff, so we will get them there is soon as they possibly can.

We don't have luggage service, but can arrange help if you need it to get up the stairs. Please let us know ahead of your stay!
Keep in mind that we are a small team and are doing our best to make your experience the best possible. We have worked to try and provide as much information to you as possible online and on-site to make things as comfortable and easy as we can, as this is mostly a self-service Inn.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT

We require a pre-authorized $100 damage deposit at the time of booking that will be removed within 3 days after your stay.
We can charge you out of this deposit if anything is stolen or damaged, or in the event of non-approved late checkout. ($50 late checkout fee, damage or theft depends on the circumstances) ($15 towel/linen fee in the event of non-removable staining)
PETS

At this time, we do not allow pets, but of course service animals (including emotional support animals) are welcome. If you'd like to book under these circumstances, please let us know at the time of booking to be prepared.
*We reserve the right to charge you if anything is damaged or soiled from your service animal and require it to be kenneled while you are not present.

SMOKING
We do not allow smoking of any kind inside The Buzzard's Roost building. Not only could it affect the stay of the other guests, it could be damaging to the building and the property inside, like our art and furniture. *We have a commercial sprinkler system that detects smoke in every area.

ACCESSIBILITY

Unfortunately, we have no elevator. Please know before booking that there is only a stairwell to enter the Inn. We've had many questions about accessibility and ADA compliancy, and that statement is below--
As a business, and as humans, we never want anyone to feel forgotten or intentionally excluded. We know that not everyone that might want to stay with us can climb stairs with luggage. Our decision to not add an elevator was not taken lightly. Our building is over 100 years old, and so old we don't even know when it was built! Because of that, the infrastructure could not take a new elevator shaft. We would likely have to build it outside in the uneven back alley, and at this time it's not financially possible. (There is also no parking out there and would require a lot of walking on uneven ground to reach the elevator in the dark.) Hopefully in the coming years, we can add some more accommodations to improve accessibility in the Inn. Regarding compliancy, here is the code:
§ 36.404 Alterations: Elevator exemption.

(a) This section does not require the installation of an elevator in an altered facility that is less than three stories or has less than 3,000 square feet per story, except with respect to any facility that houses a shopping center, a shopping mall, the professional office of a health care provider, a terminal, depot, or other station used for specified public transportation, or an airport passenger terminal.

(We are less than 3,000 square feet per story and less than 3 stories.)
CANCELLATIONS
Please review our listed cancellation policy before booking.

We are so excited to host you all and greatly appreciate your patronage! Best, Keri Rowell (Owner)

We had such a great time in Laurel. If you are a fan of Home Town you have to stay here, it was exactly as shown on HGTV. The kitchenette is such a nice feature, highly recommend this property.

Such a fun experience staying in the New York room! Just as beautiful as on TV! Ate at the Buzzard's Roost restaurant below the Inn and it was so delicious. Tip: If you stay on a Friday or Saturday night, be aware that there may be live music in the bar below that you can hear upstairs!

Small Town Charm
Location was fantastic, walking distance to all things downtown Laurel. Loved the charm of a small town. The hospitality of everyone in this town is top notch. It was really cool to stay in a place that's been renovated by Ben and Erin from the HGTV show Home Town. We ate and had drinks at the Buzzards Roost downstairs and we highly recommend having an Old Fashioned and enjoying the ambiance. Dinner at The Loft is a must for your stay. Be aware, the train does run ALL hours of the day and night and it's directly across the street. As the description says... It's part of the Laurel experience!

Comfortable & Convenient
We brought our boys and intended to take the train into town. It’s very convenient to the train station and good proximity to all of the downtown shops. I wish we would’ve taken the train but maybe another time. It was difficult having all four of us but the room would be great for two. Nicely designed and furnished which made the stay comfortable. I do not have any internet tv accounts so that caused an issue for watching tv there so make sure you have those if you want tv
